Chapter 94: Chapter 90, Ill-Intentioned_1
"Lu Te?" Ge Xing spotted this big tiger, and gave a light snort, not sounding very friendly.
"What do you say, Ge Xing? Since our two tribes have met, why not travel together? There’s some comfort in that." A trace of cruelty showed in Lu Te’s slightly narrowed tiger eyes. "You surely understand that we’ll soon need to cross the Eneru River. It won’t be easy. If we cooperate, maybe we could lose fewer Orcs."
Lose fewer Orcs?
Ji Nuan was puzzled and tilted her body forward, asking Xiu Yan in a quiet whisper, "Brother Xiu Yan? Is crossing the river very dangerous?"
Xiu Yan’s wolf eyes darkened slightly. Thinking of a few of the Orcs that had died during the last tribal gathering, a dull ache grew in his heart. "There are two types of strange fish in the Eneru River. One is very long with tough scales. It’s hard for an Orc’s claws to injure them, but this kind of fish rarely appears. The other species of fish is small, but they attack in groups. Last time during the tribal gathering, one of our Orcs was completely devoured by a swarm of these fish while trying to protect the others. Even his bones were not left behind."
A chill ran down Ji Nuan’s spine. This was too terrifying!
"Are we planning to cross the river directly, without any preparations?" Ji Nuan’s voice trembled slightly.
Feeling her fear, Xiu Yan rubbed his massive wolf head against her forehead. His voice was deep, firm, and confident. "Don’t worry, I’ll protect you. I won’t let you be in danger."
Ji Nuan felt a surge of warmth in her heart, but mixed within it was anxiety. She had to think of a way to help. She had spent such a long time with the tribe; she couldn’t bear to watch anyone die.
"Clan Leader Uncle! Clan Leader Uncle!" Ji Nuan sat up straight and called out in a low voice to Clan Leader Ge Xing, who looked a bit upset at the moment.
But the Orcs’ hearing was very sharp. As soon as Ji Nuan called out, she felt eyes from all directions focused on her.
At this moment, a voice that made her shudder with dread sounded, bringing with it a hint of surprise. "Little female cub?"
Ji Nuan didn’t need to look back. She would never forget that slightly chill voice of the Snake Orc who nearly captured her, the shaman successor of the Tumang Tribe - Ya Li.
Feeling Ji Nuan’s body stiffening, Xiu Yan’s wolf tail swished, covering her body. His enormous wolf head was held high, shielding Ji Nuan, who was on his back.
(Xiu Yan cub cub, with your tail raised, you can’t cover your butt.)
An icy cold glare flashed through his wolf eyes, filled with undisguised killing intent.
Ya Li was a bit confused. This was his second time seeing the Silver Wolf Orc, and he really didn’t understand where such intense killing intent was coming from.
Xiu Yan’s deep and emotionless voice echoed through the group of beasts. "Uncle, Ji Nuan wants to speak with you."
Ge Xing nodded and, ignoring Lu Te, turned and walked toward Ji Nuan.
Lu Te’s eyes hardened. "Ge Xing, if you don’t want too many Orcs to die, you should consider my proposal. Moreover, you even bring a half-beast female who could be a hindrance."
Ji Nuan gathered her courage and sat up on Xiu Yan’s back. Speaking out loud, she said, "If you want to cross the river, go ahead. Our Watson Tribe will not cooperate with you."
Who knows if these ill-intentioned beasts plan to use our Watson Tribe’s Orcs as fish bait?
Ge Xing glanced at Ji Nuan, unsure of what to say. She looked back at him with a determined gaze, causing Ge Xing to instantly ease up. Ignoring Lu Te’s tantrum behind him, he walked toward Ji Nuan.
"Ya Li, do you know that half-beast female?" Lu Te asked ominously.
Ya Li quirked an eyebrow. "This is the half-beast female cub Shaman Benny mentioned, the one who discovered the new food source. I nearly brought her back to our tribe. You tell me if I know her."
"Hehe, then let’s figure out a way to bring her back to the tribe this time." Lu Te chuckled ominously.
Ya Li only glanced at him and didn’t respond, but the flicker in his eyes made it clear that he was not up to anything good.
"Ji Nuan cub cub, do you have any ideas on how to cross the Eneru River?" There was a hint of hope in Ge Xing’s eyes.
Ji Nuan touched her head and spoke softly, "Uncle Ge Xing, I haven’t thought of any solutions yet."
Ge Xing’s eyes flashed with disappointment, but he forced a smile. "It’s okay, we cross it like this every year."
"Uncle, even though I don’t have a solution now, it doesn’t mean I won’t think of one. Moreover..."
She glanced at the Tumang Tribe who were resting in the distance. "The Tumang Tribe’s beasts are so wicked. Who knows if they plan to use the beasts of our tribe to lure away those strange fish."
Ge Xing nodded. That could be the case. Lu Te, that damn tiger, is too crafty. It’s possible he’s scheming something. Can’t be fooled. Do we look stupid?
(Heh, you’re not stupid! You were about to agree just now!)
