Chapter 222: Chapter 221, Leaving _1
Upon hearing Samuel’s words, the Shaman stroked his beard and nodded. His favorite disciple indeed, demonstrating more foresight than even his own father.
"I disagree! I believe that the city walls can resist the beast attacks, and I think it’s great to stay here. There are so many sturdy and warm houses to live in, why would we want to venture out into the rain and suffer?" Sa Duoduo’s coquettish voice rang out from the side, as she looked somewhat dissatisfied at her brother.
The orcs around her shifted uncomfortably on the warm adobe platform, their eyes wavering.
Seeing his father’s doting look towards Sa Duoduo, Samuel’s gaze darkened. He lowered his head and remained silent.
The Shaman frowned and said, "My thinking is in line with Samuel’s. It’s too dangerous to stay here. We can’t forsake our tribe for these houses and walls!"
Sarkar looked coldly at the earnest old Shaman, "When I suggested cooperating with the Tumang Tribe, you did not agree and always stopped me. Now again, you oppose me. Are you dissatisfied with me as the Clan Leader?"
Sarkar’s words instantly silenced the old Shaman. Staring at the challenging Sarkar with a glacial look, and after a few heavy breaths, the Shaman, dressed in beast skin, stepped down from the platform. Tottering towards the door, he finally turned around to declare, "Alright then. I will lead those tribe members who are willing to migrate with me. Those who wish to stay may do so."
As the Shaman’s figure disappeared into the rain, Samuel’s heart turned icy. The Shaman, who had toiled for the tribe, was leaving just like that.
While the father-daughter duo continued dreaming about a better future, Samuel felt as if they were dancing on the precipice of death, ready to slip and fall at any moment.
Three days passed quickly. The orcs of the Watson Tribe gathered at the previous food storage cave entrance. Chief Ge Xing was instructing them on what to be careful about during the migration process, and the tribe members were quietly listening and taking notes.
Not far from the group, Sarkar and Sa Duoduo, along with the other orcs from the Green Mountain Tribe, stood together, casting cold glances at the Watson Tribe orcs.
Samuel, carrying a small bundle on his back, stood next to the Shaman with the other orcs from the Green Mountain Tribe, carefully listening to the instructions from Chief Ge Xing.
"Samuel, have you truly decided to leave with me? Your father and sister are here," the old teary-eyed Shaman said, looking at the cub who had grown up learning next to him.
Samuel shook his head. "Shaman, I’ve given it thought. I have my father and Sa Duoduo, and you only have me. After Amu died, you’ve been the one taking care of me. While I can’t change my father’s mind about staying, I can make up my own."
The Shaman wiped the corner of his eye, pride expressed cross his aged face. "Good lad, very good!"
The tribesmen were orderly lined up, each pair making their way through the small path in the food storage cave to the back of the mountain.
Here, formidable orcs were guarding to ensure the safety of the tribe members.
As the Watson Tribe orcs left, their previously bustling abode was now vacant with only a few Green Mountain Tribe orcs moving about. Ji Nuan’s house was occupied by Sa Duoduo and her companions.
Gloating at the spacious and comfortable courtyard, Sa Duoduo felt increasingly smug. "Humph! Ji Nuan, you took my Xiu Yan, and now I’ve taken your house. You can stay outside in the rain for all I care."
