Chapter 71: Chapter 67, scared the beast to death_1
The strength of the Orcs was indeed not something she could compare with. Standing in the Food Storage Cave with her hands on her hips, Ji Nuan nodded satisfactorily. In just two days, the cave was nearly filled with Stinky Fruits that Xiu Yan had collected. Only a space of about ten square meters at the entrance was left for cooking.
The prey that Xiu Yan had brought back two days ago had already been cut into strips by the Orcs, smeared with the powder of the Fruit of Divine Punishment, threaded with grass ropes, and hung out to dry on rows of wooden racks.
"Ji Nuan! Ji Nuan! Hurry to Grandma Shaman’s, the Clan Leader is injured, and Grandma asked me to fetch you." Fu Yi’s voice came from outside. Ji Nuan frowned slightly and hurriedly ran out.
"Uncle Ge Xing is injured? Is it serious?" As they hastened their steps, Ji Nuan used her fastest speed to keep up.
"Uncle Ge Xing’s leg was crushed, Shaman Ama said it wasn’t looking good, he may not be able to walk in the future." Fu Yi’s voice was slightly low, mixed with deep concern.
Ge Xing was a good Clan Leader, and under his leadership, the Watson Tribe increasingly strengthened its power within this forest. The Orcs of the tribe did not want anything to happen to such a powerful and wise Clan Leader.
Upon returning to the cave after processing some Beast Skins, Xiu Yan, not seeing Ji Nuan, furrowed his brows. He put down the cleaned Beast Skins he was holding and followed her scent, noticing Ji Nuan and Fu Yi’s anxiety, he asked with mild bewilderment, "What happened?"
Upon seeing Xiu Yan, a sense of unexplained relief washed over Ji Nuan, she said, "Uncle Ge Xing hurt his leg, Fu Yi said it’s quite serious, I’m going to take a look."
Noticing her panting while she spoke, Xiu Yan quickened his pace, lowered his tall and handsome body, firmly placing his arm around Ji Nuan’s legs, then lifted her up as if carrying a child.
The sudden change in height caused Ji Nuan to let out a small cry, followed by a cool voice ringing in her ear saying, "Hold on tight."
Immediately, the scenery around the tribe began to rapidly recede.
With her face buried in the smooth hair of the Orc, Ji Nuan’s face started to heat up.
"We’re here."
The moment the Orc put her down, Ji Nuan felt a hint of inexplicable regret. However, before she could dwell on it, she was embraced by Ge Ye who was sobbing uncontrollably.
"Woo~Ji Nuan, woo~ you have to save my father, woo~" Usually cheery and radiant like a small sun, this tearful outburst from her little buddy made Ji Nuan’s heart ache.
Patting her shoulder, Ji Nuan said: "Little Ye Zi, stop crying, let me go in and take a look first, ah!"
Sobbing, Ge Ye nodded then held Ji Nuan’s hand as they jogged into the cave.
The Shaman, Aunt Ge Rou, Aunt Naima, and Ge Tai were all present, the atmosphere inside the cave was heavy.
The thick smell of blood made Ji Nuan’s breath hitch, her heart sinking, she quickly knelt down beside the Beast Skin.
The usually robust and kindly Clan Leader was lying on the Beast Skin, his face pale, his eyebrows furrowed in pain, he was unconsciously groaning in his sleep.
The bloody and mangled legs had been cleaned by Grandma Shaman, a third of the lower right leg exposed the stark white bone. The wound was grotesquely terrifying.
Ji Nuan’s face turned pale, her hands shaking slightly.
Xiu Yan entered from outside the cave, upon seeing her pale face, felt a pang of heartache. He stepped over to her, leaned in close and whispered, "It was you who healed my wound, don’t worry, Uncle Ge Xing’s injury is just frightening to look at, it’s not as serious as mine was."
Ji Nuan’s heart relaxed slightly as she carefully examined the wound.
Indeed, the wound, though grisly and terrifying, had only caused a minor fracture to the exposed bone. After dressing the wound properly and immobilizing it, that should be sufficient.
"How is it? Can Ge Xing’s leg still be saved?" The Orcs have a strong ability to heal, their only concern was the injury to the bone. Because Ji Nuan had healed Xiu Yan, that’s why Grandma Shaman urgently summoned her.
Ji Nuan nodded, "It’s okay, I just checked, Uncle Ge Xing’s bone only has a minor fracture. After Grandma Shaman applies the herbal paste, I’ll immobilize it for Uncle Ge Xing. In the meantime, he should lie on the Beast Skin to recover, avoid moving around too much, otherwise the bone won’t heal properly."
All the Orcs nodded in relief.
"By the way, give me some of that powder, to give Ge Xing to drink!" The Shaman took out a stone bowl filled with clear water from a corner.
Ji Nuan took a small Beast Skin pouch from her bosom and carefully shook some of the Sharp Tooth Grass Powder into it.
Ge Tai gently elevated his father’s head, Xiu Yan took the bowl, and carefully fed it to him.
The effect of the Sharp Tooth Grass Powder was tremendous, and in no time at all, Ge Xing’s expression relaxed, he was no longer groaning in pain, and had fallen into a peaceful sleep.
"How did Uncle Ge Xing get injured?" Ji Nuan asked with some bewilderment.
Naima, finally assured of her partner’s stabilized condition, sighed, "The side cave at our home collapsed, your uncle got his leg pinned underneath in order to save me."
Ji Nuan’s heart skipped a beat, she exclaimed, eyes bulging, "The cave... collapsed!!!"
