Chapter 160: Chapter 160, Purney_1
Grandma Shaman didn’t directly answer Ji Nuan’s question. Instead, she turned to look at her and asked with a smile, "Do you think we should let them in?"
Ji Nuan’s gaze was indifferent as she looked at the Tumang Tribe’s orcs wailing miserably beneath the city wall: "Why should we let them in?"
Grandma Shaman’s old face broke into a wide smile: "Exactly, some acts of kindness are unnecessary."
"Meow!"
Suddenly, a soft meowing noise reached the ears of the beastmen. While the Watson Tribe’s orcs were taking pleasure in watching the spectacle from atop the city walls, a small kitten took the opportunity to sneak up there.
The cat had long craved the handsome beastman. There was no way it would miss this opportunity. Its eyes shining with excitement, it leapt from the city wall, aiming straight for Ya Li.
Upon hearing that familiar meow, Ya Li had a bad feeling. Sure enough, seeing that white furball pouncing from the city wall, tears streamed down Ya Li’s face.
Despite his internal refusal, Ya Li, being an orc, paled and braced himself to catch the plummeting cat.
The big cat scowled at the kitten held in Ya Li’s arms, if only it could yank it up and spank it.
Shaman Benny watched Grandma Shaman rather sheepishly from the city wall: "Purney, let us in, I swear to Lord Beast God that once we enter we won’t do anything detrimental to the Watson Tribe."
It was the first time Ji Nuan had heard anyone call Grandma Shaman by her name, Purney?
"Benny, I can let you in, and Lord Beast God wouldn’t agree for me to simply watch his children die.
But -- you have to swear to obey the rules of the Watson Tribe. If you go against them or do anything bad, we will expel or even kill you."
The Tumang Tribe’s orcs were already freezing, hungry and in pain, with barely enough consciousness left. Upon hearing her words, they all looked expectantly at Shaman Benny.
Benny’s eyes darkened, he looked around at his scarred tribesmen, grit his teeth and agreed.
In the end, all the orcs of the Tumang Tribe, under the supervision of Grandma Shaman, made their oaths one by one before they were let in behind the stone wall akin to a mountain range.
Then, the neatly arranged houses, and the peaceful and quiet atmosphere, made all the orcs of the Tumang Tribe envious enough to have red eyes, not to mention the enticing aroma of food wafting from the houses.
Chief Ge Xing allocated a Food Storage Cave to these orcs of the Tumang Tribe. Meanwhile, Ya Li was coordinating the orcs to haul in the humongous carcasses of the wild beasts from outside the city wall. The food they had brought with them had been lost during their escape.
"Sis..." As soon as Ji Nuan helped Grandma Shaman sit on the heated bed, she was startled by Shaman Benny’s call from behind. Chief Ge Xing, however, removed his beast skins nonchalantly and sat down.
Grandma Shaman pulled a face: "Don’t you call me ’sis’, after the snow stops, you go your own way and find your own food."
Benny chuckled bitterly: "Sis, we haven’t seen each other for a while, can’t we have a good talk?"
Grandma Shaman scoffed: "Benny, I know you too well, this won’t work on me. If you have anything to say, say it!"
Benny’s eyes flickered, the reminiscing expression on his face disappeared and he again put on the calm facade: "I want the remaining orcs from the Tumang Tribe to join the Watson Tribe."
