Chapter 255: Chapter 254, Reason_1
This really gave a good scare to the orcs around, what the cubs were playing with was definitely dangerous, what if something were to happen?
The orcs quickly stepped forward, their many hands quickly pulling the naughty cubs out of the cotton pile.
The fathers of the cubs picked up their little ones, striking their chubby bottoms hard. The playful cubs, used to such roughhousing with their fathers, assumed it was just another cozy play session, and began waving their chubby paws in the air, "howling" with delight. They looked like a bunch of hanging dumplings, round and incredibly cute.
The sight melted the hearts of the orcs. Exchanging a look, they could only set the mischievous cubs down and give their chubby bottoms another pat, "Run back to your mum, Amu, this is dangerous! Don’t play here again!"
Reticent to part from the cotton pile, the little faces of the cubs were filled with reluctance. But had to surrender to the stern faces of their fathers, hanging their heads low, before heading home in dejection.
Only when the cubs had returned to Amu’s side and began to playfully whimper and wail, did the orcs realize something wasn’t quite right!
"Eh? Isn’t ititchy anymore?
"Yeah, it doesn’t feel uncomfortable at all!"
"What’s going on?"
Ji Nuan held out his hand, shaking off the water, "Brother Xiu Yan, why don’t you give it a try? The orcs aren’t feeling itchy anymore!"
At this, the usually deep eyes of Xiu Yan widened in surprise as if a hint of disgruntlement was visible. How could he possibly touch those flowers that could cause distress to the orcs!
But Ji Nuan understood his dilemma. He chuckled a bit and quickly stepped forward to pat an orc on the arm and said, "Brother Xiu Yan, I only asked you to touch it because the other orcs weren’t affected."
He even blinked his eyes to emphasize.
(Look how serious I am!)
The eyes of the surrounding orcs instantly darkened: So it was only after we orcs tried it out and didn’t react that you dared to let Xiu Yan try it!
We’re really mad!
But Xiu Yan’s hurt feelings were instantly soothed by his words of reassurance. Givng him a nod, he agreed, "Fine, let me go and have a look."
With that, he turned around and took a handful of cotton, rubbing it with both hands.
Only then he looked back at Ji Nuan and said, "You’re right, it doesn’t itch at all!"
Ji Nuan nodding his chin in approval, "It must be because it has been left out in the sun!"
A neighboring orc then interjected, "But, how come the same plants next to the green mud still cause discomfort even when they are in the sun all the time?"
After a moment he added, "Maybe it’s because it was cut and left in sun that now it doesn’t make you itch!"
The orcs’ eyes went bright, "Yes! Why don’t we get more to try?"
True to their proactive nature, the orcs went forth immediately. In no time, several orcs with small mounds’ worth of cotton came bounding back.
After dumping the cotton on the ground, they raced away like beasts were on their tails, heading for the river.
Ji Nuan chuckled to himself and shook his head, "Alright everybody, time to break up, there’s nothing more to see. Get back to work on your houses so you can live comfortably!"
As soon as houses were mentioned, the orcs seemed to have had renewed energy, they rolled up their sleeves and got back to work.
