Chapter 93: Chapter 89, Departing for the Tribe Gathering_1
The open space in front of the Watson Tribe was bustling with activity. Ji Nuan hung a bundle on the large Silver Wolf beside him, a helpless look on his face.
Xiu Yan’s eyes were calm, but the continuously wagging tail behind him betrayed his good mood.
Elsewhere, Lei Er, bruised and battered, hid in a cave, gnawing on beast skin and whimpering. He felt immensely wronged; the despicable Xiu Yan had threatened him into giving up his spot at the tribal gathering. It was simply too mean.
"Shaman, I will be leaving with the tribesmen today. I have arranged everything for the hunting and patrolling. You will need to take care of the rest."
Ge Xing stood at the front of the queue, bidding farewell to Naima and the Shaman.
The Shaman nodded, "Don’t worry, take care on your way to the meeting place, and be especially wary of the beasts of the Tumang Tribe. Protect Ji Nuan well."
Chief Ge Xing’s gaze was solemn. "Rest assured, then we’re on our way. Naima, keep a close eye on Ge Ye lest she causes trouble again."
(Ge Ye: You truly are my dear father, indeed!)
"Alright."
"Orcs, let’s set off!" Chief Ge Xing waved his hand, transformed into his beast form, and sprinted into the forest. The horde of beasts behind him surged into a torrent, closely following his lead into the distance.
The Shaman watched as the tribal beast swarm disappeared into the depths of the forest. He then turned and walked back to the tribe. On the open space, the remaining tribesmen continued to calmly deal with the various foods brought back from hunting and gathering.
Under Ge Tai’s organization, the Hunting Team set off for the hunt. Aunt Naima, unable to hide her feelings anymore, began to gather the women for gathering.
The orcs moved at a fast pace, even with beast skins and other trade goods loaded on their backs. This did not affect their speed in the slightest.
Ji Nuan sat on Xiu Yan’s back, and the scenery swiftly retreated as the orcs ran.
Even though it was noon, only a few specks of sunlight penetrated the depths of the forest. The tall trees blocked the sun, and now and then they could see clusters of mushrooms. But they too, vanished quickly.
"Brother Xiu Yan, how long will it take us to reach the tribal gathering place?" Ji Nuan asked, lying on Xiu Yan’s back, a white beast skin draped over him to keep the cold away.
A deep voice resonated, cool and magnetic, "It will take about 4 days to get there. We will spend about 5 days exchanging goods at the meeting place, and then we need to hurry back to prepare for the winter."
In that case, a round trip would take about half a month. Hopefully, they could trade for some good items.
Along the way, apart from eating and taking turns to rest at night, everyone pushed hard to cover ground.
On the third day, Ji Nuan, drowsy on Xiu Yan’s back, noticed a change in the surrounding light. When he opened his eyes, he couldn’t help but tear up.
The sun hung high in the sky, its searing rays pouring down. They had left the forest and were now standing on a vast plain.
A gleaming river divided the plain into two. The grass on the plain was abundant and juicy. Green Bull Beasts and yellow sheep herds could be seen hidden within. Distinct bird calls could be heard from the reed marshes in the distance.
Now and then, a big Giggle Beast would strut across the grass, leading a group of fluffy little ones. They would disappear into another patch of grass.
Ji Nuan was bright-eyed. This place was simply too wonderful.
She leaned in and asked Xiu Yan in a quiet voice, "Brother Xiu Yan, do any tribes live here?"
Xiu Yan shook his head, his voice grave, "There are no tall trees or dense forests in this place, and there isn’t an abundance of game. Most importantly, there aren’t any large mountains for digging caves. It’s not a suitable place to live, so no tribe lives here. After trading, we all hurry back to our own tribes."
Ji Nuan nodded. Her house had not been built yet in the tribe, and she hadn’t planted any food, so if she suggested moving the tribe here, people would think she was crazy.
Once crops and livestock in the tribe had been properly developed, and houses built, she could suggest moving here. This large expanse would rightfully belong to the Watson Tribe. The thought of it was so wonderful.
"Alright, let’s rest here for a while. Once we cross the Eneru River, we’ll be at the tribal gathering place. Those of you who are here for the first time, remember this. In the future, when we old folks aren’t around anymore, it will be up to you to lead the tribe to the gathering."
Chief Ge Xing always said this, but none of the orcs grew tired of hearing it. This was how traditions were passed down in the tribe.
"Ha ha, I knew it! I heard Chief Ge Xing’s voice from a distance, and sure enough, it’s the Watson Tribe!"
Suddenly, a loud laugh rang out from the forest, and a large tiger with black and yellow stripes jumped out from the dense vegetation, followed by a large number of imposing beasts.
