Chapter 57: Chapter 53, Unexpected Events Always Happen Unintentionally_1
Approaching the Snake Beast Orc with a cold smirk at the corner of his lips, Ji Nuan squatted down. He patted the dust-stained hands that had grilled meat: "Of course it was something nice for you to eat! Was the grilled meat delicious?"
Ya Gu had a sinister look: "You put something in the grilled meat?"
Chucking twice, Ji Nuan stood up. The small feet clad in beast skin kicked Ya Gu’s belly hard a few times. Yet, seeing that the Snake Beast Orc’s complexion hadn’t changed a bit, he curled his lips in disdain.
After ingesting the powder of the Sharp Tooth Grass, its effects are far more severe than when applied to wounds.
If applying to wounds is like local anesthesia, then ingesting it would be whole body anesthesia. And it lasts for a very long time.
"Stay here by yourself, I’m heading back to the Tribe!" Having said that, he ignored Ya Gu’s murderous gaze, turning around to the fire to extinguish it.
He took one last look at the completely paralyzed Snake Beast Orc, raising his chin with a "hmph" and then headed off the way he came.
Watching Ji Nuan’s figure disappearing from sight, Ya Gu was on the verge of materialising his inner gloom.
Who would have thought that a powerful orc from the Tumang Tribe such as himself would be outwitted by a small, skinny female cub and all wobbly lying here. If a large Ferocious Beast were to appear now, his fate would have been sealed today.
Ji Nuan’s journey back was not a peaceful one. He tried to avoid areas with tall trees as much as possible, in case the Snake Beast Orc’s ally, the gorilla, returns. Otherwise, his earlier escape effort would have been wasted.
"Roar ~ roar ~ " Suddenly, a familiar roar made Ji Nuan stop in his tracks. Somewhat in disbelief, he dug his ears out. Was that just...?
"Roar roar ~" Indeed, the familiar, cute roar echoed from the woods not far ahead.
Ji Nuan’s eyebrows raised, he hastened towards the source of the noise. Pushing through the meter-high bushes, a chubby, golden little creature came into view.
A lion cub!!!!!!!!
How did this little guy get here, and how could he dare to venture out on his own!
Seeing Ji Nuan, the lion cub was clearly very excited. Its round and fuzzy face lit up at the sight of him, it roared and ran towards Ji Nuan, waving its four fat little paws.
Seeing the cub’s chubby body bouncing towards him, Ji Nuan quickly stepped forward to pick him up. He patted the cub’s moist little nose: "You little one, how dare you run out on your own? Don’t you know it’s dangerous?"
"Don’t worry, I brought him here, it’s safe." A clear voice sounded at the front.
Following the voice, didn’t the beast with a bright face happen to be the Lightning Mink Cat Beast Orc that Grandma Shaman redeemed from Manli last time!
Lifting the chubby cub in his hands, Ji Nuan looked at the beast before him: "What are you guys doing here?"
"Grandma Shaman had something to discuss with you, asked me to fetch you, but you weren’t there.
After reporting back to Grandma Shaman, I thought of looking for you at the Stinky Fruit Forest. But this little guy insisted on coming along, so I brought him."
Speaking of the lion cub, there was a deep sense of helplessness in Fu Yi’s eyes. Clearly, he had gone through some troubles too.
"We just arrived not long ago and heard that you were captured by a Snake Beast Orc. I’ve seen that Snake Beast Orc, so I brought him along to find you.
By the way, where is the Snake Beast Orc who captured you? How come you’re here alone?" Fu Yi looked behind Ji Nuan with some confusion.
There was a trace of a smile at the corner of Ji Nuan’s mouth: "I drugged him. He can’t move at all now, and it should take him more than a day to recover."
Looking at the skinny little female cub in front of him with some surprise, Fu Yi wisely didn’t ask what kind of drug it was. This was the shaman’s skill and not something he could inquire about.
"Is the Snake Orc up ahead?" Fu Yi pointed a not so far distance behind her and asked.
Ji Nuan nodded, "Yes, it’s by the stream. I didn’t go far before I ran into you."
"Alright, you and cubbie wait here for a moment, I’ll go find that Snake Orc to take back to our tribe. We might be able to extract some information from it."
Ji Nuan nodded, "You go ahead, I’ll gather some fruit nearby to eat."
Having heard Grandma Shaman say that the speed of the Lightning Mink Cat Beast Orc was swift, Ji Nuan secretly sighed when she saw Fu Yi disappear in a flash after transforming into his Orc form. He truly lived up to his reputation.
She stroked the cub’s sleek, shiny fur: "You little rascal. It’s dangerous, and you dared to follow me."
She pinched his chubby legs: "Your legs are going to grow crooked. No female is going to want you then!"
Xiu Yan, the cub, rolled his eyes in secret. Although he was in a cub’s body now, his healing ability was as powerful as an orc’s.
It wasn’t completely healed, but at least it wouldn’t grow crooked as this little female cub said.
"Howl!" Suddenly, a fierce wolf howl came from behind. Ji Nuan’s nerves instantly tensed, what was happening?
"Hiss~" A sharp sound came from behind. The little lion cub in Ji Nuan’s arms immediately raised its round head. Its casually waving little tail became alert and rigid behind him, his fluffy little ears stood tall, and his furry face looked serious.
The call of the Lightning Mink was covert, only the Orcs of the same tribe could distinguish it. Fu Yi was signaling them just now, but the little female cub couldn’t hear it.
Xiu Yan jumped down from Ji Nuan’s arms, "howled" twice, and then ran in the opposite direction of where the sound came from.
After a while, he looked back and saw the little female cub looking at the back with a face like she was facing a great enemy, ready to move at any moment. Xiu Yan was certain, she wanted to go back.
His little head hurt instantly. With his uncooperative short legs, he pitter-pattered back, raised his chubby claw and scratched the little female cub’s beast skin shoes a few times. When she lowered her head, he "howled" twice more, took two steps, then "howled" again.
"Are you asking me to follow you?" Ji Nuan finally understood the little one’s intent.
Xiu Yan, the cub, nodded.
"What about Fu Yi?" Ji Nuan was still worried about the young Orc. She had medicinal powder on her, which might be helpful.
Before she could speak, the little lion cub shot her a disdainful look, causing Ji Nuan to swallow her words.
True. Nothing could match the speed of the Lightning Mink. As long as she and the cub didn’t lag behind, escape would not be an issue.
She had underestimated Fu Yi’s capacity.
After running for a long while and ensuring they wouldn’t be chased, she finally stopped. Leaning against a large tree, Ji Nuan gasped for breath.
She was exhausted.
However, the little lion cub stood in front of Ji Nuan, slightly crouching down, making threatening sounds in his throat. His sharp little white teeth were dangerously drawn, his sharp claws were exposed on his four chubby paws, transforming his chubby body into a straight line.
"Little cub is pretty alert and cautious. But it’s not much use!"
Before Ji Nuan could catch her breath, a strange yet familiar voice came from the top of the tree.
