Chapter 88: Chapter 84, Scared the Beast to Death_1
"That’s because you’re smart and discovered how to eat the purple fruit. We used to use that delicious purple fruit rice to decorate caves and feed birds and beasts!" Her chubby face scrunched up in a comic grimace of distress.
"Alright, I’ll make something delicious for you today, thanks for your help!" Ji Nuan playfully mussed her messy hair in gratitude for helping.
Ge Ye’s eyes lit up at the mention of food, but soon dimmed as she pouted, "I can’t. Today, Di Feng is making stir-fried meat slices and has asked me to join them specifically for dinner."
The smile on Ji Nuan’s face froze. This sudden ’dog food’ was totally unexpected.
(Cough cough~ A chilling shower of ’dog food’ on the face!)
Outside the cave, hidden from the view of the females, a tall figure was secretly lurking, a cunning expression on his handsome yet cold face.
Smug, Xiu Yan snorted inwardly: All those competing for the female babes, I’ll get rid of them, hm~
Humming a little melody of victory in his heart, he carried his prey and went happily downstream.
Yes, tomorrow he would continue to seek cooperation with Di Feng and his group.
···
"Ah!!!" A fearful shout shattered the afternoon tranquility of the tribe. Ji Nuan springing up from her beast skin bed, washing off the green muck on her hands and quickly running towards the open ground.
On her way, she encountered a tear-streaked Ge Ye. The usually rosy-cheeked girl was deathly pale with fear.
The sight of Ji Nuan prompted her to burst into tears, sobbing uncontrollably in her arms, shaking with fear.
Ji Nuan gently patted her back, soothing her with a soft voice, "What happened? I heard a female’s scream, did something happen?"
"Bug... hic... bug disease!" Ge Ye choked out, leaving Ji Nuan confused.
Song Yu sighed next to them, "It’s Lei Er’s sister, Bailan, her bug disease has erupted. She was just salting meat in the open area when she suddenly started screaming and rolling on the ground. Then bugs began crawling out from her mouth, nose, and ears. Little Ye Zi was scared too!"
Ge Ye lifted her head from Ji Nuan’s embrace, "Wu wu wu~ Anuan, I don’t want to wait for the bug disease to erupt, it’s too scary, wu wu wu~"
Erupt? That sounded like something dormant!
Grasping Ge Ye’s hand, Ji Nuan urgently asked, "Do you also have the bug disease?"
Ge Ye nodded, "All the females in the tribe have the bug disease, even many of the orcs have it. The reason why there are so few females in the tribe now, is because they died from the eruption of the bug disease, wu wu wu~ Anuan, I’m really scared!"
Ji Nuan was stupefied. Did that mean she also had this disease?
Handing Ge Ye to Song Yu, she said "Song Yu, can you take Little Ye Zi home first? I’ll go to the open ground and check."
Song Yu nodded, picking up the still sobbing Ge Ye, and ran towards their cave.
The closer to the open space, the clearer the frightening screams became.
Two tall orcs were frantically pacing around, pulling their own hair, tears streaming down their faces. Faced with the terrifying bug disease, they felt helpless. The orcs of the past also experienced this, helplessly watching their companions suffer and die.
"Grandma Shaman, how is it?" Ji Nuan rushed to Shaman and Chief Ge Xing’s side, where the members of the tribe watched the convulsing figure on the open ground with red eyes, the atmosphere heavy and sad.
Another female was about to die. The Shaman sighed heavily, and shook her head in despair.
Carefully moving through the crowd of orcs, Ji Nuan finally saw the convulsing female figure on the ground, surrounded by white, writhing worms. More worms poked their heads out of her nose and ears. The expression on Bailan’s face was terrifying from the pain.
Ji Nuan’s eyes narrowed, this was...
Roundworms?
How could there be so many? And these roundworms were way too aggressive!
Suddenly, something came to her mind, she turned around and ran towards the stream at the edge of the tribe.
She recalled some large pumpkins growing alongside the river were ripe, but she didn’t pick them yet, wanting to collect the seeds to plant in the tribe next year.
She forgot where she read it, but dried pumpkin seeds ground into powder and consumed seemed to cure roundworm disease.
The large pumpkin at the edge of the river had been gnawed away by some animal, left to literally cook in the sun, draining the moisture from the pumpkin flesh.
Ji Nuan picked up the pumpkin and returned to the open ground of the tribe. She placed the dried pumpkin seeds and pumpkin flesh in a stone bowl and quickly pounded them into a coarse powder.
She then dumped this powder into a wooden bucket next to her, filling the bucket with water before fighting her way into the crowd.
"Ji Nuan, come out quickly, be careful that those bugs get into your body!"
"Come out quickly, don’t go in!"
Seeing Ji Nuan doing this, the tribespeople quickly grabbed her. What could a young girl do against such terrifying bugs, even the Shaman didn’t have a cure!
Unable to break free from the tribespeople’s grip, Ji Nuan handed the wooden bucket in her hands to one of Bailan’s partners, "Quickly, give her this water to drink, I’ve put medicine powder in it."
