Chapter 270: Chapter 269: Thank You Gift_1
In the midst of the beasts’ conversation, Xiu Yan had already rushed to Ji Nuan’s side. He swiftly took her into his arms from Ying Da, holding her tightly as though he was holding his entire world.
Ji Nuan, still frightened, clung to Xiu Yan, realizing just how much she didn’t want to lose the orc that was him until she faced death moments ago.
Ying Yan and the other beasts followed closely, flapping their wings. The fearsome game they had just hunted was carelessly discarded. Ji Nuan’s attack had scared them so much their hearts nearly leapt out of their throats. They paid no mind to the damned beast they had caught, racing over here for their lives.
It took Ji Nuan a while before she softly patted Xiu Yan’s back, whispering, "Brother Xiu Yan, I’m all right now, really!"
Upon hearing her words, Xiu Yan pulled her even closer.
In a place Ji Nuan couldn’t see, Xiu Yan’s profound eyes were showing a pure gold color that was unlike their usual state. Even though they ringed brightly under normal circumstances, at that moment they were filled with unending savage and murderous intent.
It took some time consoling Ji Nuan before Xiu Yan slightly loosened his grip around her arm. She patted his arm lightly and suggested, "Let’s go back, Brother Xiu Yan. Everything’s okay."
Ji Nuan’s voice was gentle and soft, just like a warm breeze brushing past in spring.
Xiu Yan, with his head lowered, turned Ji Nuan around and carried her on his back. His voice was hoarse as he said, "Nuannuan, hold on tight."
Although she didn’t know what Xiu Yan intended to do, Ji Nuan obediently wrapped her arms tightly around his neck and coiled her legs around his solid waist.
Seeing Ji Nuan already in his arms, Xiu Yan finally raised his rage-filled eyes. With a single flap of his wings, he reached the big tree where Ji Nuan had just been hiding.
The Snake Beast that had just attacked Ji Nuan was still coiled around the tree trunk, flicking its forked tongue. Its triangular-shaped eyes were cold as it faced the incoming Xiu Yan. It stood upright, ready to attack.
Xiu Yan charged straight at the python without slowing down. As soon as the python shot out, he moved to its side with a flap of his wings, his eyes were filled with a cold glint, revealing his vicious claws and slashing down ruthlessly on the Snake Beast’s seventh inch.
The Snake Beast, which had been extraordinarily fierce mere moments ago, little more than a whimper, then its body hung loosely on the tree trunk.
The continuing beasts who watched this savage scene from afar started to sweat profusely. Xiu Yan was becoming more and more brutal. He had ended such a massive Snake Beast with a single swipe of his claw?
Xiu Yan hoisted up the Snake Beast’s body and flew in front of Ying Da. He threw the body casually in Ying Da’s direction.
Catching the Snake Beast’s body that Xiu Yan tossed over, Ying Da was thrown into a flurry due to its heavy weight. He grabbed the body with a snarl, and gave Xiu Yan a confused look, saying, "What is this?"
Xiu Yan’s eyes had already returned to normal. He looked at Ying Da with sincere gratitude in his deep eyes, saying, "It’s my thank you, for saving Nuannuan earlier."
Ying Da laughed sheepishly, "Last time in Watson Tribe, Ji Nuan gave me food. It’s no big deal, this Snake Beast..."
Immediately Ji Nuan poked her head from behind Xiu Yan, "Just take it. I’m deathly afraid of snakes. I wouldn’t dare eat it, even if it were taken home. It’s such a waste, so why not take it back for your tribe to share!"
Upon hearing this, imagining all that food being wasted, Ying Da felt an acute heartache. The way he looked at Ji Nuan was as though looking at a spendthrift.
