Chapter 106: Chapter 102, Cave?_1
Ji Nuan gave a glance at Chief Ge Xing and sighed helplessly, "If Sarkar is really close to the Tumang Tribe, we’ll have to be on guard."
While it’s wrong to harm the beasts, we must always protect against them."
Despite his sadness, Ge Xing nodded in agreement.
The attitude of the two beasts eased the tension Chief Ped was feeling, and his heart settled in an instant.
He had hesitated for a moment about informing them after seeing Ge Xing and Sarkar appear very friendly, but now it seemed that his decision was correct.
After finishing their conversation, the three continued on their journey.
It was then that Ji Nuan noticed something unusual about the Silver Wolf Orc beneath her, "Brother Xiu Yan, what’s wrong with you?"
His usually alert ears were drooping listlessly, and his tail was hanging down dejectedly. His mournful eyes flashed towards her from time to time.
Seeing the female’s dumbfounded expression, Xiu Yan sighed deeply in his heart: life as a beast is indeed hard.
The air in the forest was very humid, and hot vapors rose up, so Ji Nuan felt as if she were being steamed in a cage, which was very uncomfortable.
"Everyone, pick up the pace. We’re almost at the assembly grounds." Chief Ge Xing, who had experienced the betrayal of a friend, called out to the tribesmen to speed up their march.
The tribesmen all let loose and began to run at their own speed.
The sun in the sky was already dragging its tired body home after a hard day’s work.
The moon, which was about to take over, was peeking quietly from behind the clouds, examining the grounds where she would soon hold sway.
The rumbling sound of running tribesmen in the forest scared off a group of birds, and even the normally fierce wild animals stealthily hid in their homes, occasionally peeking out in anticipation of these unexpected guests leaving as soon as possible, so as not to delay their dinner time.
By the time they arrived at the assembly grounds, it was late at night, and the arrival of the two tribes caused a commotion within the camp.
The camp was located in a huge basin, and the left half had already been occupied by several tribes.
The ground was covered with straw beds and items for exchange.
The Watson Tribe and the Liangshan Tribe chose a spot on the right side, and the two tribes decided to settle next to each other after a discussion.
The tribesmen began gathering straw.
Thinking of the open-air beddings she had seen earlier, Ji Nuan couldn’t help but grimace. If it rains, wouldn’t they all be taking a bath?
She quickly stood up with the help of Dashi, "Everyone, don’t rush to make the straw nests. We can build tents on this higher ground. In case it rains, we can take shelter, and they’re also good for cooling down under the midday sun."
She Wu, who had happily brought back a bundle of dry grass, looked curiously at her. His dark blue hair was strewn with a few straws, creating a wildly attractive look, "Ji Nuan, what’s a tent?"
The other tribesmen paused their work and circled around Ji Nuan, putting their bundles of grass on the grounds.
Ji Nuan smiled and replied, "I can’t explain it well. How about we just go ahead and set up a tent? Then you guys will know what it is."
With that, she turned with a pitiful look towards Xiu Yan.
Xiu Yan, the Silver Wolf Orc, stood up straight with a look of indifference in his eyes. He asked the eager young female, "What do you need?"
Ji Nuan wanted to set up the simplest form of a tent, so she asked with a sweet smile, "We need several Jiejie trees. Could you please get them for me, Brother Xiu Yan?"
Actually, to Ji Nuan, a Jiejie tree was the same as bamboo in China; they were just different names for the same thing.
Xiu Yan nodded and his handsome figure disappeared into the forest.
The Jiejie tree forest was not far from the camp, just around the edge of the basin. Soon Xiu Yan returned, carrying a pile of Jiejie trees.
Under Ji Nuan’s direction, they began to build the tent skeleton. Four bamboo poles on each side were crossed and tied firmly with sturdy vines, and another bamboo pole was fixed on top.
The poles were sunk deep into the ground by Xiu Yan’s fist, so deep that it seemed they couldn’t be pulled out even with all the strength she could muster.
They then fixed thinner bamboo poles on both sides of the tent skeleton, covered them with a layer of dry grass, and placed large leaves, which were commonly found in the Beast World, on top for waterproofing.
The simple tent was assembled. Ji Nuan looked at the straw shed that had been perfectly built under her guidance; in her heart, she silently praised herself, totally awesome!
She Wu’s eyes lit up as he examined the "cave" made of tree trunks, dry grass, and leaves. He hopped over to Ji Nuan, "Ji Nuan, can we make a cave like this too?"
Ji Nuan nodded with a smile, "Of course, this is a tent. You can make it bigger by adding a few more bamboo poles. Several people can sleep in it together."
The tribesmen cheered softly. After visiting Ji Nuan’s shelter, they went off with their brothers to cut bamboo and build tents.
