Chapter 60: Chapter 56, It’s me, indeed me!_1
When placing the cub on the ground, it hooked its paw on her beast skin clothes, looking aggrieved and accusatory, its eyes full of hurt.
Ji Nuan picked him up as soon as she understood. She stroked the messy fur, "Alright, cub, don’t cry. Your big sister won’t leave you alone anymore. Be good~"
Did she even understand him? Ah, she didn’t get his feelings at all! How frustrating!
Unable to speak as he returned to his cub form, Xiu Yan could only protest with a couple of frustrated howls.
He raised one chubby paw and pointed at the almost-dead snake orc on the open ground in front, "Owuuuu!"
Following the direction of Xiu Yan’s chubby paw, Ji Nuan felt a chill crawling up her spine. Her strength returned instantly and she was able to stand up from the ground.
She first looked around but failed to find the golden figure she saw before losing consciousness, "Didn’t Brother Ge Tai come here? Why is he not here now? Did he go to save Fu Yi?"
She then looked down at the cub in her arms, "Little one, did you see the Brother Ge Tai who saved us? A very mighty big lion!"
Xiu Yan’s chubby body stiffened. His round little face instantly puffed up, making him look even rounder. He shot Ji Nuan an annoyed look, gave her a strong kick, and jumped out of her arms.
He ran a few steps backward, turned his head, and glared at Ji Nuan with a hint of disdain in his round eyes, "Wow~"
Seeing Ji Nuan catching up, Xiu Yan led the way with his chubby bottom wiggling in front of her.
Ji Nuan glanced back at the giant snake orc lying on the ground. Its dark scales glowed with an icy light under the sun. Its sinister eyes staring at them with an eerie intensity gave Ji Nuan goosebumps.
"Wow, wow~" This stupid girl does not understand how strong an orc’s regeneration is. Even though the snake orc is severely injured, it will recover soon. Rather than taking this opportunity to escape, she’s dilly-dallying around. What a fool.
Hearing the urging roars of the little lion cub, Ji Nuan turned around and followed him, taking the chance to move as far away from the injured snake orc as possible.
She definitely did not want to be caught by its tail again.
After the two creatures disappeared into the forest, Ya Li’s gaze darkened. The golden lion cub was able to transform without using transformation grass. That meant the Watson Tribe was going to have another powerful orc. This was not good.
Moving his body slightly, the severe pain at his neck made him feel as though he was poisoned. That damned lion had injured him so badly.
With no other choice, Ya Li laid flat on the ground, deciding that he will report this whole lion ordeal to the Shaman and Clan Leader once he returns to the Tribe.
A cold glint flashed in his eyes. If that annoying creature could be eliminated quickly, that would be even better.
As Ji Nuan followed the little cub’s running pace for a while, a burning pain throbbed in her chest.
"Lit...little...guy, don’t...run...anymore, let’s...rest for a bit!" Ji Nuan leaned against a tree to catch her breath, watching the disdainful cub in front of her with envy and jealousy.
This chubby little creature was surprisingly resilient. His short, fat legs nimbly moved as he ran at an alarmingly fast pace.
Xiu Yan parked his chubby bottom on the grass, looking at the heavily panting Ji Nuan disdainfully. He felt rather disgusted. This girl was way too weak. She got exhausted just from running this short distance.
"Shasha~ Shasha~" The sound of rustling grass startled him. His previously drooping ears shot straight up.
Something was approaching.
"Whoosh~" The sight of golden fur made Ji Nuan cover her eyes, almost getting blinded by its brightness.
"Mountain cub, I finally found you!" Ge Tai’s relieved voice sounded in her ears.
Surprised, Ji Nuan lowered her hand. As expected, a majestic lion stood not too far from them, "Brother Ge Tai, did you just go to save Fu Yi? How is he?"
Ge Tai stood upright, transforming into a tall, muscular orc. With confusion evident in his eyes, Ge Tai continued, "We just dealt with a Gorilla Orc from the Tumang Tribe and then came here to find you.
I smelled your scent, that’s why I came. The other orcs went to rescue Fu Yi after they received the distress signal. Are you guys okay?"
Ji Nuan stood straight, looking confused, "The cub transformed, and I was captured by Ya Li. Then a grown-up golden lion saved me... I thought it was you."
Ge Tai shook his head: "No, it wasn’t me. I just arrived here... "
Suddenly, his gaze shifted to the cub sitting between them. His face changed dramatically: "You said this little guy transformed?!!!"
Ji Nuan was startled by his reaction and nodded blankly, "Yes, when I was captured, the cub was transforming..."
As she spoke, Ji Nuan realized something wasn’t right. Brother Ge Tai arrived just now, and the one who saved her was a golden lion orc, and the cub transformed...
Her gaze shifted downward, and Ji Nuan stared at the chubby little cub on the ground. Did that mean that the one who rescued her was...
