Chapter 165: Chapter 164, Victory_1
The Orcs, each busy with their own tasks, failed to notice a beast slipping past them to charge at the unprotected cave.
A female and cub’s screams echoed from inside the cave, causing the Orcs outside to stiffen in horror and turn.
At the mouth of the cave, a long-haired beast was charging out, half its body sticking out of the hole, the ’crack crack’ sounds of it chewing echoing from its mouth.
Percy roared angrily and charged back, clamping onto the beast’s neck that was still savoring its food. His bite powered by rage was incredibly forceful, piercing the beast’s thick shaggy fur.
"Roar!" The beast howled in pain, the sound so intense it shook loose the snow from the treetops.
The beast, pulled back by Percy, swung its limbs towards Percy, who was still biting onto its neck.
"Percy, watch out!!!"
"Howl!"
"Roar!"
A piercing beast roar echoed in the air, causing the beast behind Percy to stumble, shake its head, tuck its tail between its legs then turn to run.
However, maybe it was unlucky, its sneak attack was seen by the other beasts. Chief Ped and a dozen other beasts rushed forward, and in no time, the beast had kicked its legs in the air then fell silent.
(The food is still untouched, now the beast is gone, what’s the point!)
Percy released his bite, jumped a distance away, his furry beast face was filled with surprise looking at the group of strange Orcs who had suddenly appeared.
The Orcs surged forward, with over a dozen against one, the battle ended in an instant.
"Father, you’re finally back!" Percy excitedly ran towards his father, for a gentle rub. His heart felt instantly secure.
"Chief Ped, we should first check on the female and the cubs in the cave!" A soft voice came from the crowd of beasts, making Percy and the Liangshan tribe’s Orcs turn in surprise.
A particularly massive and muscular Silver Wolf Orc had a small female cub sitting on it, her worried eyes looking towards the direction of the cave.
Percy came back to his senses, "a beast had just run into the cave!"
Upon hearing this, Chief Ped turned and ran inside.
The cave was filled with cries, and the scene looked particularly distressing with bloodstains everywhere. Several elder Orcs lay on the ground, covered in blood. The females had stones in their hands, huddled up, shielding the cubs behind them.
Seeing their chief entering, they relaxed, slumped to the ground crying. The small, furry cubs, seeing their mother cry, pouted, and began to wail along.
Chief Ped could only feel a throbbing headache.
One by one, the orcs outside entered to console their mates and cubs.
Dena approached Chief Ped with teary eyes and said, "Shaman is dead!"
Chief Ped’s pupils constricted at her words: "How could this be..."
"All the medicinal herbs were given to the females and cubs. Shaman’s been having a fever for days, but he didn’t want to use the herbs. He couldn’t eat food in the end and could only drink snow water every day. Today...he..." Dena could not lower her voice while saying this.
The cave erupted with a fresh wave of cries. This time, even Chief Ped couldn’t help but tear up.
Ji Nuan helped the Orcs tend to their wounds while Chief Ped led the others to bury Shaman on the land that he had lived on.
