Chapter 250: Chapter 249, Return to the Tribe_1
A sulky Ying Da flapped his wings towards the tribal territory, grumbling in his heart: "That Chief Ge Xing really is a cheapskate. It’s true that he felt embarrassed after devouring three large bowls of other people’s food, but there was really no need for the Orc to throw him down from that place called the city wall, right?"
The sad thing is, thanks to his being an Eagle Beast, his small wings could, at least, flap away! Otherwise, he would’ve been dead!
Ying Da took another stroll along the edge of the forest. The Beast Group was still there, absolutely unaffected, taking shelter in the forest and avoiding the sunlight.
Ying Da felt a sense of sinking within. He swiftly flew towards the tribe’s dwelling place. He’d remained absent for the entire night and was unsure of the state of anxiety the tribespeople must be in.
...
"Ying Da’s back! Ying Da’s back!" The very second Ying Da’s figure appeared in the air above the tribal territory. The Orcs on patrol spotted him and their exhilarating shouts of joy echoed around the entire tribe’s dwelling place.
The joy was warranted, after all, their tribe only had one treasured Eagle Orc. If something had happened to him, how could they cope with the loss?
Ying Da landed on the open ground in front of the Clan Leader’s cave. From inside the cave, footsteps could be heard. Four clan leaders ran out, their eyes brimming with excitement. Chief Shi Jie and the Bear Clan Leader’s faces even bore visible marks of injury.
A thought struck Ying Da: he hadn’t come home last night and now the two clan leaders had been fighting?
Shi Jie quickly walked forward and patted Ying Da’s shoulder, circling him and sizing him up, before finally heaving a big sigh of relief. "You pernicious lad, where on earth did you trot off to? We thought, we actually thought that something dire had happened to you!"
The Bear Clan Leader gazed at Ying Da remorsefully: "It’s all my fault. I was the one who suggested that you visit the Watson Tribe. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have run into danger."
Sangguo and Teng Kui also inspected the returnee, their hearts pounding with excitement.
Rubbing his head awkwardly, Ying Da glanced at the teeming crowd of Orcs around him and spoke softly, "Clan Leader, should we take this conversation inside?"
Shi Jie took in the surroundings and smilingly said, "Alright, let’s move this inside. The important thing is, Ying Da is back safe. The rest of you go about your business."
Saying that, he led Ying Da to the cave.
The group of Orcs settled on mats made of Beast Skin.
Chief Shi Jie asked, "What happened? Why didn’t you come back after heading out yesterday?"
Touched at the clan leader’s concern, Ying Da began to explain: "After examining the Beast Waves in the forest yesterday, I went to the plains. Just as I laid eyes on their wall, the Orcs from the Watson Tribe knocked me out. They brought me back to the Watson Tribe. I only came to my senses at night."
The Bear Clan Leader looked surprised: "You’re saying that there are still living Orcs in the Watson Tribe?"
Ying Da nodded: "Yes, and it wasn’t just a few Orcs. Not a single Orc from the Watson Tribe died in the Beast Wave. They have tall, thick walls that protect them. The Beast Wave couldn’t enter their territory. And, they have an abundance of food. The Orcs don’t even desire meat anymore, they prefer something called ’fish.’"
At this point, his eyes filled with longing and envy.
The four clan leaders in the cave looked at Ying Da skeptically. Teng Kui furrowed his brows: "Ying Da, are you sure you weren’t dreaming? How can we not know about something on the plains that can fend off the Beasts?"
Sangguo nodded: "Yeah, we’re all running out of food. We are almost out of the food we stored for the harsh season. If we four major tribes are on the brink of depletion, how can the upstream smaller tribe, have more food than us?"
