Chapter 170: Chapter 169, Grievance_1
Ji Nuan nodded, "I see!"
She pulled out a palm-sized sachet made of beast skin from her arms, "This is some curative powder I have for insect infestations. You can take it!"
She had brought it along just in case, never envisioning that it would actually come in handy.
Overjoyed, Bosson took the small sachet that was less than half the size of his palm, carefully handling it as if it were a precious object, before tucking it securely within his arms.
"Divide this powder into three portions once you get back. After consuming the first portion, one would either vomit or squat in the bushes to expel a significant amount of worms," Ji Nuan explained in detail. Bosson listened attentively, taking note of her instructions.
Just as he was about to ask, "What if we eat it and ..."
"Awooo!" The urgent howl of a wolf filled with ire echoed through the woods, interrupting Bosson’s question.
The surrounding foliage parted swiftly as the Orcs from the Watson and Tumang tribes issued threatening growls and surrounded these unfamiliar Orcs.
The imposing Silver Wolf stepped forward, his sharp fangs partially visible and his eyes brimming with a lethal frostiness.
"Unfamiliar beasts, release her now, or face death." Ji Nuan had never heard Xiu Yan’s voice sound so icy before. As she realized that his frostiness stemmed from his concern for her, warmth flooded her heart.
"Brother Xiu Yan, I am fine. They just wanted to ask a few questions. We’ve already had a chat!" Ji Nuan walked over to Xiu Yan and gently stroked his smooth fur.
The Silver Wolf transformed into a towering Orc, removed the beast skin cloak from his back, and draped it over Ji Nuan. Then, with a swift motion, he gathered her into his arms.
The icy chill on Ji Nuan made Xiu Yan’s aura grow even more frosty: "I understand. Go and warm yourself by the fire with Di Feng. I will join you soon."
After a nod towards Di Feng, he watched her walk away. Then, he lunged at Bosson who was standing at the front; the Orc still reeked of Ji Nuan’s scent. It was he who had kidnapped her.
...
Ji Nuan sipped on the piping hot porridge, her body gradually filled with warmth. She heaved a sigh of relief and realized she had been scared after the fact. Thank goodness the Orcs did not have any malicious intentions. Otherwise...
Sigh! Never mind.
"Feeling better?" A cool, magnetic voice sounded from behind, causing Ji Nuan to turn her head joyfully.
Indeed, it was Xiu Yan walking towards her.
"Much better, just a little cold. But other than that I’m fine. What about those Orcs?" Ji Nuan asked, looking behind him.
Xiu Yan touched her head, his lips curving up into a frosty smile: "They said they needed to get back to their tribes immediately, so they left."
Ji Nuan nodded. They were likely in a rush to deliver the medicine.
"Huh?" Ji Nuan’s attention was drawn to a scratch on Xiu Yan’s arm, "How did you get hurt?"
Xiu Yan looked down and nonchalantly replied, "Probably scratched by a branch on my way back. It’s nothing. Hurry back to the fire. We need to set off soon."
Ji Nuan nodded obediently and sat back down by the fire.
Elsewhere...
battered and bruised, Bosson and his fellow Orcs were hanging upside down from a tree branch, shivering in the cold. They were in agony.
Poor Norwe had his nose frozen to the point where icicles were forming. His eyes welled up with tears.
"Bosson, think of something fast! We’re freezing to death over here! Ah-choo~"
Bosson, with a swollen Humming Beast-like face, was gritting his teeth while trying to cut the vine with his claws. He glanced at Norwe, whose nose was dripping with mucus, and retorted disdainfully, "Wait, we’ll be down soon!"
