Chapter 38: Morning after Khaos

Chapter 38: Morning after Khaos The room was quiet, and the trembling had stopped because Cedric had single-handedly defeated a calamity. Under the golden light from the candles and crackling fireplace, the figure of two people could be spotted on the bed. Cedric held Abrielle as he slowly slipped into a deep slumber because he had over-exerted himself while fighting the Khaos. He wasn’t confident with his skills if he would be able to stop it earlier, but he just had to try. After the long battle, his first instinct, weirdly enough, was to see the face of his aggrieved wife. To show her that her prayers failed and he didn’t die, and as expected, she was disappointed. Achieving his goal, his body slowly grew tired, and now he was at her mercy. Abrielle watched Cedric sleep with his gold mask on and was tempted to pull it off but that might wake him up from sleep. "How are you alive? A Khoas is impossible to defeat single-handedly. You are not meant to be that strong." She muttered with her eyes on his dark locks. Cedric was so vulnerable right now sleep could just kill him but yet she didn’t. As tempting as it may seem to end his life, she was smart enough to know if he died here, she would be the first suspect and would be killed for treason. Time ticked as she was drawn deeper into her thoughts until she eventually slept by his side. It was the first time she had slept by a man’s side. Her breaths were even indicating she was deeply asleep. Cedric’s lashes slowly flattered open to stare back at her face. At times he asked himself the question about what was also keeping him from killing her. He could always kill her despite her political importance to him but yet he couldn’t. There was something in him that would let him kill her. For a strange reason, he was glad she didn’t attack him in his sleep. "What are you?" He asked, puzzled. ***** The window clattered as a cold wind blew in from the blinds. Abrielle shuddered, then clung closer to the source of warmth close to her. The wind from earlier had successfully put off the fireplace. "Why is it so cold?" She complained, hugging her source of warmth closer, which seemed like a man. Why was she hugging a man? Her eyes popped open, stunned by the realization, and she immediately meant his gold eyes. He was staring at her in her sleep. Abrielle quickly pushed him off, almost falling off the bed, but Cedric caught her before she fell, pulling her closer to his embrace. "Why are you being so fuzzy?" He asked her. "What are you doing in my bed? What am I doing here? Am I not meant to be in the safe house?" She started rambling questions as her eyes darted around the room she recognized as her bedroom in the castle. "I am your husband; I can get into your bed as I please," Cedric said leaving her dumbfounded. "That doesn’t mean you can come to my bed as you please." Abrielle snapped back at him. Her eyes glanced around him to realize he had changed to a simpler outfit, the same as she. "Who brought me here and why am I in different clothes?" She asked, feeling violated. "You like asking questions knowing the answer is obvious. Enough of the drama I need to sleep further." Cedric sighed then closed his eyes. He was holding her so close she could feel his breath fanning against her skin with his warmth coming out of his body. This man was taking advantage of her, and all she could do was cuss him over and over in her mind because, please, explain why this slimy bastard was resting his head close to her blossom. "You know you don’t have to rest your head there." She mentioned knowing that he was awake and heard her. "It’s more comfortable to sleep like this." He shamelessly admitted. She was unsure if he was the one who undressed her, and she didn’t want to imagine what he did while she was deep asleep. "You can also be more comfortable on your bed in your room." She deadpanned not liking this setting. His breath was ticklish as if fanned on her bosom through her lacy nightwear. "My bed doesn’t have what yours can offer plus it is very cold today. Can you be a bit considerate knowing I spent the whole night fighting for you?" He justified his perverted actions. A cold wind blew from the wind again causing her to have goose bumps. It seemed like it might rain this morning. Cedric was not fighting for her but himself because she would have appreciated it if he had willingly given himself to the Khaos. " I didn’t tell you to do something so reckless." Abrielle snapped at him, making Cedric move from her bosom and then open his eyes to gaze back at her blue orbs. They were so beautiful that, at times, he wondered how such clear eyes could be so evil. "What happened to repenting? Have you forgotten I am your husband because we have yet to carry out our duties?" Cedric chimed and he watched how her eyes went wide. A mischievous smile graced Abrielle’s lips, which left him stunned. "Stop talking big. You are not going to do anything, especially not after facing a Khaos on your own." She stated as a matter of fact. Cedric reached out to brush her ginger hair from her face then pinched his jaw. "Are you trying to instigate me? I am more than capable." He started with a firm tone, not liking the way she kept on questioning his capabilities. He was more than ready to worship every inch of her body, not giving a fuck if it was poisonous, and his member twitched at the thought, but whenever he was about to do it. Something was holding him back just like when he wanted to kill her. It seemed like she was controlling him and a part of him agreed. "If you are so capable. What is holding you back?" She scoffed, challenging him. .
