Chapter 136: Cursed fate The wind howled through the window; the room was pin-drop silence. Abrielle’s gaze was on Sabrina, stunned by what she said. Her heart wasn’t made of stone. Would she truly hesitate if given the chance to kill Cedric? That was ridiculous. Why would she hesitate when he was going to kill her one way or the other? "I don’t have any feelings for him," she retorted, gritting her teeth. "Then do you hate him?" Sabrina left her speechless again. Her lips parted and closed. Does she hate Cedric? She wondered. She was a narcissistic jerk that could kill her on a wimp. He switches like a fucking psycho and was an impossible puzzle to understand. She wanted to kill him to escape. He was the biggest danger here, but did she really hate him? "I guess you know the answer. You don’t hate him as much as you should, and even if you did on your own, killing him is near impossible. " Sabrina answered. The image of how Cedric stood by at the ball and all the times he was inclined to Callista flashed in her head. What was she thinking? She hates him; she should hate him. His presence always scared her. She trembled silently while facing those sharp gold eyes, yet she had to challenge them every day. "Your words are false; I hate him if you haven’t heard. I tried to flee the wedding but failed." Sabrina turned to face her with a smile. A soft chuckle left her lips with her brow arched Abrielle. "You hate him, then why do you give in then. Has he ever forced himself on you?" Sabrina asked then drew a deep breath. "I don’t want to pry into your private life. Eventually, you will know the right answer. Try to rest your brains." Sabrina turned around leaving the room. "I have no choice; one of us has to die", Abrielle said as a matter of fact. "That might be true. Fate is tricky and might be changed, but are you ready to pay the price of changing yours? Can you kill your husband you keep on reminding yourself to hate?" "It doesn’t matter; when the time comes, he won’t hesitate to end me," Abrielle answered. This was like a conversation where she was trying to remind herself of the truth in front of her. "Why do you think he won’t hesitate? It might be your fate but you can never be certain." Sabrina’s words were confusing, and Abrielle was getting puzzled more, trying to decipher what she meant. "He is bound to love another and my existence is a bane in his life. That is our fate as written." Abrielle stated as her eyes dulled. She wrote it that way; Sabrina frowned, hearing the princess’s words. It was like she knew exactly what would happen. She never told Abrielle her vision, but she was fully aware due to the way the conversation was progressing. Who was she? The question that lingered at the back of her mind. "Then don’t hesitate because it might cost your life." Those were Sabrina’s final words. The door was shut behind her. Abrielle lay on the bed, stunned by the conversation she just had. She knew that she didn’t really hate Cedric, more like a part of her could not hate him. It was the curse of the plot; Abrielle was the love-struck fool obsessed with Cedric despite the danger he posed. No matter how she faulted it, a part of her was still the original Abrielle. She didn’t love him, that was certain, yet a part of her wished that things would be different. She has a subtle attraction to his body and jealousy. Like she was a woman with a beating heart who had been saved from several sticky situations by him. She didn’t like Cedric either, but was she truly heartless to kill him? Would she truly stab Cedric if he was at her mercy? It was exhausting to think. Her eyes grew heavy and slowly closed as she succumbed to sleep. Sabrina closed the door behind her. A long breath left her lips before her eyes drawled to the tall figure not standing too far off. Cedric was leaning close to the wall, a bit far from the hallway. He had been here all night but refused to go in since Abrielle had moved in. He didn’t want her to know he was here yet he would not leave. "Is she up?" Cedric asked, his tone steady and his face calm despite being troubled inside. Cedric could sense that Sabrina had a serious conversation with Abrielle. After all, she made an effort to make the room soundproof with magic. "She was but I put her back to sleep. Although you absorbed all the pain, her body is still numb. She needs to recover and for the magic to properly circulate through her body." Sabrina answered, there was something about his presence that made her shake. She understood what Zoltana told her. She was compelled to say the Truth even though it was the last thing she wanted to say. "I guess she and Zoltana will be able to leave before the end of today." A breath of relief left his lips. Sabrina approached him, her sharp silver eyes boring into his. "How are you able to still stand after absorbing all that pain? You are indeed terrifying Cedric Von Drakkar." Sabrina muttered, truly amazed. It didn’t feel like he batted an eye. He was indeed rumoured to have taken down a hell of calamity on his own. "I have been through worse." A mischievous smirk etched on his face. Sabrina felt like laughing, this was the person Abrielle had to kill. "I guess so; if you are so worried about her, you can check yourself. She would not be waking up anytime soon but I doubt she wants you close. Why do you keep on holding on? It almost seems like you love her." Sabrina scoffed at Cedric. His eyes dulled, and he didn’t answer her. He didn’t love Abrielle. He wasn’t capable of love, he didn’t even trust her or himself.." she is important to me. Her safety is paramount and I am glad I tagged along. We both know if I wasn’t there, her power would have consumed her entirely."
