Chapter 183: Silent game The hall was lively filled with laughter and chatter. Ophelia had a smile on her lips, she twirled lightly across the dance floor with her groom. It was her night, after all, and from the way her eyes sparkled, it seemed like she was happy with the arrangements. They had the spotlight regardless... Abrielle didn’t care about the dance floor and secretly wished Cedric would just give her some breathing space. His domineering presence was hard to ignore and was unsettling. Cedric stood up, and Abrielle was about to release a breath of relief that he was about to let her breathe, but the devil never let us rest. Abrielle’s heart jumped to her throat once she felt his hold on her arm. He yanked her off her seat not giving her a chance to protest. Her eyes were locked on his broad back as he pulled to the dance floor. It seemed like he was in a bad mood but she could not care less about him. He stopped in the middle of the dance floor, his figure stood up among the sea of people dancing there. She never had a choice when it came to him, there was no way she could refuse dancing when they were in front of many eyes. Her breath was caught in her throat when she felt his arm circle her waist pulling her closer to him. He was close and invading her breathing space. His strong cinnamon and sandalwood scent with a hint of alcohol embraced her. Their fingers twirled together, and she slowly placed her hand on his shoulders, and they started to move according to the music. It felt weird having such a peaceful moment together. Their entrance on the dance floor drew attention and they slowly stole the show from the bride and groom. Ophelia and Ryker left the dance floor followed by others. This skipped Abrielle’s attention as she was fighting her inner turmoil. "I didn’t know the floor was more interesting than my face," Cedric mentioned as they continued moving to the melody. Abrielle’s shoulders stiffened but she refused to gaze back at him. No reply, she sneered at him, slowly turning her eyes to stare at the full-length window at the end of the hall. There was a beautiful full moon outside, a perfect day for a wedding. It was more interesting to watch the sky instead or look at his face which infuriated her She was mad at him, more like mad at herself. Her mind was still in a mess after their last conversation that went wrong. Cedric clicked his tongue at her actions. He pulled her forward, making her miss her step. She slammed into his chest as he knocked all the air from his lungs, closing out all the space between them. She was forced to glare at him, annoyed at his actions. Her anger blazed up seeing the smile that hung on his lips. He did it deliberately. "You can’t ignore me forever." Cedric chimed, a soft smile hung on his lips Staring at those blue eyes that wanted to consume him. He knew she was still upset about their last conversation and it made him happy for a strange reason. She being upset about the miscarriage and the fact he said he didn’t want the baby meant one thing she secretly wanted the baby. It might be delusional but that made him happy. Abrielle humphed, annoyed; she did not want to talk to him or acknowledge his presence despite being this close. She treated him like air and searched for something more interesting to do. Her eyes fell on Sapphire, who was seated not too far from the groom. Abrielle was immediately taken aback by the princess’s cold gaze that was on her. It made her skin crawl. Life was crazy, Sapphire hated her for being Cedric’s wife when she didn’t want this position in the first place. Cedric signed; he didn’t like the fact she was doing her best to ignore him. He didn’t mind when she glared at him, attempted to kill him, or acted like she did care about him and hated him. At least then it seemed like he mattered to her, but the way she was acting like he was invisible and wasn’t a part of her word did leave a pinch. "You look beautiful tonight," he suddenly complimented. Her brows furrowed, wondering where that was coming from, but still, she refused to look over. "You don’t possibly plan on never talking to me forever; I am your husband," Cedric added; the more he spoke, the more annoying it was. When did he turn to talkative? Abrielle wondered still determined not to say a word The music slowly came to an end; despite the tension that was between them, the other had no idea that they were still a sight to behold dancing under the chandelier light. From the way Cedric kept on whispering into her ears, it seemed like they were having a pretty intimate moment together. The last sound was played and they both stopped about to break apart. It was a fleeting moment but one that left her dumbfounded. His lips briefly met his before they parted, causing the crowd to gasp as such a public display of affection from what it seemed to them, having no idea it was Cedric’s attempt to get on her nerves. Abrielle stood frozen as she watched him bow slightly before walking away. She was rooted for a while before it sank to her head. He kissed her in front of everyone. Her cheeks turned scarlet, she grabbed the layers of her dress to flee the spotlight but their gaze still followed her. "Why did you do that?" She snapped at Cedric catching up to his side. Cedric snickered, "I thought you weren’t talking to me, Princess Abrielle." He stated, then it dawned on her he did it to force her to talk to him. How despicable of him! He was a very infuriating man. She scoffed, turning her head away, then matched up to their table to sit.
