Chapter 165: The system killed the baby Sapphire was a bit thrown off by Cedric’s statement. He was referring to his child as a monster. She saw how disturbed Cedric looked when he left the inn. He didn’t look like he was lying, she could not sense any emotions in his eyes. "Being smart is a strong quality of a queen which I possess. I know my worth, and I know what I see, Prince Cedric Von." She stepped closer; Sapphire was bold. She kind of reminded him of a particular kitten who tried to act brave when she was shaking inside, always scheming in her head. Sapphire was scared, but she didn’t want to show that Cedric could scare her when he didn’t even have to do anything; just his towering height of over 2 meters was enough to intimidate her petty frame. "As a Princess that knows her worth, won’t want anything to do with me. I am not a charity case you can throw yourself at because Lucian refused to give you the position of crown princess, Sapphire Ash Seymour." He replied to her being exceptionally accommodating tonight. The sky rumbled in the distance; this was going to be a long, cold night. Although the main storm was over it was still snowing. He walked off not bothering to glance at the princess who wanted to play smart. Sapphire might be a foreign princess, but the influence from the temple and the Vesper duchy with the biggest port had more relevance than hers. The sky kept on rumbling with lighting flashing in the sky, a sharp light peeking through the window of the dark, quiet room. The doors creaked, his dark towering figure walking into the room. His eyes drawled to the bed where the princess seemed to be asleep on the bed close to the window. Each time a bolt of lightning struck, a sharp light illuminated her for a split second. "I had no idea she was pregnant," a soft voice spoke from the bedside. Zoltana’s silver eyes slowly turned from Abrielle’s. She was trying to figure out why it skipped her attention that the princess was pregnant. "It doesn’t matter anymore," Cedric answered, walking to the bedside where he sat down. Zoltana stood up from the stool, her lips parted. She was hesitant to say something, but in the end, she decided against it. "I will excuse myself now," Zoltana bowed slightly then walked for the door. The door clicked after she fell, leaving just Cedric and Abrielle in the room. A short sigh escaped his lips; she looked like she was asleep, her brows furrowing at times like she was having a nightmare. He wondered if Abrielle knew she was pregnant or not. If she did, why did she keep it hidden? ****** Abrielle’s eyes suddenly popped open, her chest heaving rapidly. Her entire body was drenched in sweat as she lay face up on the bed. She was trying to get her thoughts together while figuring out how she got into this strange, dark room. The storm was still raging in the distance with occasional thunderstorms. A loud groan escaped her lips, her eyes staring at a blue screen that was only visible to her. FOREIGN ENTITY SUCCESSFULLY EXTERMINATED It flashed her brows furrowed confused about what it meant. What foreign entity was it talking about? Her throat was patched, and she needed a drink badly, but her body was aching all over, and Bloody hell, it was freezing. It felt like the fire was not helping in the slightest bit. "I need to get up," she muttered to herself; why does her body ache so badly? Abrielle felt the bed moved by her side; before she could glance to figure out what it was, his low baritone voice spoke. It was very close to her ears, indicating he was on the bed. "It is better you stay in bed and stop squirming around." Her head snapped to her side; she was previously dazed up. She failed to realize she wasn’t the only one in the room. "Cedric," she gasped, her eyes dilated. "You look like you just saw a ghost, more like you are looking at one." Cedric sneered at her. Her gaze subconsciously trailed down his face that wasn’t covered. He seemed to have gotten used to not wearing his mask around her. Her dry throat went completely parched like a desert as soon as she realized he was lying shirtless with just his trousers on. Was he trying to seduce her in her dream aside from where they were? And what he was doing here? Her thoughts were all over the place she seemed to have forgotten he was still staring at her. "And now she can’t stop staring at the ghost." Cedric snapped; Abrielle flinched, her cheeks turning red at the realization she had been brazenly staring at him. "Where are we? How did I get here? Ahhh my body aches." She groaned as a sharp headache struck her head. Cedric sat adjusting the covers because he realized she was shivering slightly under the covers. "We are in an inn and we arrived here to avoid the storm." He answered, his voice trailing off as he stood up from the bed. Abrielle’s eyes followed his back which flexed those perfect muscles. Why did he have such a killer body beyond what she envisioned? "I can’t believe I fainted," Abrielle groaned, struggling to sit up; Cedric was standing at a small wooden table where a jug of water was placed. He poured her a cup and then brought it to her. Abrielle was surprised he brought her water without asking. Regardless, she accepted the goodwill. The water was cold, she was in no place to complain when Cedric was being nice. The tasteless liquid slipped through her lips, and then he finally broke the silent atmosphere. "And I can’t believe you hid the fact you were pregnant." Abrielle thought she heard wrong, her throat clogged and the next thing she spewed the water on Cedric’s chest and started coughing. What kind of expensive joke was that? Cedric’s gaze dulled seeing her reaction. Was she shocked he found or she had no idea? She broke into a hearty laugh, "I am so sorry I thought I misheard. I didn’t mean to do that. Honestly, I am sorry, but would you mind repeating what you said about being pregnant? I had no idea Cedric von Drakkar was such a good joker." Cedric scoffed at her; at times, it was hard to believe her. "I said you were pregnant but lost the baby due to stress. You really had no idea."
