Chapter 27: His tender side Cedric approached her unconscious body to check her condition. "Should I get the physician?" A maid immediately asked running over to his side. He clicked her tongue in annoyance. She was one annoying fly. "I will take care of her myself." He dismissed the maid and reached out to carry his troublesome wife in his arms towards the accommodations. He arrived at the room and placed her on the bed. Her condition was very bad, and Cedric sensed it from the deck, but he refused the physician attending to her because to treat her, they would have to pull off her clothes. The only physical on board was a man who attended to his soldiers. Cedric didn’t like the thought of another man seeing her bare skin. The thought repulsed him; if she was treated by a physician, it would take longer to heal. His fingers expertly undid all the buttons on her dress. She pulled it off, followed by the other underwear in her chest region to expose her full chest. He gulped at the sight, his throat going dry. She was beautiful, and this was something he didn’t think he was ready to share. Her bosom was full and the perfect size that fitted perfectly in his large palms to fondle. His hand itched to touch them but he held himself back. He tried his best to focus on the large bruise in her chest region where he had kicked earlier instead of those peaks he was tempted to cover with his mouth. It was amazing she could still move around when she was this hurt considering how weak she was. He had held back his strength, barely using anything, but she still got this badly injured. The more he thought about how this weak girl wanted to kill him the more hilarious it was. "You are fierce but seriously stupid. How were you able to move when you were this injured? You must have a couple of internal injuries." Cedric clicked his tongue, running his hand over the injured part of her skin. Honestly, he didn’t feel bad for hurting her. Maybe this would send a message to her thick skull to stop this ridiculous game. Her skin was soft to the touch and very tempting. He hated the thought of the physician treating her more and more, but unfortunately, there were not many female physicians in Darconia. After accessing the injury, Cedric’s eyes turned darker until it was pitch black and black smoke started to leave his palm, going towards the injured part. The bruised patch on her skin started to heal and slowly disappeared. After he was done, Cedric coughed into his palm. A long sigh left his lips when he saw the blood stains on his palm. This was why he never revealed the fact he could heal. He couldn’t do magic per se his magical abilities were not outstanding, like healing magic; instead, what he did was share his fast regenerative and healing abilities, which always left a backlash on him. This was the second time he was using this ability he found out about by coincidence. **** The clattering of the horse’s hooves and the creaking sounds of the wooden wheels woke Abrielle up. Her brows furrowed wondering where they were. From the sound coming from the horses and carriage, it was obvious they were back on land, but when did they leave the ship? The last thing she remembered was running after Cedric then everything seemed to have gone black. She was resting her head on something, obviously not a pillow and she could feel someone weaving their fingers through her hair. Her eyes were squished then she slowly freed them before opening her eyes. Her long lashes fluttered open exposing her sapphire blue eyes. Even a villainess was still stunning; at least, that was what she had aside from her scheming mind. The first thing that came to her sight was the strong chisel jawline of Cedric. The devil was still gorgeous to look at from this view, combined with the soft moonlight from the window. Her jaws almost dropped when she realized she was cradled on the couch-like seats with her head on Cedric’s lap while his long fingers were weaving from her ginger hair. His touch was weirdly soft, and tender for someone described as an evil villain. "You can’t just stare but also talk. I know I am handsome, you don’t have to make it obvious." She heard Cedric say. Although he was not looking at her with his gaze outside the window. Abrielle’s face twisted; not only was he wicked to the core, but he was also a narcissist. It was not a shocker the female lead chose the male lead. "You are meant to be single for the rest of your life." Abrielle sneered. Cedric chuckled at her words, his laughter was magnetic to the ear and pleasing. There was no way she would tell him he had a lovely laugh and boost his narcissistic ego. "But unfortunately I am married to you. I thought you said you were going to call a truce after realizing we are stuck together." Cedric asked her. His hands were still weaving through her long hair and playing with the strands. At this point, Abrielle has come down to the conclusion he had a split personality because why was he completely different? He was acting gentle and a bit proud. "Trust me, our marriage is very unfortunate. Where are we going?" Cedric’s hand that was in her hair froze. A fleeting look went through his eyes which Abrielle didn’t catch sight of. Their marriage was unfortunate; he still didn’t understand why the girl who swore not to get married to anyone else aside from him wanted to kill him. "To the winter castle, that’s where we are meant to spend our honeymoon." He replied to her; Abrielle had more to say, but her eyes grew heavy again, and she fell asleep. Cedric smiled after he saw her asleep. He was the one who made her sleep because she didn’t have to witness what was about to happen next. An arrow flew straight through the window targeted towards him but instead hit the floorboard. His eyes darkened. "Dear wife, you are not the only one that wants me dead." He sighed. He knew the assassins would come again sooner or later, but they had the nerve to attack him when he was with his wife. .
