Chapter 163: Storm in the mountains Abrielle’s bad luck struck again, the horses lost control and ran straight into the storm. The sky turned dark with heavy clouds hanging above, it was so dark that it was hard to believe this was noon. They were still a bit far from the mountains, and the capital was hours away. By now, there was no turning back, but this was still safer than the rest who got caught up in the storm while ascending the narrow roads of the mountains. The ride was chaotic, the horses running rampage into the storm that blew in the forest, making visibility hard. They could not turn back and could only advance. The couch man’s grip tightened on the reins as he tried to control the horses. Zoltana, who was seated in front, silver eyes narrowed. Instinctively she knew there was something wrong about the storm. "Is there any inn or town nearby?" Zoltana shouted to enable the couch man to hear her in the storm. "I think there is one close by but it is off track on our route." The couch man explained that this would delay their journey a bit, but it was important to ensure the royal family’s safety. The carriage took a sharp turn, changing its route. If not for the fact the carriage was made from very durable materials and had secretly been enforced by Cedric’s subtle magic, by now, it would have collapsed. The more they diverted from their route, the weaker the storm was; going off course was a good idea, but the ride was still bumpy. Abrielle felt like throwing up. The truth was that the magnitude of the storm in the forest was nothing compared to the mountains, so her life was not in danger in any way, but it felt like she was not going to survive this ride. Everything around her was spinning with the carriage shaking; her face grew pale, and she was overwhelmed by the discomfort. It skipped her attention, the faint sparks that lit on her skin as Cedric held her protectively in his arms. His first guess was that this storm was not natural but not weird either. Mount Lunarias was considered a holy land, and the weather was influenced by the supernatural and physical, yet this storm gave him a bad feeling. Abrielle’s face went pale each second that passed, her face puffed up. She had gagged a couple of times with the intention of throwing up. Abrielle had motion sickness that spikes up in carriages, so he was aware this ride was a literal hell for her. They eventually left the storm but were already off course from their route. The carriage was getting more stable. Abrielle’s head was hazy. She was still trying to get herself together. She was lying across the seat in a curled-up situation, her head on Cedric’s thighs while she hugged her stomach that was aching her. The pain was not subsiding despite Cedric’s attempts to treat it. A frown etched between his brows. She kept on reminding herself this was a better outcome than being caught up in the main storm. The main storm was still raging around the mountains, so they had no choice but to head for the inn. Cedric didn’t care about the route, but his concern was on Abrielle, whose face was getting paler each second. The carriage continued on their route until it slowed down which puzzled Cedric. Standing ahead of the small entourage was a figure who Elias recognized. He rode ahead to confirm it was indeed the princess of Galvia who seemed to have gotten lost during the storm. Before allowing her to join the group he needed Cedric’s permission despite her being a princess. There was a light knock on the door of Cedric’s carriage, next came Elias’s voice. "Why are we slowing down?" Cedric snapped at Elias before he even said a word. Abrielle released a painful groan, which struck a chord with Cedric. Her stomach was killing her. It felt like a demonic period cramp. That was what she would describe it as, but her stomach was also squirming, giving her the strong urge to throw up. Her stomach was empty, and the only thing that could leave her mouth was saliva. "There is something that needs your attention, your highness," Elias informed, just that statement alone pissed Cedric off. "It better be worth it." Cedric sighed, feeling a worse headache coming. Elias’s gaze met Sapphire, who had an expectant gaze. "We ran into the princess of Galvia. She claimed her carriage was destroyed in the storm and she was thrown off by the storm and is stranded. " Elias explained the general situation. Cedric clicked his tongue; why did he always run into annoying people? "Just keep her away from my sight. Where are we heading to?" Elias sighed because he didn’t have the heart to leave Sapphire here. She was looking completely miserable. He nodded at the knights waiting for instructions before answering Cedric. "The storm around the mountains and the forest close by doesn’t look like reducing any time soon. It is best if we take a break in the nearby town, and luckily, there is an inn we could use." Elias explained to Cedric. "Please be faster, and also get a physician, it is an emergency." It was rare for Cedric to use the word, please. Elias understood it was something very bad. He quickly did as Instructed, sending a horseman ahead to get a physician while they increased their pace. Sapphire was made to join one of the horsemen since they were in a hurry. A few minutes later they arrived at an inn. Their arrival was already announced ahead of time, so the innkeepers made arrangements as quickly as they could. Cedric stepped out of the carriage with Abrielle curled up in his arms. She was getting more delirious, and her condition had worsened. She didn’t know anything was going on around her. The only thing she saw was a strange system notification. FOREIGN ENTITY WITH THREAT TO PLOT SUCCESSFULLY EXTERMINATED HOST BODY SHUTTING DOWN TO COMPLETE EXTERMINATION. She heard panicking voices, but everything was blurry. Her eyes grew heavy and slowly closed.
