Chapter 26: Fiesty but foolish Cedric was a bit stunned when Abrielle accepted the challenge. With her petty frame, he doubts she has ever held a sword before in her life. "Someone should get the princess a sword." He chimed. Abrielle’s eyes were on him; she didn’t need him to take off the mask for her to know that he was looking down on her. It was all in his eyes. She might be a scheming, vicious lady with no talent in magic, but one thing she knew how to do was never give up, and that was what led to her death. Abrielle never gave up on her obsession with Cedric and subsequently got married. She never gave up on making the female lead life a living nightmare, and that also subsequently led to her death. Someone presented a sword to Abrielle, which she readily accepted. Fighting with a sword couldn’t be so hard, but for a weird reason, she felt like she had dug her own grave because of the looks she was having from the onlookers. Pity was filled in their eyes but that wasn’t enough to make her give up. ’ You can do this, just think about the delicious food and the warm baths. He is the final boss you have to defeat.’ Abrielle encouraged her as she wrapped her hands around the hilt of the sword. Cedric had a wide smirk on his first and he was kind enough to announce his attacks. "Ready or not, here I come." His voice rang, and just like a ghost, he dashed towards her. His footwork was so fast she could keep up with it. Her eyes were watching his movements, and he was attacking from the front; her plan was simple: she had some powders with her, which she would spray on him to distract him while she attacked. He was almost in front of her and he didn’t look like he was holding back. Abrielle’s hold on the sword tightened. She was about to lift the sword from the floor to block his attack, but why was the sword so heavy that it was difficult to swing it around? She was barely able to carry the sword up, and then Cedric suddenly disappeared, more like he had changed his course, but her eyes couldn’t keep up with his movements. He was now attacking from her back. She swung the sword towards him. To her shock, Cedric stopped the blade with his bare hands and kicked her away. The force sent her flying and hitting her back on one of the hull structures. He didn’t even hold back a bit; Cedric tossed her sword on the ground and then stride towards her. Abrielle coughed out some blood, she was injured from the hit and her body was screaming in pain. She had to get up because Cedric didn’t seem to be done with her. Before she could say I, after her fall his blade was already pointed at her neck. "You lost, now go back to your room." He instructed her. That was not a fair fight plus their obvious disparity in strength. Who fights against their wife with such hatred? "I haven’t lost yet." She said through her gritted teeth that were stained with blood. Cedric arched his brow at her trying to understand what was going through her scheming mind. This was a lost battle; he didn’t even use up to 5 percent of his strength, and she was this injured. If he had attacked her with the intent of killing her, she would be dead before making a single move, and this weak, fragile mouse wanted to kill him. He squatted before her with his gold eyes staring keenly at her. "In what way haven’t you lost? Your weapon is far away from your reach and my blade was pointed at your neck." He asked her curiously, wondering what excuses she would come up with since that was her greatest talent. "The fight was unfair." She barked at Cedric and then struggled to get up. She pointed her little finger at him, Which he could easily snap. It was disrespectful to point fingers at the royal family, but once again, Cedric was usually tolerant of his wife. "Unfair in what way exactly?" He snickered; Abrielle braced herself because she just couldn’t bear eating dry bread and soup anymore. "The sword was too heavy for me to swing around and you didn’t hold back a bit." She said, which made Cedric laugh at her. He sheathed his sword and then moved away, not bothering to listen to her whinings. She was adorably brave and foolish at the same time. Abrielle ignored the pain in her chest and ran after Cedric. She held his shirt from behind, preventing him from leaving. "Are you not going to say anything, Your Highness?" He stopped in his tracks and then sighed. "The sword was not heavy, but your muscles are not trained to swing one. My sword is way heavier because it is made from denser material to give heavier blows. That aside, I barely used 5 percent of my strength. If I was serious about the fight you would be dead by now." He explained to her, which Abrielle was fully aware of, but her stubbornness would not leave her. "Let’s have a rematch." She foolishly declared. Cedric glanced at her and was truly intrigued by her stupidity. "Get yourself treated. You are severely injured; thus, the spar is over." He said in a firm voice. Abrielle balled her fingers into a fist. "It isn’t over, I can still fight." She insisted. "Fine, attack me with your fist." He sneered at her but Abrielle was too stubborn to give up. She took a deep breath and then charged at Cedric with full force. He didn’t even bother to block her attack and simply evaded her. She was running so fast it was too late to stop when he evaded her. Abrielle tripped, losing her footing, then fell off the deck because Cedric was close to the edge. Luckily, before falling into the water, Cedric was kind enough to catch her by her garment. Her heartbeat got to her throat, and she was hanging in the air. The only thing holding her was her worst enemy, who could just let go of her. Her eyes stared at the deep water. If she were to fall inside, death was imminent because, once again, Abrielle was a disadvantaged villainess who didn’t know how to swim due to her weak constitution as a child. She was pulled back on deck, she didn’t dare hold his gaze because she knew he was looking at her condescendingly. "Go back to your room. It isn’t a suggestion but a command Abrielle. I have better things to do than to entertain your childishness." Cedric stated then walked away. Abrielle’s legs were still wobbly from the near-death experience from earlier. She was too stubborn to give up. She managed to get on her feet. "I am not giving up." She declared with the goal of dashing towards Cedric. Cedric rolled his gold eyes, she was impossible to reason with. He was about to give her a firm warning, and he glanced over his shoulders. His eyes went wide when he found her tripping by herself and falling on the wooden deck. There was a loud thudding sound; she had fallen unconscious due to her injuries.
