Chapter 110: Finally went right Eleanor was puzzled by Abrielle’s confidence, she narrowed her eyes suspiciously. "Then how do you plan on proving your claims? My favourite tea cup has already been contaminated by a maid. Honestly, if you admit your mistakes and pay for the damages, I will forget this ever happened." It was a threat. Abrielle was even a bit wary that maybe the plot didn’t follow through this time, but she was already too far gone to turn back now. She bowed submissively at the Queen making it seem like she was about to apologize. "I am sorry if my claims have ruined the atmosphere, but I stand behind my previous claims." Abrielle declared before turning her attention to Callista. "Callista, are you certain that she isn’t poisoned, and if someone else is brought to examine her, it will be the same result." Callista shook and then clutched her dress. "Are you accusing me of siding with the maid? You are accusing me of treason Princess Abrielle." Callista said nervously as she shook. Abrielle arched her brows at the priestess, what was wrong with her? Without batting an eye Abrielle admitted. "Yes, I am accusing you of treason. So I will ask once more are you sure you are not mistaken." Callista nervously bit her lips, looking like a true victim. It made Abrielle sick to the stomach. "I am sure, the maid isn’t poisoned." Abrielle nodded, then glanced at the Queen, "I guess that is it." She sighed, then took the same cup the maid just drank from and poured in the fine tea that was light green in colour. It had a refreshing scent. Everyone was focused on Abrielle to see how she was going to be able to manage the situation. The slurping sounds of the tea being poured stopped and Abrielle turned towards Callista and offered her the drink. "You must be exhausted after using it for energy. How about you take a drink." Abrielle offered, and she observed a fleeting emotion go through Callista’s eyes. She bowed submissively at Abrielle and then said. "I can’t use a cup that has been used by a maid, Your Highness." Abrielle’s brows twitched but she still maintained her serene expression. "That is rich coming from someone who was once a slave. There is nothing wrong with sharing the cup, and there is nothing wrong with the tea. I see no reason why you will refuse such finely made tea that will Improve your magic. Unless it is otherwise." Abrielle’s words placed Callista in a difficult situation. "I am sorry, but for purification reasons, I can’t share the cup." Callista insisted. "That’s not an excuse. If the tea is fine, you should have no problem. So I urge you to examine the maid again." Abrielle insisted. She was getting a bit confident now. Callista drew in a long breath, then bowed at the queen, "Your majesty, I beg you to forgive me. The princess might be right, but presently, I am still exhausted from my mission last night and might not detect just a high poison. I urge the royal physician to be brought over." Callista’s words were well said avoiding any further implications. If the poison was eventually detected. "I understand; Lucian informed me of your struggles last night," Eleanor replied, signalling one of the guards. "Get the royal physician here immediately." The guard left immediately to fetch the royal physician. The entire time they waited, Abrielle took her time to observe the maid’s reaction. She was sweating profusely while everyone else was calm, including Callista, who had her seat now. Abrielle patiently waited; why did the system give her such a troublesome task? Her original plan to not get implicated in this scheme was to accidentally break the cup, claiming to have slippery hands, but the system required her to stop the poisoning by getting the Queen’s trust. The physician finally arrived at the scene. "Your majesty, you requested my presence." He said he was one of the highest physicians who attended personally to the queen and had served the royal family for decades. The wrinkles at the side of his eyes and grey hair spoke of his years of experience. "Yes, can you examine the condition of that maid?" The queen pointed out, and the physician bowed, accepting his order. "I will right away." The man then walked to the maid’s side, examining her pulse and other factors before he turned towards the queen with a slight frown. "Unfortunately, her body functions have been slightly disarrayed by a lethal slow-acting poison. It will take a couple of days to find an antidote while her health will be preserved using holy magic to detoxify her continuously until the antidote is ready." The physician explained and the maid’s face went pale. Eleanor quickly rose to her feet, completely taken aback. "Are you certain that is the case?" She asked again. The physician frowned thinking the queen was doubting him. "I swear on my years of experience." The physician swore confidently and a smile graced Abrielle’s lips. "Guards, take her away to the cold cells. She is arrested for treason, and makes sure she confesses about who sent her." The queen instructed seething in anger. Callista’s hand under the table was subconsciously clenched, but she had a serene expression. "The princess’s great observation skills saved the queen. I am sorry I couldn’t be of help and was only a hindrance." She apologized but Eleanor only gave her a fleeting look before her gaze went to the tea. "Get that thing away from here immediately. " She commanded. Astrid quickly held her mother’s hand to comfort her. "I think we should call it a day," Astrid suggested, and the queen got up, leaving the greenhouse while being supported by her daughter. Abrielle gave Callista a smirk then gracefully got up from her seat to leave with Elias following behind. Things took an unexpected turn but turned out well. Finally, something went well, Abrielle thought. A big grin was on her face as she continued walking until suddenly, a sharp headache struck her, and everything went black.
