Chapter 29: Rumoured Affair The chirping sounds of birds, followed by the irritating feeling of the sun’s rays on Abrielle’s eyes, woke her up from her dreamland. She was a bit exhausted after waking; she didn’t think she had slept that deep for a long time. Unknown to her, it was the effect of the magic Cedric put over her. Abrielle was unaware of the fact the villain of her story could do magic because she wrote him as a vigilant warrior. There are so many unknowns about this world that she is completely unaware of. A sound akin to a purr left her lips as her butterfly-like lashes fluttered open. It took her a while to realize she was in a completely strange room as her brain seemed to be slow this morning. The last thing she remembered was the fact she was resting on Cedric’s thighs, and that devil was being abnormally nice. "I guess it’s another day to have stale bread and soup," Abrielle muttered to herself as she slowly got off the bed with her bare feet touching the polished marble floor as she slowly made her way to the door. Abrielle concluded this was the winter castle where she was meant to spend her honeymoon. She just dreaded the fact; her head was already thinking of ways to avoid a serious issue still on her head, and that was the consummation of their marriage. Both she and Cedric are of legal age. It was expected they would do the deed sooner or later, but the thought of making love with that devil just makes her shudder. He was a maniac and psychopath; what if, in the middle of the deed, he snaps then choked? The thought of that gave her goosebumps. The door creaked open and she peeked out through the opening. On the other side, a group of maids Cedric had reassigned to Abrielle were waiting for her because he felt she was punished enough, although the devil knew his wife was not going to give up on killing him. "Good morning, Your Highness," they all simultaneously said together. Abrielle’s brows furrowed because she was unaware of the fact her punishment was over plus all the maids were different faces. At that point, her memory was jogged. She was still yet to do anything Sarah the poor maid. Abrielle’s lips parted to inquire about her wash water and bread with soup, resigning to her fate, but the maids beat her to it when several servant boys started filling the room to fill the tub in the bathing chamber. "You must be tired, your highness. We are here to attend to you." One of the maids informed her. Her eyes sparkled secretly celebrating the fact that her punishment was over. First of all, she shed all her clothes to get into the bathtub. Immediately, her feet touched the warm water, a cute purr left her lips, and then she slowly sank into the water. The maids helped her wash her hair and groom. Even though she insisted she could do the rest, they firmly refused that a princess was not meant to handle such a task. Being married royalty was not bad; now she understood why the real Abrielle was seriously obsessed with Cedric The only problem was that he was a maniac who would fall heads over for the female lead while he had a wife, although from the original story, Cedric and Abrielle were always at odds. She was the wife looking for his favour, while he was the husband who never touched her because her only value was her political influence. But Abrielle felt something was off; if the Cedric she wrote was never interested in Abrielle, why was her husband acting like a horny bastard that always left her hanging. She hated that jerk. The bath water was getting cold and it was time to part with it. One of the maids was combing Abrielle’s long ginger hair while they tried to pick out a dress. Her gentle fingers went through her hair weaving through the strands. "Do you prefer the blue one or the yellow one?" A maid asked her; she was smiling sweetly at Abrielle while showing her the dresses. "What is Cedric’s favourite colour?" Abrielle inquired, and the maid’s eyes sparkled, wondering if Abrielle wanted to impress Cedric. "His Highness loves black but usually wears blue, so I guess his favourite colour is blue then." The maid cheerfully informed Abrielle, and she rolled her eyes; he was exactly how she envisioned him. She guessed she would have to avoid wearing blue from now on. "What about his least liked colour?" She inquired with a mischievous smile. The maids glanced at each other, feeling hesitant to share whatever information they had. "There is this one rumour between the first prince and the fourth princess." The maid handling her hair mentioned, and Gabrielle’s eyes sparkled. The fourth princess was the daughter of Queen Cedric’s stepsister. "What’s the rumours about?" She inquired. The maid bit her lips, it seemed like it was something that was not meant to be heard by the public ear. The one holding the dresses had a displeased gaze. "We should not be gossiping about the royal family. I am sorry, Your Highness." The maid immediately apologized and now Abrielle’s curiosity was truly intrigued. "It’s fine as long as words don’t go out. Please tell me more about this. I want to know more about my husband." Abrielle said with the sweetest smile ever. Her head was already coming up with possible stories but it was better to hear the truth than imagine. "Alright, Your Highness," the maid who was doing her hair was combing it and started to style it into weaves. "His Highness least like colour is associated with a rumoured relationship between him and his sister, Princess Astrid." The maid started to say in a low tone, and Abrielle’s eyes went wide. Was Cedric having an affair with his step-sister? No way. "Rumours goes, Princess Astrid was married off early because she was having an affair with her brother.,..." The maid started to give Abrielle the tea. .
