Chapter 61 - Don't put your hair on the meal I was left alone after breakfast and finally had some peace. I had the rest of the day to myself. While we were still having breakfast, I saw Min-Cheol heading for work. I watched him as he exchanged a few talks with Go-Ahn, his secretary while the maids helped him adjust the collar of his white coat. While Ki-hoon wore black, he wore red, and honestly, I couldn't think of a better color that would suit his fair skin and pink-colored hair. He wore a blue tie. It was a blue that matched his eye color. He was dressed so richly and it got me wondering if there was an event they were going to for them to be dressed so nicely, or if that was how they dressed each time they went to work. Don't get me wrong. I've noticed how they only wore the best of the best and how their style never came off with their personalities, but I still couldn't help but wonder. They carry the name of their family and everything they do is being watched by the public. So, they must 'need' to look their best at all times. Their prestige and reputation were on the line. It must suck. Having to carry the weight of the family on their shoulder and even bear the weight of producing a suitable heir to take over in the future. So, they can't even complain when they have to share an Omega with three other people so long they get the heir they need. At least, that's how it should've been. Min-Cheol noticed me staring and raised his gaze to meet mine. I waved and he smiled. It must really suck. But they couldn't even say it out loud because it's their 'duty' and 'responsibility'. "Ah, he's coming over," I muttered and smiled. "Have fun at work," I said, and Min-Cheol nodded. "Will you stroke my hair before I leave?" He asked but I was hesitant. "Won't that ruin your hairstyle?" I asked but he didn't mind and walked over to me, crouching. "It doesn't matter. I want Hyung to pet me a little. I'll feel more energized at work." Of course. When he steps out of here, he won't have this smile anymore. The kind of smile he would put up would be a facade to hide how much he hates the people he is interacting with. A smile for formality and a smile as sharp as a blade, warning those who approached to be careful with what they say or do in front of him. If not, they may get cut. "Don't put your hair on the meal," Ki-hoon butted in and Min-Cheol stuck his tongue out. "You're just jealous, you grumpy old man." Min-Cheol said, and it ticked Ki-hoon, but he did not say anything and simply kept eating. It was later I realized what he was thinking at that moment. "It's alright, I'm already done eating anyway." I said and turned to Min-Cheol. I stroked Min-Cheol's hair softly. His hair was so soft that I couldn't even feel any sort of gel or hair products. It wasn't that there weren't any, his hair was simply that absorbent. Or maybe it was the kind of product they used. In any case, I gave him what he wanted so he would finally be on his way. After he left, Ki-hoon got up from his chair, shifted his chair back,, and walked up to me. "Jo-Pil," he called and put one knee on the floor as if he were planning to propose. "I'm not that old," he said and I almost laughed at how cute he was being. Of course, I knew he wasn't old. He was just one year older than me but why was he acting like this all of a sudden? It was as if he was sulking at being called a grumpy old man and at the same time, asking for me to comfort him. "I know, I know," I said, brushing his back. "You won't mind me ruining your hairstyle either, will you?" I asked and he shook his head. I knew this was what he wanted because, then, he grabbed my hand and snuggled his face into my palm. If this man were a black cat, he would definitely be a clingy black cat. But he'd be cute, regardless. A clingy insecure black cat who wouldn't want anyone getting close to its owner. "Do you like me that much?" The words suddenly slipped from my lips and I closed my mouth, looking away. That question was supposed to be in my thoughts. So, how did I let it slip like that? "I mean, do you like my hand that much?" I quickly rephrased my sentence. "You're snuggling so well, so I got curious." My eyes were swirling, thinking I might've been caught, but I wished he hadn't heard me clearly at first and just taken my words as they were now. Then, I heard him chuckle. What? Was I being funny? No, I was serious. What was going on in his mind? "Jo-Pil," he called. "Your hands are soft, and though they're quite right, I understand it's because things haven't been easy for you all these years." Yeah, obviously. My hands had dried-up callouses, so it was rough, but even then, they were soft. But what was his point? "I like your hands, Jo-Pil." He confessed. "No matter how rough they are, they belong to you. So, I like them a lot." He kissed them and that made my heart flutter. Curses. This man was doing it again. If he liked my hands because they were mine, then did that mean he liked me? It was a straight connection and yet I couldn't ask. Why? I was scared. There's nothing more scary than a man in love. So, as long as he was still yet to come to terms with his feelings for me, then we could still be buddies as we were. But I had a feeling we had moved on from the point of being 'just' buddies. "I'd like to win most of your smiles today and spend the night with you, wearing matching pajamas," Ki-hoon said as he got up to his feet, his eyes on my pajamas and I gulped. So, he was bothered by the fact that I was wearing a couple pajamas with Min-Cheol. Way to go. He was able to hide how he was feeling from me. I'm impressed. Should I say it's a good thing he's improved in hiding his jealousy, or it's lethal to my well-being? "But I fear I won't be able to accomplish that. Not today, because I won't be able to return tonight."
