Chapter 25 - Seriously man, who are you? I stared into Ki-hoon's eyes. I was... Having a fever? No, more than that, the gaze of pity in his eyes had melted, leaving a soft gaze as he stared into my eyes. Wait, what was going on? Wasn't he going to 'check' me? Not that I was anticipating it or anything. He was just staring at me with a warm gaze I had never seen on his face before. It was strange and quite disturbing. Just when I thought he was doubting me and wanted to actually do something such as check my body to make sure I wasn't tainted, he simply pressed his head on mine to check my temperature and told me I was having a fever. It was as if he cared. Now, I don't want to start having false ideas and get my hopes up but when he's staring at me like that, I honestly don't know what to think. "A.. a fever?" I asked in a stutter and he sighed. "It's what you get for spending the entire night at the library," he said and I gasped. "Wait, were you the one who carried me to my room?" I boldly asked, grabbing his collar and he looked down at my grip. "Ah, I..." I quickly released my grip. "I'm sorry, master." "The heat of your fever seems to be getting to your head," he said, dismissing my question, and was about to get down from the bed when I grabbed his arm. "What is it?" That cold yet considerate tone seeped into my pores and made me delusional for a second. Ah, what the fuck am I doing? Why did I grab him? I knew it was a danger zone to even force my way near this man but for some reason, I didn't want to let go of him either. Maybe it was my fever acting up and making me do weird shit. "Master," I called softly. "Will you... Stay by my side for a little while?" As soon as I said that, my insides started screaming in rage. Just what the hell was wrong with me? It was as if I had been possessed or something. Why would I want this psycho to stay by my side any longer? "I'm sorry if it's too much to ask. You can just... Forget it." "Your fever seems serious," he said, and I thought he was going to leave, but when he got down, he simply took off his coat, hung it on the chair, and then got back on the bed. Wait, what? "I'll call Cha Hyun-woo to come take a look at you." He said but still adjusted next to me. "You never liked staying alone when you were sick, but are you sure you don't want to eat anything?" He asked as he lifted the blanket to cover me properly. Okay, so what was this situation? If I didn't know any better, I'd think he was trying to put me at ease. Treating me as he would do with Jo-Pil when they were still together. What has gotten into him all of a sudden? Was he also having a fever? "If you don't feel like eating yet, do you want to at least have some congee?" He asked but I was dumbstruck. Seriously, man. Who are you? "Or do you just want to sleep?" I clenched the covers. Now, it seemed like I was in a dream inside my dream. The Ki-hoon I knew wasn't this warm and considerate fellow. "I... I'll eat later." I softly said and planned to hide my face in the blanket but then he pressed his hand on my forehead. It was cool and relaxing. Just what was this magic? "Then, go to sleep. I'll be here till you wake up." My insides were still screaming. What was this development all of a sudden? Wait, had I really touched him with my story? Then what was that doubtful look for? 'Fuck, I have a feeling this is what you call the calm before the storm. Now, I'm terrified.' But I couldn't even think much of it because my head was hurting; I felt hot, and Ki-hoon's touch was so comforting. He was using his left hand, of course, since his right hand had a black glove on. I could feel his gaze on me but it wasn't piercing or filled with curiosity. It was soft and light. I bet ten bucks he was reminiscing the past with his cute lover, Jo-Pil. Now that he has no reason to hate me, he can only stare with warmth in his eyes. But I'm sure there will still be days when that warmth turns cold, and the words of his tongue slash me like a knife. 'I'll count it as a 20 percent success for now. I'll raise it to 30 if I wake up and find him next to me.' Surely, a busy man like him would need to head off to work as soon as he got called. *Brrr!* *Brrr!* Ah, there it was. Work call. He picked up his phone from his pocket and answered it. "Hello," I couldn't hear what the other person was saying but from his response, I was sure it was a work call. "The meeting with the executives was today?" Okay, he'll probably start running off to work. Why put off his important meeting to stay with me? "Reschedule it." Huh? W-w-wait, that's not supposed to happen. "I'm taking the rest of the day off." Um, excuse me, sir, but I don't think you've gone to work yet to use that term, 'the rest of the day off'. And why the hell are you taking the day off and spending it with me? Ugh, just thinking about it was draining my mental health. Let's just sleep. Let's just... I ended up falling asleep faster than I imagined. That was how I managed to catch a fever on my third day in my master's mansion. By the time I woke up, the room had a lingering smell of disinfectant, so I guessed Cha Hyun-woo had visited already, and I was getting treated. That goes without saying because there was a drip attached to my hand, and I was feeling much better. Only, I was sweating profusely. It only meant that the treatment was working so, yay. But that's not what's important right now. What's important is that right next to me was Ki-hoon, who I was sure as hell would leave my side before I woke up. But he was there, right next to me, sitting with his back against the headboard, looking all handsome and majestic with his gaze concentrated on the book I had been reading. He held it smoothly in his gloved hand while his other hand... Kya, I couldn't believe it... His other hand was holding my hand. What happened while I was asleep?
