Chapter 190: See, I’m totally fine Cha Hyun-woo... Liked me. Or maybe he was still in the process of liking me and was simply smitten for now. But seriously, when did it start? I didn’t even do anything. Was it when he gave me the supplements but was so bad with words that he wanted to force it on me? Or was it when he blamed me for not eating while trying to unprofessionally put a needle in my vein while I was asleep? I didn’t even want to ask. We all know, or probably know, why he tried so hard not to get attached to me. I had four powerful and jealous Alphas behind me, so any male who was trying to approach me would have to be very cautious if they didn’t want to be tagged as a treat. Especially one that was good-looking. Let’s just pretend not to know for now. I don’t like Cha Hyun-woo one bit. I mean, he is handsome, but he’s not my type, and he’s succeeded in pushing me away. Let’s just stay at arm’s length. My masters were yet to know that I was a sucker for handsome faces so let’s keep it at this from now on. It would be better for all of us. "Thank you for being considerate." I said to him, smiling. "I understand you now so I won’t hate you. You’re my doctor, after all." But it didn’t mean I would like him either. I’d still prefer it if he officially apologizes, though. He was just too much. "Jo-Pil, are you done?" Jin-Yeok asked as he walked into the room and I raised my head, nodding with a little smile. "Yeah, the doctor’s done." I said getting up and showing my hands. They were back to how they were before I wounded them. "See, I’m totally fine." I said and he grabbed my hands, squeezing them gently. I noticed he had stopped using his gloves a lot lately. It was good. Great, in fact. I smiled. All that was left was Ki-hoon, but I wouldn’t rush him. His own trauma ran deeper than the eyes could see. "Then, do you want to go for a walk with me?" Jin-Yeok asked, kissing my hands and I nodded. But before we left, I glanced back at Cha Hyun-woo who was picking up his stuff and getting ready to leave. This was fine. If I didn’t give him hope of a reciprocated feeling, then he might just get over his liking for me, or that feeling would come to be a weapon I could use later. I’m not cruel, just cautiously prepared. "Alright." Jin-Yeok had so much to tell me. He wanted to do it when I had gotten better. The others were at work, including Seo-Jun. He finally decided to put his back into his company, that lazy bum. So, I was at home alone with Jin-Yeok, who had taken a day off, and I enjoyed it. He told me how he visited two sites with ruthless gangsters who were doing a lot of bad things and taught them a lesson. He didn’t kill them because he was trying to uphold his promise to me. Ten a week, was it? But he did kill their leader to drop their morale. "You know, if you had gone around killing every one of them, you would’ve been no different from them." I said to him, my arms hooked in his and my body leaning on his arm. "How so?" "They got blood on their hands for no just reason, and though you had a justified reason to kill them, if you had spilled their blood, it would’ve been the same reason. Just as they had a reason for killing innocent people, though the reasons were lackluster and filled with selfishness, it was still a reason." I glanced at him, meeting his curious gaze. "You did good." I praised him and his face lit up in happiness. He was glad that I praised him. I recently told him to try using his deadly abilities for good instead of simply trying to satiate his thirst for blood, and if he did that, he could possibly find inner peace, and I think it’s working. He doesn’t search for those who need to die but those who need to be wiped out from the world of crime. Not the same thing. He could wipe them out by putting them out of business and turning them in instead of spitting their throats or gutting them. "You know how to say the most pretty things, Jo-Pil." He said. "The words you say always fill my heart." I smiled. "That’s good, right? I wish to fill your heart with all the good and beautiful things so you don’t live in a world that’s cloudy and filled with red. It’s scary." I said to him and gently unhooked my arm from his. I stood in front of him and then went on my tiptoes, trying to wrap my arms around his neck and I succeeded, with him holding on to my waist. I hugged him, which surprised him. He did not know what I was hugging him, and I did not know why either, but I felt this man deserved a hug for his hard work. "You’re working so hard that you deserve a reward." I said to him and hearing this, his face melted in warmth. He let go of my waist and hugged me properly, both arms around me. "It means a lot hearing that from you." He said in a whisper with that charming voice of his that I almost felt my spine tingle. Okay, that’s as far as this contact goes. I couldn’t trust myself any longer with this. I wanted to release the hug but he held me tight. "Please, not yet." He said and I blinked, surprised. "Let me melt in your warmth a little longer. I... I want to live in a world where your warmth fills me up even more than this." Hm, excuse me, but my back was starting to hurt, and I was barely standing on my feet. So much for wanting to comfort him. This was already past the comforting level.
