Chapter 47 - Yes, Daddy We finally had breakfast and I felt I had made a little more progress with the Alphas I don't know why but I could feel something strange. It was as if there was this force that made my words so compelling to them that they did not mind falling for it even if it was a a lie. They were ready to believe me no matter what. Now, I don't know if it has something to do with the protagonist or why I had to be living as the protagonist in this dream but I sure as hell am grateful that I have such a thing. It's so much easier to smooth-talk the Alphas and get them on my side, and they end up pampering me like an egg. In the original novel, there was not much communication between Jo-Pil and the Alphas, so I'm wondering if he had acted like me from the beginning, would things have worked out for him in a much better way? Even without much communication, they ended up falling for him so... Why not? I could just say I was lucky enough to be utilizing that protagonist's luck or magnet, whatever it was. However, the cautious one takes it all. That afternoon, Ki-hoon came over with Hyun-woo to check up on my fever. He was actually surprised to see Jin-Yeok was still in the mansion. Yeah, I was just also surprised so he could stay in line right behind me. Seriously, why was he still here? Didn't he have to go check out his boutiques or maybe travel outside the country to go fight a gang battle or something? Just watching him smile at me made me uneasy. Sure, he was nicer now and gave his word that he would never hit me, I couldn't relax when his eyes were slithering all over me like a green snake in the green grass, all while keeping up that fake and charming smile. Ahem, I reserve my complaint. There's nothing wrong with his smile, but I get a feeling each time he smiles like that, he's cooking up something just for me, and it's not safe to be a part of that madman's plans. Okay, so we have the brute, Ki-hoon who's turned into a gentle brute. There's the unpredictable child, who has become a bit predictable. And then there's the smiling madman who was a walking time bomb. Jeez, these guys can't even have normal nicknames in my dictionary. I know I'm the one who 'carefully' picked out those nicknames but trust me, they were the best fit. I couldn't even dare to add handsomely to their nicknames since I would just be staring at the obvious. That was the maddening part. They were so freakishly handsome and have you heard Jin-Yeok's voice? I'm not gay but if he calls my name again, I might just go, 'Yes, daddy,' instead of 'Yes, master,' That's how good my name sounds from those devilish lips of his. (Author here, but I think I'm getting jealous of my own character. Just what is this discrimination?) Let's just be careful not to let such a thing slip from my lips. It would be a disaster. As soon as I thought that, he called out to me as if on cue. "Jo-Pil," "Yes, Daddy?" I answered and froze right away, my face and lungs immediately dried up. Wait, did I say that? No, that was my imagination, right? That was definitely my imagination. Someone, tell me it was my imagination. I definitely didn't say that. Like a spoiled robot in need of maintenance, I turned my head slowly to look at the three who were seated behind me to see their shocked expressions. No, shocked was an understatement. They were flabbergasted. Each and every one of them. Including Cha Hyun-woo who was administering my drip. If he wore glasses, I was sure they would fall at that point because of how shocked he was. The shock on Jin-Yeok's face faded more quickly than any other person and with his chin resting on those gloves knuckles of his, he grinned softly and asked, "Jo-Pil dear, are you daydreaming?" Gosh, look those lips curve. Why was he so devilishly handsome? He was a sin in its own right and I was smitten, forgetting I was scared of him just a moment ago. I didn't let my guard down. I swear I didn't let my guard down, and I was planning to remain cautious, but how... how did I let my thoughts slip out my lips like that? This is why I said he was a sin. And not just him. Those two who were still dumbstruck and flabbergasted were too. If I could, I would take it back. What kind of misunderstanding had I created with my response? Just when I was thankful the others didn't have voices like Jin-Yeok, Ki-hoon just had to look at me with that daredevil dark expression on his face and call my name in that deep gruff voice. What did he want from me? Did they want to skin me alive for choosing favorites so soon? Jeez, just rip my vocal cords out of my neck while you're at it because I was no longer certain I knew the words that would come out of my lips. I stared at the expression he was giving me. He was handsome, no doubt and I could get a nosebleed anytime. Oh, wait. Was that just me feeling anemic for not eating properly and now taking medications? In any case, I heard Jin-Yeok chuckle and glance at me, causing me to shut my eyes. With my eyes and my lips closed, they couldn't do anything to me and they couldn't force me to speak either. Call me rude but I'd rather save my skin at times like this. But something I wasn't expecting suddenly happened. Min-Cheol knelt in front of me and rested his head on my lap, causing me to open my eyes to find him giving me the puppy eyes. "Hyung, do you not like me anymore?" The author definitely knew what they were cooking up when they made the characters 'this' handsome and breathtaking. They got me. They got me real good. I ended up fainting from thinking too much and by the time I woke up, I found only Hyun-woo in the room, taking out the needly from my veins and packing the drip bag.
