Chapter 33 - Did I overdo it? "Jo-Pil, what do you think about marriage?" Ki-hoon asked, which got me confused. Why did he ask me that all of a sudden? I mean, marriage was marriage. A matrimony between two people. Was I supposed to think about something else in it? Hm, this was tricky. What if he was testing me? It might be a question that will have an impact in my future so let's think carefully. Marriage, marriage, what would Jo-Pil think about marriage? And then it came to me like a snap. "Are you asking me this as a person, an omega, or... As a slave bought by four masters?" I asked and his eyebrows slightly tilted. "Does it matter?" He asked and I nodded. "Well, the answers vary for each. If you're asking me as a person," I looked up at the ceiling of the room, the beautiful chandelier that was shining so brightly. "I'd say marriage is a matrimony between two people who love each other in order to be tied by the church and be together forever. If you ask me as an omega, then marriage is a means to legally get pregnant without the eyes of society judging me. Of course, an omega could still want to get married for love and have the baby of their husband, but these days, Omegas are mostly desired for childbearing and nothing more so that's how it is. One can't have the fantasy of marrying for love. Only a few lucky ones get that chance." I said, sadly. Ki-hoon gulped down to my hearing. His throat must've felt dry due to my answer. "And then, if you ask me that as a slave," my face fell, and I sighed. "There's honestly nothing to think about." "What do you mean?" "Why would I, a slave, dare to think about marriage? I have no right over my own life and I can only carry out the will of my masters. There's no way I'd have thoughts of marriage. It has nothing to do with me because as long as my masters live, I will never get married." My words must've had a heavy impact on Ki-hoon's heart because he placed down the book and brushed his brows as if he were exhausted. Did I overdo it? I don't think so. He should be well aware of the circumstances he put me, Jo-Pil, into when he suggested to the other three that they could all share me to avoid a fight from breaking out between the four families. Oh, right. I haven't mentioned this yet, have I? So, apparently, the reason why all four Alphas paid for the big with an astronomical amount of money was because I was very rare. You probably already know how rare I am but let me spell it out for ya. In the world's population where Betas were over 69 percent, Alphas was 24 percent, and Omegas were just 7 percent, Omegas like me, who had high breeding rates, were no more than 0.5 in that 7 percent population. In other words, we were super rare to the point it was almost impossible to find. Omegas like me had a one hundred percent breeding rate and the children we gave birth to were powerful Alphas whose dominant traits were far above others. Of course, an Alpha could get an ordinary Omega pregnant but their genes may not be perfectly passed on into the child. It might even turn out to be an Omega, a Beta, or a weak-willed Alpha. And as the four leading families who had a long lineage of powerful Alphas, these four had to produce an heir just as powerful as they were for the future to be safe. They all got the information at the same time that there was an Omega with a high breeding rate up for auction and immediately participated in the auction. So many other families participated as well, but as soon as they spotted the seal of these families, they knew they did not stand a chance. I'll introduce their family business later, but for now, let's focus on this. The first to arrive at the auction house was Ki-hoon, and as soon as he saw it was Jo-Pil, of course, he did not hesitate. He was ready to buy him at all costs, but so did the others. It's killing two birds with one stone." He was practically the only one who saw this as fun. Everyone else had their own agenda. While Ki-hoon was out for revenge, Min-Cheol simply wanted to figure out if the toy was worth spending his time on; the next person only wanted an heir and nothing more, while 'he' hoped to 'play' with Jo-Pil as much as he wanted. And that was how they came to an agreement and bought Jo-Pil, aka me. I glanced at Ki-hoon; he seemed to still be contemplating what I had said. I guess it might've been deeper than I thought. Knowing I had been stripped of my rights and my life being in the hands of four different people was finally getting to him. Now that our differences had been set aside, he was finally thinking like a human being and realizing the kind of situation I had been put into. I sighed. Guess I'll just try to sleep. But then, I felt Min-Cheol squeeze my hands lightly. Wait, wasn't he asleep? "I have a question, Hyung," he said. "I... I thought you were sleeping." I said and watched his eyes open. I won't lie, those blue eyes were very pretty. "I was trying to but that old man's annoying voice was so disturbing. But I didn't say anything since he was doing it for you." He said and said up, looking down at me. Maybe I should sit up too. I was about to do so when he dropped a bomb on me. "Hyung, what do you think about making babies?" He asked and I paused. What... Why did he just ask me? "And I'm not asking this as a slave, as a person, what do you think about making babies?"
