Chapter 144: I could feel your sincerity in it, so why wouldn’t I like it? One more day went by and I did not face any single harassment from Seo-Jun. Whatever he was planning, I planned to be on guard against it, because I knew he was definitely planning something. I’d see him walking up the stairs while I walked down and as much as it displeased me, I tried not to seem too rude and at least bowed my head before hurrying away. Most times, I felt him glancing back and watching me as I made my escape but he never did anything about it. He simply... Watched. Which was even more creepy, don’t you think? He stared at me with those red, cunning eyes of his and was waiting like a predator for the perfect time to go after his prey. Just thinking about it gave me goosebumps. He was hardly away from the mansion and when he did leave, he never failed to return that night in hopes of collecting the Chapters I had written. He was draining me, that man. I just needed to take a quick break, maybe visit a spa or something, and maybe mold my face back into shape because, as it seemed, I was losing the shape of my face because of overwork. News flash, I was no longer skin and bones, yay. I made sure to eat a lot and the results are satisfying. Although, I felt my belly was starting to get a little bloated. Maybe I was eating too much. They were feeding me so much, hoping to faten me up but at this rate, I felt I would turn into a pig in size. "Hyung, Hyung, I’m free today and I plan to take you out." Min-Cheol said in excitement and my eyes glittered. Ah, Min-Cheol, you’re the best. Honestly. "Really? We can go out?" I asked. We were at the dining table with Ki-hoon missing, Jin-Yeok watching us, and Seo-Jun, whose eyes were glued to his phone’s screen. "Yes, I promised I’d take you out a few weeks back, remember?" He was referring to the time he made plans with me when we stayed all night at the library before the accident. Ah, come to think of it... "Little Min, I never got to thank you for the book and bracelet you got me." I said, and the ears of the others suddenly perked up at my words. "I liked the bracelet a lot, and the book was very interesting. I finished it yesterday. Thank you." I smiled at him and he blushed happily. "I’m just glad, Hyung. You said you liked books so I didn’t forget. And as for the bracelet..." He began to fiddle his fingers. "...I never heard your opinion of it so I never got to know if you liked it or not." He dropped his hands and smiled at me. "I’m glad you did." "I could feel your sincerity in it, so why wouldn’t I like it?" Min-Cheol suddenly blushed, feeling good about my words. "I’m glad, Hyung." Hmm, the atmosphere suddenly got a bit weird. I was simply talking to Min-Cheol about the things he got me so what was this thick hair of jealousy I was sensing? Was it Jin-Yeok? I wondered but he wasn’t showing much hostility towards us. Then, was it...? My gaze traveled to Seo-Jun and our eyes met. I flinched and looked away right away. Nope, that wasn’t jealousy I felt. It was definitely anger. ’Why the hell is he angry all of a sudden? Are we disturbing him or something?’ I thought. That angry gaze of his felt so threatening that I didn’t even know when I had turned away. It felt like my life was in danger all of a sudden. "Anyway, where would you like to go?" Min-Cheol asked, pulling my attention towards him as he held my hand. "Um, I’m not sure." I said. "I don’t know a lot of places and..." My gaze subconsciously traveled to Jin-Yeok as I remembered the gardens we had visited and then the accident after lunch. Something like that wouldn’t happen a second time, right? But something else did surprise me. I thought that after what had happened, I would be forbidden from stepping out of the mansion even if I was being accompanied by any of my masters, all for my safety. I would be caged. But they did not stop me neither did they impose any rules on me. I was still free, and though it looked like they worried about me more than anything, they were certain that taking away my freedom would only warrant me resenting them instead of feeling grateful. I wouldn’t have minded if they did something like that. Because the feeling of being restricted to one place had somehow gotten used to me. Maybe it was because I was more of an introvert who would prefer locking myself in my room and burning my nose in the pages of wonderful fantasy books, than going outside to interact with others. Was I also an introvert in my last life? I had no idea but the idea of being locked up or confined to the mansion was absolutely detestable to me at that time. I’ve changed. And so have they. They were more mature when thinking about the well-being of the one they cared about and didn’t childishly think that keeping me locked up in the mansion would keep me away from any harm. Let me tell you, there’s nowhere safe in this world. Not even in your home. One day, you could be walking down the stairs and suddenly get a cramp on your feet which makes you lose your step and bam, an accident. And who caused it? It wasn’t like an evil witch was hiding in your basement or a villain who was jealous of your love life decided to push you down with trickery; it was all an accident. So, an accident could happen anywhere no matter the time or place. If they had said something like that to me in this present life then maybe I would’ve taught them a thing or two about life just so they could understand that locking someone up for their own good wasn’t a wise solution. The only solution was being careful, but not so careful that you’d fail to see your own surroundings and disregard what really happened. "Then, can we go shopping?" I asked him, clasping my hands together and smiling gleefully. "I’ve always wanted to go shopping without having to worry about the price tag." I said and he nodded. "That sounds fun." Min-Cheol agreed right away. "Let’s go shopping, Hyung." Hehehe, I’m going to buy everything I set my eyes on and feel very good about it. Nothing could stop me now, muhahaha.
