Chapter 19: That was why I treasured my weekends After having my bath, I got dressed by the maids. I noticed that there was no difference in my growth. I mean, the food I had stuffed my belly with wasn't showing in my body yet. Guess I'd have to eat for a few more days to see improvements. Min-Cheol had called the Doctor but it took him a while to arrive there, so Min-Cheol decided to show me around the mansion. He would occasionally land his hands on my butt and squeeze, which would make me uncomfortable, but I felt with time, I would grow accustomed to it and not mind it. There was no harm in him squeezing my butt anyway. I could just take it as child's play. Min-Cheol showed me a rather interesting part of the mansion that I did not notice in the novel. There was a Library. And not just a small three-shelf library; it was a real freaking Library. It was located at the annex of the mansion so it was almost like this entire place was built to store books. For book lovers like me, it was like a freaking paradise. "Why is there a Library?" I asked. It wasn't even dusty or old. It looked like it had been newly built and filled someone's old collection of books, as well as new and fresh stories that were released in recent years. Which of the Alphas had a hobby of reading? It wasn't Ki-hoon, definitely not Min-Cheol, and it wasn't that sadistic bastard either. Among the Alphas, the one who looked like he was living by a book and would actually sit down to indulge in pages of ink was the Alpha I'd probably be meeting in two days. Mind you, he's a hot one. Just as the novel described. "Do you like books, Hyung?" Min-Cheol asked. "Yes, I love reading." I answered and took out one of the books. It was a textbook with historical records. I looked at the shelf and noticed it was exclusively for History books. Same with the other two shelves that were labeled, 'History 1, 2 and 3'. "Oh? Lucky then. I was thinking of skipping this place because books are boring but it seems I made the right choice." He said. I suddenly found a place I could spend my lonely and spare time in. How lucky was I? "Okay, let's go back inside the house. Old man two should be here already." My insides felt giddy after discovering the Library that I just wanted to skip every other thing and just start reading. After graduation, I started to focus on my life more, trying to secure a job so that I could put food on my table, but the world was cruel. It was hard to survive a well-paying job and then have spare time to do what one liked. I hardly had time to pick up a book and read. Even after being promoted to manager after years of working hard, I still didn't have spare time for myself and was very diligent. That was why I treasured my weekends. It was the time when I could finally open a book and get lost in its pages, but time was so short that before I knew it, it was already Monday. 'I'm glad I don't have to work to put food on my table now. And I have a lot of spare time till all the action drama begins, so I'll make the best out of it and borrow that kind sir's library.' I thought, my cheeks brightening up. "It seems you're really happy about the Library, Hyung." Min-Cheol said and I nodded. "I'm super excited," Cha Hyun-woo took one hard glance at me before looking away. He was probably wondering how I had gotten Min-Cheol to call me Hyung. Anyone who knew him well would know it was odd. He wasn't the kind that gave out privileges all willy-nilly, was a very cautious and hard-to-approach guy even when he was always smiling, and did not trust anyone, not even his mother. That's why she ended up dead. Ahem, wanna hear about that? So, before Min-Cheol took over the reins of the family as well as the company, he was feared by everyone in his family. They thought that he would be easy to manipulate but contrary to their expectations, this hard and cunning child was very hard to control. So, they needed to get him out of the game and put someone else who could serve their cause. If he would not listen to them and do his bidding, there was no need to make him the head of the family. So, they sent his mother, who was just a side woman who climbed her way into the family by drugging his father with her heat pheromones when she was in heat, inducing him into a rut. Since the current head of the family at that time had no heirs and an Omega had presented herself to him, he took them in. And Min-Cheol had been raised as the heir. Though, he ended up having another child with Min-Cheol's mother. It was also an Alpha. But unlike Min-Cheol's absolute dominant traits, this Alpha was far weaker and inferior so no one paid heed to him as a successor candidate. But at that point, when they planned on getting rid of Min-Cheol, they decided to have his brother as the head of the family, which they could manipulate, was better than having a strong-headed lunatic like him. They planned to cut the sprout before it grew into a tree. That day, Min-Cheol's mother served him a glass of milk while smiling and talking about all sorts of things, but when his mother had looked away for just a moment, he exchanged their glass, poured half of his in the decorated teapot next to them and smeared a bit on his lip. "The milk tastes good, mummy." He said, smiling like he always would. His mother had cold sweat but she felt there was nothing else they could do and drank hers. Her other son happened to approach at that moment and wanted to drink milk as well. So, Min-Cheol offered his to him but his mother quickly rejected it and gave him hers instead. Unfortunately for her, that glass of milk was the real poisoned milk and they had both drunk the poisoned milk. That was how they both died, leaving no one to contend with the position with him. As for those who had put his mother up to it, he made sure to get back at them many years later, after he had taken the position as head and when they thought that matter had died. Min-Cheol was the type who would not let such matters die so easily so they had it coming. 'That's why I'd really not like to get on his bad side.' I thought as I glanced at his smiling face. 'Innocence in the front and evil at the back where no one could see. That's a perfect way to describe his character.'
