Chapter 49 - I thought you told me instant ramyeon was junk food? "Noona, where did these come from?" I asked but she lowered her gaze and said, "Please don't call me that, master. I'm but a servant in this household." She said and I paused. Right, they were like this. Then, could I at least call them by their names? I was tired of having to address them as the maid did this and the maid did that. Plus, I see this one around a lot. She helps with my bathing, with my dressing, and all that other minor stuff. It wouldn't hurt to at least know her name. "Then, should I just call you by your name?" I asked. "What's your name? You'll at least tell me that, right?" "My name..." She seemed to get lost for a moment but then shook her head and said, "Please, call me whatever you wish." I sighed. She was such a stubborn one. Well, it's not like I expected anything less. "Okay, then I'll just call you April." I said to her and she felt stunned for a moment. Why? Was it that important? I simply called her April to save me the hassle of thinking of a name. Hmm, I don't remember any of the maids having their names mentioned in the novel. Was it because the author couldn't be bothered or they simply didn't have a name? They were as gloomy and eerie as the Walking Dead, never saying anything if it wasn't important and doing whatever they were asked by their masters. Furthermore, April is actually quite pretty. She has these pretty eyelashes and clear eyes. She didn't have this typical side character portrait at all. Her skin is nice too. Working in this temperature every day must be bad for the skin, but it's got nothing on her. I reached my hand out to her and swiped the few loose strands of her hair behind her ear and she stared at me surprised. She must've worked so hard. How old was she? 21? 22? She looked young but I couldn't pinpoint her age. I smiled. She's hard to read, but at least she knows how to blush when someone slides her hair behind her ear. Anyway, back to the main topic. "I thought you told me instant ramyeon was junk food so why's there an entire refrigerator filled with it?" I asked and she nodded. "I will not make any excuses but the doctor, who stated this, changed his mind this after and said it would be okay to take it as a snack." She said and I nodded. Uh-huh, uh-huh, and I'm not seeing how he was able to know I was craving ramyeon. It's not like April would've told him for me. The one she would've told was... My eyes widened. "Wait, did you tell one of the masters about my cravings?" I asked and she nodded. "We are expected to report everything about you to the masters, whichever we come in contact with first." She said and I bit my thumb again. Shoot! Does this mean everything I do and say is being reported? I gotta watch my words going forward. "Then, which master did it?" I asked and she answered, "Master Lee." Ah, as in Lee Ki-hoon. Ha-ha, I knew that guy would be a sucker for me before long. He was already buying so many ramyeon so I would never crave it again. I felt proud for 'raising' him well. "Master Lee bought the refrigerator specifically for your ramyeon and we're expected to report to him as soon as it's halved." She said and my mouth almost dropped. He bought the refrigerator as well? My face lit in glee. My baby was so good to me. I should find a way to apologize to him about earlier. I wasn't picking favorites. I was just swayed by the moment and made such a mistake. If I was going to pick favorites, I would definitely start weighing the pros and cons. My favorite master would definitely be the one that's the best at treating me well. And so far, Ki-hoon is on top. "Then, then, can I have one now? Can I? Can I?" I asked, like an excited baby and she nodded. "Which taste would you go for first?" She asked and I knew just the thing. The instant ramyeon with shrimps was my very best and I missed it. April said to wait at the dining table and wait for her, but then I changed my mind and told her to prepare two more with different tastes. She could do the picking. Instant Ramyeon did not take time to prepare. All she needed was hot water. But I guess with how the kitchen was so rowdy and everyone was busy, she'd have a hard time looking for an empty stove to boil the hot water. Well, I didn't mind. I could wait. I would just wait at the dining table where it was just me and me alo-- ah, scratch that. It wasn't just me. There was a mean-looking 'daddy' sitting at the head of the table, and his gaze was fixed on me, never wavering. It was as if he already knew when I would walk out. I tried to pretend like I didn't see him and whistle my way through but he made it so obvious that there was a person there and shifted his chair back, scraping the marbled floor roughly and loudly. Curses. "Oh my, master," I called, faking a smile right away. At times like this, one must know when to give up. I quickly walked up to him and said, "I thought I was the only one present but it turned out you were here as well." I said and got behind him, placing my hands on his shoulder and giving him a massage for all its worth. "Is my strength okay, Master?" I asked. "What are you doing?" Ki-hoon asked and I laughed. "I'm giving you a massage," I said but he glanced back at me. "I never asked you to do that and... Why have you started calling me master again?" He asked, his dark eyes fixed on mine and making my words curl up on my tongue. Ah, this brute was such a grumpy one, no doubt. Can't you just enjoy the massage and be done with this?
