Weren’t they supposed to be having dinner at this time? Seo-Jun looked at me and I looked back at him. The expression on his face was plain and the look in his eyes was blank. He wasn’t showing any emotion, as if he had prepared himself knowing I was heading for the dining table. "Everyone’s busy," he suddenly said and I gulped, my throat feeling somewhat itchy. Thank you, Mister Obvious. "Being busy isn’t a reason to skip meals." I said, a certain boldness and anger enveloping me. What were they thinking? Seo-Jun observed me for a while instead of giving me the response I was waiting for. It got me feeling antsy. Was he messing with me? He knew my condition so he should hurry up if he had something to say. Why were they not having dinner? "They’re not skipping meals." He finally answered. "They’re just not having it together. Why would they? They weren’t exactly buddy-buddy before you arrived, so this is the norm." He picked up his glass of red wine and slowly pulled it to his lips. Why didn’t I think of that? I wasn’t joining them for dinner so they probably had no reason to eat together. And since they could only see me for a while in the day, they didn’t even need to remain in the mansion either. Before I came into the picture, there was no vivid relationship between the four Alphas and nothing connected him besides their titles and their businesses. If it wasn’t business then you’d probably never see two Alphas chatting together. "Ah," Because of that surprise current, I felt a sprain on my ankle and nearly fell. Even with the exercises I was active in, it still didn’t feel the same as using my legs normally. I was planning to hold the chair for support, but suddenly, Seo-Jun grabbed my hand and pulled me into his body; my head hit his chest, and I nearly pushed myself away. It was thanks to a certain fearful reflex but I was able to stop myself, my hand trembling in his. He saved me. Even if I was shocked, I could still see that fact. He knew I was going to fall so he changed the direction and caused me to fall on him instead. But still... "What... What are you doing?" I asked, looking into his eyes with a stubborn conviction in my eyes but he did not respond. He stared into my eyes and just like before, I saw that glint of guilt in his red eyes. I did not imagine it. He was feeling guilty, but I doubt he would explain anything to me even though I asked him the reason. Taking a deep breath in, I exhaled and looked at him more calmly. My trembling stopped. He opened his mouth to speak but then closed it, biting his bottom lip hesitantly. But from the way I saw it, Seo-Jun did not know what to say. He was out of words. What was he trying to say that it felt so hard to form words? What was it that was making him so cautious when choosing the words to say? "I’ll try." He suddenly said and my eyes widened. "I’m not telling you I’ll be a better person. I... I’ll still be like this. But I’ll try... Not to hurt you when all you want to do is survive." He said and then let go of my waist, freeing my hands gently and slowly. I stared at him in disbelief. Had I just heard what I thought I heard, or was I in some kind of dream? Seo-Jun just... With that meek expression on his face that was so not like him... He just said he’d try? "...not to hurt me?" Believe me, I was in shock.
