Was Zeran saying she wasn’t attractive enough to make him hard, or was it him who had the issue? She was confident—most likely the latter. She finished the now lukewarm milk in a single gulp and stood up, walking toward Zeran. But just as she passed by his sofa, intending to sit across from him, Zeran gripped her wrist. He pulled her in gently, guiding her straight into his lap. That sudden landing sent her heartbeat pounding in her ears. She had just felt a bit relieved, thinking Zeran’s annoying behaviour had helped her rebuild the walls in her heart. But now, their closeness was like fire licking at ice, melting every icy brick she’d managed to stack. The swirling heat in her lower belly made her painfully aware of her baby bump—eager, fluttering, clearly thrilled by Zeran’s presence and refusing to take her side in this battle for pride. She wondered if she told him the white bread she ate this morning was a bit dry and hard, would Zeran call in a five-star hotel bakery chef to fix that too? She scoffed inwardly at how absurdly easy rich people had it. Lethia let out a heavy sigh. "What do you want to talk about? Must we talk like this?" "The baby likes it. Helps you sleep more easily later. Or... do you want us to just sleep together every night?" Lethia blushed at that, but kept her fierce glare on, throwing him a side-eye sharp enough to cut. "Why would I sleep with a man who can’t even get hard?" she mocked confidently. But Zeran just burst into that cocky laugh of his. "Why the hell should I get hard just to sleep?" His words hit her like a slap. She realised her mind had gone too far ahead on its own, and it was embarrassing. She wanted to crawl under the blanket and disappear, but instead, all she could do was look away and try to keep her face blank, even though her heartbeat was hammering in her chest. "So what do you want to talk about? Just get to the point!" she snapped, steering the conversation away. "Have you decided yet?" Zeran asked flatly. "Will you marry me or not?" The sudden question knocked her off guard, the awkward silence wrapping around her. "That’s... uh... I still need some time." Zeran looked away for a moment, as if weighing something in his head. "You’ve run out of time." His gaze snapped back to her, sharp and pressing. "Should we get married?" she asked, trying to keep her voice steady. "Can’t we just... be partners in crime?" "And what do I get out of it, huh? Do you really think I’d let you walk away and raise my baby alone once it’s born?" He leaned closer, his voice low and unyielding. "I want this baby. I need this baby. And there’s no damn way you’ll just let me have it, will you? So, I will have you both!" If this baby had been the result of a one-night stand after Varrel’s betrayal, Lethia might have just said yes without a second thought. But ever since she got pregnant, she’d felt like she was carrying this baby alone. And now—suddenly—a powerful Lycan wanted to claim both her and the child. She was supposed to be happy about that, wasn’t she? Supposed to feel lucky? But the way Zeran said he would have them both unsettled her in ways she couldn’t understand. "You need this baby? Why?" she asked, her voice laced with doubt. "You could have as many babies as you want. You froze your sperm, didn’t you?
