Chapter 101: What She Want "I doubt it... If it’s about the scent, that’s because..." Lethia took a breath. "The baby I’m carrying is most likely Zeran’s." "We did a genetic test this morning, and I’m sure the result will say the same." The air thickened. Caelum and Renar both looked like they’d just been hit with the news of a death. Lethia braced herself, forcing her heart not to flinch. She changed her mind. She wouldn’t tell them about the fox bead—not with Whisney still missing. So, if they later asked why their bodies felt so tethered to hers, she could easily blame the baby’s bond. "Zeran told me," she added quietly, "it’s likely the strong bond between you three that got you bewitched by my scent, because this baby is his." Caelum laughed, soft at first, then bursting into a mocking loud. Renar only clenched his jaw, his eyes fixed on her with a piercing, cold stare. Both reactions from them were exactly what she’d expected. "Oh my fucking Queen. Are you doing comedy now? Because that’s fucking hilarious," Caelum said, still chuckling through his breath. Lethia rolled her eyes at him. But when she turned to meet Renar’s gaze, she froze. That pain in his eyes—sharp, guarded—said everything he hadn’t. And that silence unsettled her more than any shouting ever could. "Caelum, I’m not kidding. You don’t have to believe me. I just told you the truth, and the test result will prove it." Caelum’s laughter faded. His face started to mirror the weight of her words. "So what?" Renar’s clipped tone cut straight through her. It snapped something in her. "If all of that’s true," he continued, "then what the fuck do you want to do with us? Are you tossing me aside now just because you found a more useful man?" Renar’s words stabbed straight into Lethia’s chest like a blade. The clingy gaze and soft gestures from earlier had vanished, replaced with an icy coldness that made her stomach churn. "That’s..." Lethia paused, her voice faltering. "I..." She lost her words. "I want us to be good friends. The kind that help each other when needed." It sounded pathetic, even to her own ears. She’d messed up badly. She didn’t even know when she’d have to return to the fox’s mission, and here she was, asking to be friends with the very lycans who ached to fuck her. With that bright, shit-eating grin of his, he said, "I don’t make friends with women, my lethal Queen. My fans would lose their fucking minds, and most likely start bothering any poor woman who dares to say they’re friends with me. But now..." He winked. "I’m making one." Caelum turned his phone toward Lethia. On the screen, a brand-new social media post gleamed: Congratulations Lethia Ashcroft for passing the Executive Aide Entrance Test. From your beloved boy(space)friend. Lethia’s jaw dropped. Stunned. Speechless. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing. "Ah... look at that. My beloved sister’s already calling," Caelum said, smirking as his phone buzzed in his hand. "Seems like I’ll be busy for a while." He leaned in close, voice dropping like silk laced with sin. "The next time we meet... I’ll make sure you scream my name." That low, sultry whisper made Lethia flinch—her reflexes pushed him away. But Caelum grabbed her wrist, firm but gentle, and pressed a soft kiss to the back of her hand before letting her go and walking off, leaving her there alone. Lethia bit her lip, heart pounding erratically. She didn’t need to be on social media to know that Caelum’s post was about to throw her into a world of trouble. She quickly packed her things and left Renar’s penthouse without looking back. *** Renar drove like a madman, speeding down the road. The blue holographic screen blinked with his repeated attempts to call Zeran, yet still no answer. He slammed his fist against the steering wheel, jaw clenched, fury etched across his face Zeran wasn’t picking up. That alone pissed him off, but hearing that the child Lethia carried might be Zeran’s? That made his blood boil. He’d had his suspicions. But he never thought it could be real. Not with every consequence that would come with it. As soon as he arrived at Terenian Hospital, he stormed through the halls, heading straight to the research division. The moment his subordinates saw him, their eyes flicked to one another with silent questions. The usually composed, meticulously dressed doctor had just walked in wearing a wrinkled t-shirt and baggy pants like he’d rolled out of bed in a rage. "How’s the progress on the L subject test?" Renar’s voice cut through the room like a scalpel. The researchers inside the lab froze, tension thick in the air. "We’re already in the final stage, sir," one of them answered cautiously.
