Chapter 66 - Animal Abuse As blood continued to squirt out of the poor pig, Utakata made no move to stop it. Instead, he calmly asked, "Why?" Ren frowned, watching the poor pig. "Too much chakra." Utakata nodded. "Precisely. Even though your overall chakra control is quite good, when it comes to controlling yang chakra, you're still a bit rough. The only reason you managed to succeed at all was because of your prior experience handling yang chakra through Fuinjutsu. Without that, you wouldn't have been able to pull it off." He paused there, and Ren looked back at the pig, which had thankfully stopped acting like a fountain. This time, Ren formed the hand signs again and placed his hand gently above the wound. He repeated the same steps as before but made sure to be especially cautious with his chakra output. When he was finished, he slowly pulled his hand back and instead of leaning over to inspect it, he waited. A few seconds passed. No blood fountain. The clot looked neat. He glanced at Utakata, who gave him a short nod. "Good." Utakata then reached into the fishbowl, fished out one of the small creatures, and gave it a light slash. The fish started flopping around on the desk, bleeding. "Now the target is smaller and won't stop moving until it dies," Utakata said. Ren narrowed his eyes at the fish. 'Typical methods won't work if it keeps thrashing like this.' He riled up his chakra and concentrated it entirely on the fish. The fish, which had been flopping chaotically, suddenly froze and trembled under his chakra. Ren didn't hesitate. He formed the hand seals, placed his palm just above the wound, and focused. Once the clot formed, he tossed the fish back into the bowl. It started floating again. Ren looked up, satisfied, only to see his Sensei pinching his nose and sighing. "I've seen this before... Like father, like son, really," Utakata muttered under his breath. "Sensei?" Ren asked, confused. Utakata sighed again but didn't say anything. Wordlessly, he pulled out another fish and made a small cut. The fish started flopping wildly like the last one. This time, Utakata extended his hand toward it, his palm radiating a soft green glow of yang chakra. He gently brought his hand near the fish, not touching it just radiating calming chakra. Slowly, the fish stopped flopping. He waited a moment longer, then removed his hand, sealed the wound with a clot, and dropped it back into the bowl. It swam away peacefully. Ren looked over at his own fish, which was still alive, but floating awkwardly and just... staring at him. He quickly looked away. Utakata, ignoring the stare-off, continued, "Although it might not seem all that useful to you right now, remember this trick. Just in case you ever have to treat small creatures or sage forbid children." He said the last part quietly but Ren heard it and awkwardly scratched his head. ~~~ Utakata made Ren practice the jutsu on the pig and the fish a few more times before handing him another scroll. "This is the Poison Extraction Jutsu," he said, while Ren set the scroll aside for now. He placed his hand just above the cup of water he had brought earlier, and Ren watched as the material mixed into the water slowly began to float upward. Utakata's hand moved gradually, and the foreign substance followed his palm as if drawn by an invisible thread. Once it had cleared the surface of the water, he pulled out a small bottle and guided the floating glob into it. After sealing the bottle and placing it aside, he continued, "Even though it's called the Poison Extraction Jutsu, at its core, this is a ninjutsu. You can use it creatively for other purposes too." To demonstrate, Utakata placed his hand above a blood stain on the table left by the pig. Slowly, the blood lifted from the surface, hovering in the air. Under his precise control, it took the form of a round, floating orb. He directed the orb to the nearby trash bin and dropped it in effortlessly, leaving that part of the table spotless. He then gestured for Ren to open the scroll. Ren did as asked and started reading through the details. Ren waited there patiently, holding the material in place midair. Finally, Utakata handed him the bottle. Ren carefully guided the floating glob into it, sealed it, and set it aside. He then examined the water once again to check for any leftover residue. Finding none, he looked back at Utakata. "Good work," the man said with a nod. Utakata casually kicked the dustbin near him toward Ren and pointed at the blood still staining the table. Without needing to say anything, Ren understood that this was part of his training now. Ren nodded and got to work. While he focused on cleaning the blood using the Poison Extraction Jutsu, Utakata took out a sheet of paper and began writing something quietly at his desk. He glanced toward Utakata, who didn't even look up, still calmly writing on the paper in front of him. He continued for a few more seconds before Utakata finally stopped writing and handed him the paper. "This is the most basic jutsu required for a med-nin. It's a sensory technique that helps a doctor understand exactly what the problem is." Ren glanced at the paper. The name at the top read Sensory Diagnostic Jutsu. Then he raised his own hand, the green glow returning, and held it above the fish. "The only way to resuscitate someone who has suffered from asphyxiation is to stimulate their heart or brain with yang chakra*." As he spoke, the fish twitched faintly, then fully resumed its movements. Utakata calmly picked it up and tossed it back into the water. Ren opened the scroll next, scanning through the detailed contents. The Mystical Palm Technique was listed as an A-rank medical ninjutsu, requiring five hand signs before applying chakra through the palms onto an injured area. The technique involved stimulating cell regeneration and repairing physical damage ranging from bruises to fractured bones. The key, however, was in the control. Ren moved quickly. He performed the required hand signs and placed both hands above the fish, targeting the heart with his chakra. A gentle green light emitted from his palms. The fish twitched slightly, but then stilled again. Ren wanted to continue; however, Utakata stopped him. "Stop. Start over." Ren stopped and once again made hand signs and placed his palms above the fish. Unknown to Ren, Utakata had scooted his chair a little far as he continued pushing chakra. Since the fish was not responding, Ren continued stimulating its heart. But when he realized that the heart was not working, he changed it to the brain.
