Chapter 31: The Legendary SSS Dragon"Brat, are you awake?" At first, Vacuse thought he was back in his childhood days where he had to wake before the sun was up, but the voice that was talking seemed to be coming from a talking mountain because the vibration made his bones shake. It was then that everything came rushing back and Vacuse leapt to his feet in shock. "What happened?" He looked around wildly. He seemed to be in a place that was filled with endless darkness because everywhere he turned was darkness and only darkness. "Brat!" The voice was that of a male and its bellow was loud enough to shatter the ear. A voice snapped. Vacuse slowly turned. He had seen a mountain in the darkness earlier but he didn’t pay it much attention. He blinked. He was looking at a Dragon that seemed to be bigger than the biggest mountain he had ever seen. It was a black Dragon, the deepest black he had ever seen. Seven horns jutted out of its head like mountain peaks. Its purple eyes were fixed on Vacuse. Its wings seemed to fill the whole darkness and it was as if the wings were the dark itself as they shuddered and moved behind him. Unlike the other Dragons, with whom Vacuse felt awe and majesty— Although he also felt all those, the other things he felt right then made him take several steps back. Chaos and anger. Destruction and hatred. Vacuse shivered. Then he frowned because he saw that something was wrong with the Dragon. Thick chains wrapped around its limbs, curling around its neck and the joints of its wings. The ends of the chains disappeared into nothingness and they just hung in the air like that. They stared at each other. Dragon and man. Red eyes against purple. It... he didn’t say anything and just watched him quietly. Vacuse took a deep breath to steady himself and his nerves. He cleared his throat. "Are you the one that brought me here?" His words were met only with silence. He tried again. "You brought me here, right? What is this place?" Finally, the Dragon inhaled. "Brat, you are actually here, right?" Vacuse blinked. Isn’t it this Dragon that brought me here? What’s he talking about again? But he wasn’t one to argue with a Dragon so he nodded. "I am here." The Dragon closed its eyes briefly and then let out a loud and long sigh that seemed to come directly from the soul. Then his purple eyes lit up. "Ah! Finally! I can’t believe this! You are here!" Then he began to laugh, a loud belly laughter that made the space around them tremble and shake. Vacuse grimaced. Just his luck that he would be facing a crazy Dragon. But he was already forming something in his head of what might be happening. ’...the Dragon is chained and from its reaction it... he has not seen anyone in a long time... but with the reactions of the other Dragons then it might not necessarily be a good thing...’ ’...just what sort of situation did I find myself in?... where is this place? It ends at SS of the Sixth Realm, right... then what’s happening here...’ But then the Dragon seemed to realize something. It moved its great bulk forward as far as the chain would allow and then stared at Vacuse. It was an awkward stare considering one of his eyes was far bigger than him. "Hummmm... let’s see," the Dragon said, and then the next moment it changed. Its great form warped and twisted until it was not a Dragon standing in front but a man. "It’s been a long time since I tried this... yes... I got it." Not quite. Vacuse wanted to point out because the man standing in front of him had a tail that swished behind him and seven small horns on his head. A young-looking man... Dragon with bright purple eyes grinned at him. "Brat! Welcome to my home!" Vacuse stared at the chains on him doubtfully. His home? Or a prison? He swallowed and took a deep breath, remembering some pieces of manners. He bowed. "The pleasure is mine, Great Dragon." The Dragon seemed surprised and then he threw his head back arrogantly and laughed. "That’s right. I remember when you puny humans bowed down to worship me so I don’t eat you. Those were good days!" Vacuse blinked. The Dragon was talking about the Dark Warring Era? A time where Beasts and men still coexisted and when men were at the bottom of the food chain. It was so long ago that even the history of the time couldn’t be accurately known now. The Dragon continued. "Congratulations, Brat. You have been chosen by me. The Legendary SSS Dragon! The seed of chaos! The throne of void! The dark warlord of war! The Lord of Dragons! The Coiling Serpent of the Void! The Wings of..." Vacuse stopped listening after the first title. He only stared blankly at the Dragon in front of him. The Legendary what now? SSS Dragon? What the fuck? There’s nothing like that! Not in his entire two lives as a Vorrakyn had he heard of it. SS is the final rank and even then it’s a rank that’s shrouded in mystery. "Are you listening, Brat?" Vacuse could only shake his head. "There’s no SSS Dragon." The Dragon looked at him as if he’d hit his head on something. "Of course there is. One is standing in front of you right now. Although we are quite rare. One in a trillion. The SSS rank does exist. And do you know the second name for it? "A demi-god!" The Dragon’s purple eyes shone. "You are here for that Bound thing, right? I’ve seen you humans do it. Lucky you then, you can Bound with me." Vacuse narrowed his eyes. Although the Dragon was doing its best to hide it, Vacuse could hear something strange in his voice. The way he was hurrying him and speaking too fast. It reminded him of those people that target drunkards in the inns to scam. "If you are an SSS... a semi-god... why are you in chains?"
