In the end, they allowed them entry into the encampment, but it was under heavy surveillance. The grizzled Magus wasn't happy at all, as he was in charge of the entry that Vacuse and his team had just used, and they certainly did not expect anyone to try coming up the tunnel.Who's that stupid to try anyway? Apparently, people like Vacuse.
But the grizzled Magus couldn't even begin to imagine that Vacuse was more tense than them. After all, as far as he could tell, he wasn't where he should be.
He was in the enemy camp, so to speak. Although he still didn't know who the enemy was and who the ally was—if there was any at all. "But what exactly is going on here? I was told it was a battle between hunters, but isn't the number of Magus I'm seeing a little too much?"
Vacuse asked in a completely baffled tone, looking around him. Temporary structures had been put up all around, warded with tight enchantments that stung the senses. It was clear that it wasn't the type of thing most hunters could pull off casually.
Vacuse could even swear that he saw some Magus he recognized from Eboncrypt. It seemed he was directly in the lair of Fifth Circle Magus.
The grizzled Magus looked at him and shrugged. "We are not hunters in the general sense. We came from the outside."
Vacuse snorted. "So do I! The majority of hunters come from the outside. Thankfully, the mountains accommodate all!"
The grizzled Magus scowled. "What I meant, my lord, is that we are Magus of Eboncrypt. We are seeking a guy with red eyes who rides a dragon. With a lady. You wouldn't have seen such strange things, right?"
The eyes of Vacuse suddenly grew more intense, but he only smiled brightly, his eyes showing warmth as if he had just heard the best news of his life. "Dragon? I've read of such from my father's library! They really do exist? This is astonishing, and I absolutely must see it!"
The grizzled Magus looked away with a dissatisfied expression. "I don't think you want to see such a terrible creature, my lord. It is a vicious thing. A young lord like yourself shouldn't be looking for such things."
Vacuse only laughed. "I shouldn't be in the mountains either, but here I am! I am determined to travel the world and go on adventures!"
The grizzled Magus and some of the Magus guards accompanying them shook their heads with distaste. Only a spoiled, rich young master would think traveling the world and adventuring was something grand.
Either way, they all relaxed a little. The person they were looking for didn't have this type of personality, and it would be really stupid for him to walk into the Eboncrypt encampment on his own. Not only stupid, but suicidal.
"That is what we are looking for here in the mountains. And on the other side, the dragon hunters have taken one of the smaller tunnels that belong to the Bloodoak Union. The dragon hunters are suspected to have our dragon!"
Vacuse was genuinely curious about that, and he didn't hide his curiosity. "They do? Have you seen it? Maybe I'll get my chance to see a dragon after all! Imagine the looks on my father and the others!"
The grizzled Magus sneered. "I'm sure they do. After all, they're suspected to have the same type of power as the one we are looking for. Well, there's Magus among them, but the point still stands!"
But Vacuse wasn't listening anymore. His eyes were shining, and he kept blabbing on about the need to see a dragon. It went on like that until he was brought into a metal-constructed tent and told to wait for news of their superior.
Vacuse had no doubt that the room was warded and guarded, but above all, it must be under surveillance, and nothing they did or said would go unnoticed.
Lady Slave began in a hushed voice, leaning close to Vacuse and speaking directly into his ear, as if to make sure others wouldn't hear what they were saying.
Even though they would. And both Vacuse and Lady Slave knew that. For more chapters visıt ????????????????????~????????????????~????????????
The game had begun.
"My lord, your identity can be revealed here, and I can't begin to imagine what your father would do. Forget it, your mother is going to faint, and your fiancée would kill you!"
Vacuse froze when he heard that and began to sweat. "But... but! Give me something to drink first!"
He grunted and took the drink, almost splashing it on the ground. He also lowered his voice. "But I didn't expect something like this to happen! How would I have known I'd fall into the middle of a war? And that bear of a Magus seemed as if he was about to devour me!"
Lady Slave was still speaking in a hushed voice as she replied, "Be as it may be, it has happened, and we must do something about it. What should we do? We absolutely must not be caught up in this and must send word to those in the city so they can take it further in. Only then would your father not eat you."
Vacuse took a deep breath, and his jolly cheeks shook with the effort to frown. "Well, what else could we do? We need to write a letter and send it over! I can't have my father panicking. He's going to have my head!
"But first, we must get out of here before Father decides the mountains are unsafe!"
Of course, all the elaborate words and acting were planned beforehand. Going into the encampment, there were only two choices of what could happen.
The first was that the people he met were his allies, or his enemies. Maybe there was even a third option, and there wouldn't be any allies at all.
But from what he heard from the grizzled Magus, those on the other side might just be who Vacuse hoped they were—the dragon hunters, his hunters.
Then the next problem would be, how would he get his message across? How would the dragon hunters, who might or might not be enemies, know he was there?
