Chapter 240 of "The SSS Legendary Dragon Chose Me On Rebirth" opens revealing: "We should hunt those?" Lady Maraget asked as she stared at the monsters in front... Keep going!
"We should hunt those?" Lady Maraget asked as she stared at the monsters in front of her dubiously.Yutaka adjusted himself behind her. "Well, yes. This is the only hunting area we can find with the amount that we planned. We can get better hunting grounds in the next place."
Lady Maraget grumbled and shot the red-eyed slave a dark look. He too, like Yutaka, was standing at the far edge, and it seemed as if he had no thoughts of helping out.
She gritted her teeth and adjusted herself. "That's a disgusting monster."
Yutaka shrugged. "And that's why we were able to afford it. If we make enough money, we can upgrade in the next territory. Our last hunt money was spent on food... lots of food and weapons for you."
Yutaka's voice carried a hint of disapproval. If he didn't know better, he would think Lady Maraget and the blind guy were prince and princess with the way they ate. The type of food they chose to spend their money on! The request for only the best of the best in the mountains!
And the blind guy, who insisted that everyone refer to him as the Red Merchant, seemed to have leaned into his role as a merchant and began to buy things—rings and chains with magnificent clothes for his big glamour bulk.
All of this put a heavy strain on their resources, but at the same time, it cleared them of all suspicion, as the Red Merchant seemed like a spoiled kid who was traveling the mountains on an adventure.
He wouldn't be the only one. Lots of young lords and ladies did such.
But that also came with its own disadvantages, as they constantly fell under attack. Good thing that Lady Maraget knew how to hold her own well.
Lady Maraget grunted in disgust as she began to move toward the monster.
The best way to describe the monster was that it was a maggot with tentacles of fangs, three times taller than her and covered in a sticky substance that melted the ground it was standing on.
"We've observed it earlier. You need to go in fast and hit hard. It has the advantage of turning the battleground to its own benefit," the Red Merchant called from the very back.
Lady Maraget gritted her teeth and almost shouted that he should come and kill it himself, but of course, she held herself back. She could still remember those red eyes staring at her with coldness and cruel amusement. Thɪs chapter is updated by ????????????????????•????????????????•????????????
For all that he smiled and joked around, she never once let herself forget what he was.
Besides, for the duration of the journey, they had decided to let her take care of things unless it was absolutely necessary.
So she took a deep breath and began to move forward faster, her speed increasing. Indeed, they had shadowed the monster earlier and knew quite a bit about it.
She absolutely must not give it any chance to start its own attack.
She increased her speed, her blood boiling—literally. Blood Magi could control their blood in ways others could only imagine, and what's more, they could use spells on their blood to strengthen themselves.
Her eyes turned bloodshot as her speed increased until she now left only afterimages behind her. Each step she took left a deep imprint on the solid stones.
She crossed the distance faster than the monster could react to the vibrations it was feeling, and she was on it like a whirlwind of blades.
And just as she was about to collide with it, blood ruptured out of her skin and covered her like a shield.
Bam!
There was a wet, squishy sound as she slammed into the tentacle maggot's head, her sword—together with the momentum she built up and her strength—easily pierced through, disappearing into the tentacle maggot monster.
Moments later, the tentacle maggot monster began to squirm.
There was a reason hunters hated dealing with tentacle monsters. They had absurdly high regeneration abilities, and they wouldn't die even if they were cut up. They would regenerate in seconds. The only way to kill them was to crush their heart, which could be located anywhere inside them.
But there was a problem—their hearts were resistant to magic, and only brute strength would do. Added to that was the fact that their insides were made up of highly corrosive digestive acid. They were a pain in the ass to deal with.
That was why Lady Maraget covered herself in a blood shield and entered it to destroy it from the inside.
A moment later, the tentacle monster let out a high squeaking sound and went still.
When Lady Maraget fought her way out the next second, even the Red Merchant turned away. "Right. You can deposit that to the gang and collect our payment... you should also check out the bath. Take your time."
She let out a long growl.

Later, much later, when they had taken care of things, they resumed their walk back at the main tunnel.
That was how hard Vacuse drove them. The only thing he wasted a bit of time on was Yutaka cooking for them. Apart from that and buying the things they needed, they seemed to be constantly walking.
They walked for some hours when Vacuse suddenly tensed and stopped walking. He turned to Yutaka. "Where are we?"
Yutaka raised his brows as he turned to him. "We are very close to the center of the mountains. It's considered the seat of power of the whole place, with the toughest gangs—the strongest only.
"And right now we are about to reach the biggest city below the mountains... the Mountain City! This place has a lot of mini tunnels that lead to the rest of the mountains. It's as if it was made to be the center!
"Do you understand? From this place, you can directly move to any direction in the mountains. It's as if everything revolves around... huh?"
Suddenly, a loud explosion sounded far away, but it was powerful enough to shake the ground and make small stones rain on them.
