Chapter 112: The Dungeon

They couldn’t see the Dungeon from the outside, but they found themselves inside. In a large chamber that burned with low light. Vacuse, Captain Mera, and Amros. It was only the three of them. They looked around. The chamber seemed like the receiving hall of some nobles and it was actually in good condition. A stair led up, and as Vacuse remembered it, there was a total of eight floors, and every one contained different types of monsters. As far as Dungeons went, it was a really basic one. Vacuse’s job was to know the type of monsters on each floor and to divert their attention. "I don’t know, my lord." Captain Mera frowned. "This is a really weak and basic Dungeon. You won’t be rewarded with anything good in here. "If we divert a little, we can visit nearby Dungeons in the outposts when we’re returning. Those that your family controls." Right. Dungeons were really profitable and were also one of the main sources of the Vorrakyn’s wealth in the past. Come to think of it, the reason they had so few Dungeons now was because they were so strong and easily conquered all of them instead of slowly reaping the benefits. Vacuse sighed. His family was really a nut case. But then his eyes gleamed. Now that he was an SSS and a Vorrakyn, and soon to be the Grand Duke, he should be able to make his way to the Dark Island, especially to the part that the Empire controlled. But then he scowled when he remembered all the people who were waiting to kill him. He would have to put his Wilderness hold for later. But it was a way to generate money for the family. "...Maybe, when everything settles down, we will look at the map again and see how we can expand the Vorrakyn’s territory to those parts of the Wilderness that were still juicy..." "We’ll see about it. I need the reward of this Dungeon though," Vacuse said. "My lord, how do you know what the reward would be?" Amros asked. "Ragna told me the rumors." The Dungeons in this part were for the Orcs. Vacuse sighed again, then he began to climb the stairs. Then he paused and turned to Amros. "Your pathway, can you control metals that you don’t create?" Amros was surprised by the question, but he shook his head. "No. I can create my own metals and it’s the only type that I control." Vacuse nodded and continued climbing the stairs. Amros turned to look at the captain and she shrugged. "I don’t know." Vacuse began to clear the Dungeon and... It was... so easy. In the past, Vacuse’s life was literally on the line when he was in this Dungeon. He had run to avoid getting eaten. But now things were so different that it was almost laughable. The Dungeon was a Stage Two, and that meant the strongest monster there would be at the peak Stage Two. It was like crushing bugs beneath him. After he returned to the chamber, he held a small deep red ball that exuded an intense smell of fresh blood. Vacuse quickly put it into a small box he had prepared and placed it in his storage space. "What was that thing?" Apparently, Amros had relaxed enough around Vacuse. "Until we can return and show it to some of the members of the Association. You know they have the pathway that could appraise artifacts." But in truth, he knew what it was. It could change a person’s blood. If a true Vorrakyn put a drop of their blood in it and then waited a little before giving it to someone without the Vorrakyn blood, they would gain the red eyes and be a Vorrakyn for some months. Sometimes, things that are simple are also terrifying. Vacuse shrugged as they went towards the portal that would take them outside. It would take a while for the portal to close and fade away. In the meantime, if it was a standard Dungeon break, they would strip it of everything—from the wood, to the curtains, and anything that was valuable. Dungeons aren’t just about rewards or the monsters in them. Most times, the environment provides more than the reward. Soon they reached outside, and Vacuse thanked Lord Ragna publicly for giving him the opportunity to clear the Dungeon. Then they continued with their journey. Time passed, and soon two weeks had gone by. And that was when they began to see the Orc patrols. The first time they met one, a terrifying, crushing aura had locked into their surroundings, so strong that Captain Mera immediately shifted into her Form and everyone else was left trembling. Vacuse was just the same and had started to mentally prepare himself for a fight when Lord Ragna laughed. "It’s my uncle! The First General of the Warbine Clan!" The Orcs usually gave their strongest the title of "generals" and each Clan had their own. Depending on the number they wanted, they might have up to ten generals. The Warbines had five. Not because they had a shortage of talented Orcs, but because their standards were too high. They prided themselves as the only Clan with the true bloodline of the High Chief that conquered the whole of them. Almost all the High Clans of the Orcs claimed the same, and none could be said to be lying. After all, Orcs are known to have large harems with lots of children. In fact, during his time, the High Chief made sure he had children in all of the major Clans. But the Warbine Clan had the strongest claim, and that was because they had the sword that the High Chief held during his rule—the one he used to conquer the whole Orc race. And so the Warbines made their standards higher in things like choosing generals. The generals, the five, were equal to an S rank Soulbearer. The Warbines... are more powerful than the current Vorrakyn. And the reason they dare not attack was because of the Empire and other Clans. The Vorrakyn had really fallen off.
