Chapter 103: Entity

The face of the entity warped and twisted in anger as if it was particularly annoyed that Vacuse wasn’t affected. The intensity of the pressure on him doubled. He heard Rith grunt softly in response. ’...this bastard is more powerful than it seems but he’s sealed so we shouldn’t be that troubled for now...’ Everyone around him was either on their knees or unconscious, and the only thing saving most of them was the fact that the entity was focused on Vacuse. Only the Captain seemed to be able to withstand the force as well, but even then, she was looking down with her jaws clenched. Vacuse began to back away. Maybe if he was far from it, then the entity would return to the shrine. But the entity seemed to sense that as well, and unexpectedly, it began to open its eyes. It was just a crack at first, but even that was deadly. Winds howled through the air and the ground shook. The air turned heavy. Captain Mera gasped and blood flowed from her mouth. Most of the remaining people fell unconscious as well, as they felt as if their bones would grind to splinters inside their bodies. ’...things are getting dangerous...’ Rith’s voice echoed in his mind. ’...quick, get away before it opens its eyes...’ Vacuse didn’t need to be told twice. He turned around, ignoring everyone else as he prepared to shoot away. But the entity opened even more of its eyes, and a deadly force slammed into the surrounding areas, solely focused on Vacuse and made the space around him hot. The ground blackened and the soil charred. Vacuse shivered as he felt something tighten around him. "Rith?" Rith’s voice came to him. ’...well... I don’t think we can get out of this one easily...’ Vacuse finally saw what had been shielding him. It was a dark translucent shield that covered him like a dome. But at the moment, the dome was cracking. Fuck. He gritted his teeth. "What are we going to do, Rith?" But before Rith could reply, the entity opened even more of its eyes and a low light shone in it. The light flashed out of the eyes and struck the shield with a cracking sound. The shield shuddered and shattered. And immediately... Vacuse felt the full weight of the entity. His bones quaked and his insides quivered. His flesh shivered, and it looked as if it would be torn to shreds in the next seconds. Hurriedly, Rith threw out another shield, a smaller one that blocked some of the force, but at the same time, the effects were already there. Vacuse fell to his knees, his eyes tight with burning pain as if they would shatter. Blood fell from his nose and he trembled. Crack! The whole attention from the entity was entirely focused on him, and the force was like a hurricane. Rith’s second shield was cracking and the entity seemed to be opening its eyes even more. ’...the blood! Bring out the blood of the Blood Dragon...’ Rith shouted in his mind. Vacuse answered without hesitation. He lifted his hand and forced himself to send energy running down his hands and into the ring that glittered. A light shot out of the ring, and at the same time, Rith appeared around him with his tail coiled and his mouth opened. The blood of the Blood Dragon instantly shot into his mouth and he clamped his mouth shut against it. The reaction was almost instant. There was a slight pause and Vacuse thought nothing was going to happen, but then his soul space boiled and power rolled through him with such intensity that he gasped. Massive amounts of power made him tremble. The power was such that he felt it shook his bones and his skin looked as if it would explode the next moment. He greedily wanted to suck the power into his core and make it his own, but Rith wasn’t having any of it. The Void Dragon’s hand tightened on his shoulder, claws digging in, and then his power was getting instantly sucked into Rith. Vacuse struggled to hold himself back. His eyes glittered coldly, but he didn’t fight the Void Dragon. Rith took all the power in his soul space in an instant and turned around. He didn’t face the entity. Instead, he focused on the empty space behind him and opened his mouth wide. A ball of darkness instantly flew out, and immediately it did, the surrounding air quivered and shook. The ground trembled and empty space warped and twisted around the black ball that Rith spat out. A crack sounded as empty space shattered like a mirror, and a feeling of danger swept the surroundings. Darkness spilled out from the cracked space and seeped into the world. Vacuse found it familiar, and he turned to Rith. "What did you do?" ’...I summoned my real self... part of my real self...’ The next moment, a snout of black scales pressed against the rift. Vacuse could see that it wasn’t real, more of a projection, but the power that flowed from it was real. The entity sensed what was happening and turned toward the snout, but at the same time, it began to retreat hurriedly. But it was too late. The snout opened its mouth and roared. But no sound came out. At least no sound that Vacuse could hear. But he sensed the way the air stiffened. And a crushing force passed overhead. The force slammed into the entity and the entity exploded into chunks of flesh and rust-blood. Vacuse watched in shock as the snout retreated as if it was never there. At the same moment, the chunk of flesh from the entity shot toward the shrine, but Rith flew forward and caught a finger in his mouth. The shrine shuddered, and as they watched, it disappeared from where it was, leaving a large crater behind. The heavy pressure disappeared and everything returned to normal. It was as if nothing had happened at all. Vacuse took a deep breath to clear away the shock he was feeling. "What the hell?"
