Chapter 62: Cheaters!

Chapter 62: Cheaters! You know it’s bad when even D-29 was dead silent. And it wasn’t just the little system that was like that. The crowd that had gathered around the perimeter dared not speak. Their faces reflected the shock that had to be swallowed back. The silence was deafening and quite alarming. It was to the point that one could hear a pin drop, and Kyle knew it was now or never. Technically, he wasn’t lying—God save his ass, but he was saying it in a way that would definitely be misinterpreted. She was a romantic, and in his mind, the only way to block her was to make it look like she was about to ruin an existing relationship. He would probably die after this, but that trade agreement allowed her such freedom. And there was no way he could ship any of these two people. Maybe he could suggest she take Jax, but this buffoon would probably be returned within the day. That particular morning, Kyle and Ollie seemed to be functioning with one shared brain cell. Ideally, Kyle only placed his Captain and Luca inside a coffin, but it was still relatively open for interpretation. However, Ollie nailed them in. At least in Kyle’s mind, he wouldn’t have the worst punishment, right? "Uhm, Princess Kira, you see, he’s not really lying." Ollie knew he wasn’t like Kyle, who would survive against a windblade, so he immediately prefaced it by saying that he would show her something if it were okay with her. Princess Kira glowered but let Ollie show her whatever it was. She was curious about how they planned to lie their way through this. But then she saw it. It was a photo of the same people who were lying to her, but this time, they were embracing. The short one was nestled in the arms of the hot one while his arms wrapped around the short one’s waist. Now, this was a still picture. If she had seen the actual video, she would’ve known how Xavier was actually about to lift him up like a sack to run to the infirmary. But this photo was the one that was specifically cut by the girls. Ollie managed to see this when a female classmate kept gushing about their ideal couples. Only for him to see his brother with that terrifying bully. The photo was actually kept to be shown to Luca so he could ask if he wanted it erased from the forums, but Ollie never thought that it would be instrumental in keeping them alive. This was for his brother and for the economy. Actually, around them, several male students who didn’t particularly like Luca were about to refute Ollie and Kyle, but Noah interfered, telling them to shut it because it had political consequences. Most people thought it was a logical argument and opted to just listen. But in Noah’s mind, he just invented something that would silence these people. He wasn’t about to exalt Luca, but if he could do something but didn’t, his conscience wouldn’t let him live it down. But he knew he wouldn’t be able to fight off an Orc, much less an angry one. And she was exactly that. The Princess saw the photo and was immediately filled with rage at its sweetness. Since she still thought one of them was her fiancé, she was just shown evidence of cheating. "You dare cheat on me!" Her eyes were now nearly entirely red, and she suddenly directed her anger and wind abilities toward Luca and Xavier. Luca realized she was going to attack and tried blocking the attack for both of them. Ideally, it should work because he could use his energy, but he was suddenly pulled behind Xavier, who stood before the windblade without flinching. The onlookers were obviously scared, and even Luca panicked because he couldn’t see anything. However, Xavier looked like he didn’t do anything, and yet the attack dispersed before it reached him—like it was sucked out of existence. Xavier couldn’t understand what the little one was thinking when he tried blocking that attack for him. However, seeing him do it without hesitation lowered his vigilance and suspicion unconsciously. But this proportionally increased his protective instincts, especially after seeing how much of a Daredevil this chipmunk was. Luca wanted to see why everyone was gasping, and in awe, the little gossiper was too short and could only pop out from Xavier’s back. "What’s your problem? Stay there and be good." "But, I can’t see... I also want to see." Luca said, his face in a slight pout, and Xavier had to stop his eyes from rolling. Where do you find someone who still wants to see when there is an active danger around him? Well, clearly, this chipmunk thinks differently. Normally, Xavier would scold him, but his expression made him relent and just fished out the guy from behind him, only to place him directly between his arms. "If you want to see, you better behave and stay where I can protect you." Luca couldn’t understand why he needed to be protected and was about to protest when D-29 finally reacted. "Host! What about trying to whittle out the corruption in your roommate’s body while you’re this close to him." "!" Luca almost forgot about that and was now distracted by something more important than his reputation, politics, and accusations of cheating. Luca was now filled with the thoughts of ka-ching ka-ching! With a timing that had always been so wrong, Luca grabbed onto Xavier’s waist just as another attack was launched towards them. Xavier’s defense didn’t falter, but what faltered were his knees when he felt the chipmunk attaching himself to him. To everyone else, it looked like he was afraid of the attack and taking shelter in Xavier’s arms, but it was only Xavier who recognized the same phenomenon. But this time, instead of pushing the little guy away, he kept him there. Now, wanting to fully observe what he was actually doing to him. With these two people distracted and very sticky, the women were seriously typing at the fastest speed they could. Videos were also being taken, and the stills were undoubtedly of the best quality. Frankly, Ollie and Kyle knew that they were spewing bullshit, and yet now that they were watching these two people, they couldn’t help but question each other with their eyes. Was this superb acting, or did they seriously miss something important? While they were thinking so hard about this, Jax didn’t need much time to accept things. In his simple brain, the guy already managed to re-arrange the hierarchy of the people around him. It seems like they were right in thinking that their Captain preferred men over women. After years of seeing him reject every woman since childhood. Seeing him this sticky with anyone cemented it all for Jax. Well, at least their leader’s wife was brave enough to protect the captain, even if he was like a small animal. The misunderstandings were pouring in from everywhere, and the Princess was not excluded from it. When she saw how the shorter one dove into the arms of the hottie, her heart suddenly thumped. And now that she’s seeing him envelop the golden-eyed cutie, she felt like attacking more to make him tighten that grip around him. Princess Kira’s motivation slowly changed. Not once did these two change the way they looked at her. But the moment Shortie clung to that guy, his face softened as if he liked that very much. Her romantic heart was very torn. She wanted them for herself, but she liked seeing them huddled together, too. When two humans were in love, it apparently looked like that in person. Of course, it was Xavier’s fault for not schooling his facial expression. But who would be able to do it when he could actively feel the shrinking size of the corruption within his body? Not to mention how this Chipmunk’s touch felt rather comfortable. Maybe a bit too comfortable. Because by the time several instructors opened the door that the princess locked with her wind abilities, Luca had again slackened in Xavier’s arms. He was about to carry him like last time, but Kyle was making gestures from behind the princess, and if he was right, it was to make sure he didn’t carry him like a sack. It’ll ruin the image. Right about now, he was supposedly doting on the chipmunk. Xavier re-arranged Luca in his arms before running out to escape the marriage with this Princess.
