Chapter 159: Blocked! While Luca was this close to hyperventilating about this sudden display of wealth for such unnecessary spending, there was one who preferred to encourage it. Xavier was fine with the Imperial household spending on these products because he was sure about the quality. Two, this was the least they could do for someone who would be the backbone of this Empire. It was just that he noticed the Butler’s expression. Had he been using sanctioned Imperial funds, the normally poised Butler wouldn’t look a little green in the face. Hmm. But there was no other choice as the bidding for these ten sets looked like it would take far longer than expected. That was until Duke Leander issued an ultimatum. "It’s been a long time, and I feel like we’ve saved enough funds back home." He said with a wry smile directed at the nobles who had the same determined stance. "I was thinking of getting the one that was opened as a sign of goodwill." "In fact, there would be no need for me to bid for the others if you gentlemen would allow this old timer this boon." But he really wanted to compete for everything. This disgruntled father wasn’t even kidding when he said they saved enough funds from the minimal operations they had to do over the past decade. However, his son would likely not want that, as the precious boy would likely prefer emptying the pockets of others. But the son actually only wanted to make a scratch, not bankrupt people! The little money grubber who felt like he was grabbing a chunk of people’s assets was horrified at how much each meal set was going for! After his father indirectly backed everyone into a corner, safely securing the first roasted chicken set for a whopping 3.2 billion, Luca felt like bawling. 3.2 billion?! An S-grade mecha! However, the Duke actually got a bargain. The major players with multiple planets under their belts started increasing the bids as the most prominent families got one. From 5 billion, the 9th meal set was around 15 billion. By the time the huffing and puffing Earl, who owned the Empire’s biggest casinos, had won a set, the price was already at 17 billion. They were desperate! Because the Imperial Butler hadn’t made a move to bid yet! But they wouldn’t have died trying to get the ninth meal set if they had known his situation. It was because the Princess only had 17.7 billion left. And if he bid earlier, he might have to engage against these moguls who surely had more than the baby Princess’ 17.7 billion! So, he was hoping for the 10th meal set and was just about to bid when a person who came out of nowhere bid 17.8 billion. NOOO! It was a definite blow, as he only missed it by 100 million! Had he gone first, then most would have opted not to contend with the Crown! But he couldn’t even put in a bet because his upper limit was below the guy’s initial bid! Butler Henry indeed despaired but looked calm on the outside. He hoped that the little Princess wouldn’t be too sad. There was the sandwich and the Chips; maybe those would be enough, provided the Princess didn’t hear about the main attraction. But none of this was by chance, as Jax bid from below the stands. Kyle couldn’t do it as everyone would know one of the Minister’s sons. So, Jax was asked to bid starting from 17 billion, which was Xavier’s estimate of what his younger sister would have if she saved all of her monthly stipends. However, this was Jax. And the redhead had golden hands. Immediately took out the strongest competitor when he bid 17.8 billion. Honestly, the other attendees would’ve bought had they not been too absorbed in staring at the Imperial box to realize that the bidding had been won! A solo bid and the fastest win—something that only the likes of Jackson Taylor could accomplish. But the hard hustler wasn’t bidding for himself. He was asked to inform a certain despairing Butler to wait for the paid goods that were to be delivered to one Imperial Princess. Jax came by with a hood and frankly looked suspicious to the already despondent old man, but then the young man called out, "Old Hen!" Only a few people would have the gall to call him that, and he was surprised to see one of them here. "You!" "Shhh!" Jax motioned, needing to return back as soon as possible. The Butler was surprised to see Jax waiting for him and almost wanted to drag the once-young slacker to interrogate him about the Crown Prince! "About that, Old Hen! I was told to give you the set meal, so please wait for me!" Huh? "Wait?! Don’t tell me it was you who bid on the last set?!" Chastised the Butler, who watched this boy turn into the giant that he was today. And Jax could only grin as he nodded! "Don’t send it back to me! Because I was asked to buy these to have them sent over to you know who!" mouthed the Butler, who was trying to avoid the people with enhanced hearing. "But that’s just it. I was told to tell you that there was no need to do that. It’s all fine. Tell her to enjoy it!" Jax said with an okay sign. In fact, he wanted to say to eat the salad slowly as certain tomato children have been sacrificed for it but thought that it might scare off one actual child. So, Jax just grinned as he escaped for the claiming area. The Butler, who had just been left dumbfounded, wanted to ask about so many things! What did he mean by it’s all fine?! And enjoy? Thankfully, the confused Butler managed to get himself back into the hovercraft and into the Imperial Palace before a test of willpower broke out inside the Auction House. And at the center of it were several people who opened their Banana Chip bags only to find something that was bound to cause a scene!
