Chapter 147: Caught Red-Handed It was a splendid day in the space, as usual. The three elders were diligently tending to their chores when a sudden wailing and release of energy almost detached their fragile bones. For a moment, they thought someone had died, and maybe they weren’t that off the mark. Right now, five young men were kneeling on the ground with their arms raised, while one Duke had been forced to rest on a creaky couch with an icepack on his forehead. But why? It was unfortunate to be caught very red-handed, especially when it was so red that one must’ve been painted with solid evidence. Luca, who was as red as their best tomatoes, evidenced that. Jax was very curious as to why the Captain wasn’t even saying anything and just kneeled first. Actually, none of them were supposed to be kneeling, as the Duke didn’t really ask for it. But all of a sudden, their Captain decided to do just that. And the others who weren’t sure of what to do in front of the suddenly ailing Duke just followed suit. This time, Xavier was willing to kneel for probably the entire day if needed because, this time, it was his pot that he had to carry. A first, given everything that had happened. It’s just that maybe it wasn’t right to kneel because the chipmunk followed dazedly. And now even the shorty had to kneel on the solid ground. Xavier couldn’t even blame the Duke for reacting like that; they weren’t exactly decent when he arrived. But it wasn’t as bad as before they got close enough to be heard. And that’s saying a lot because the Duke would’ve ended up far worse had he gotten there a few seconds earlier. Luca never thought guiding could be like that. If he ignored everything else, which was challenging in itself, then he’d say it felt like he could get drunk on it. While he’d never tried alcohol, he’d seen drunk people in shows, and he felt similar. The little chipmunk was insanely wobbly after that testing session. While he wasn’t sure if they had high enough compatibility due to the lack of comparison, he didn’t feel much resistance from Xavier. All he just needed to do was to remember to guide actively. He kept on forgetting because so many things were happening all at once, and Xavier hadn’t taught him how to breathe through it. Even now, the little chipmunk wondered how Xavier could hold it all in. And thought that if he could just learn to do the same, then he’d be able to get that much pure energy. And it was really pure. Luca wasn’t sure why his core readily accepted the energy from Xavier, but it did. And it seems like it’s because this energy had already been appropriated. There was no need to assimilate the energy he got from the Crown Prince. That energy didn’t have to be circulated once it was ingested or pulled, unlike what happens when using spiritual fruits or the energy in his space. It felt like instant gratification. And Luca was almost addicted. Was this why everyone wanted to have their own bonded partner? But what about Xavier? Luca wasn’t sure if he had sucked out everything from Xavier and kept eyeing him the moment he woke up from being too dazed. Xavier noticed how Luca was making eyes at him but by now realized that he’d just better ask later. For interpreting it now with his own assumptions would just make him think that Luca was infatuated with him. Which would be a lie, well, in part. Because it was rather obvious how the little chipmunk was addicted to guiding him. And it didn’t help that it was very difficult to resist him once the little dragon got his grubby hands out. In fact, by the time he realized what was happening, Xavier had to abandon his plans to educate Luca about marital activities. What would likely be needed was a lesson on self-control. Or he was going to break down before his kidneys even got their turn to be used. And this time, Xavier was right, for one little chipmunk was actually filled with thoughts of making more food to feed his newly repurposed generator. If he prepared the benefactor with the best of everything, wouldn’t he have more spare energy to share? However, the Duke saw the giggling face of his money-grubbing son, who was actually just thinking of fattening up his energy piglet. But for the Duke, who saw a wild scene (not) that had to be bleeped in his memories, it felt like he had lost his son before they even got the chance to play with Battleships. It was devastating. However, if anything was really devastating, it was the three other students who didn’t get to enjoy activities and had to kneel down for the sake of camaraderie. A camaraderie so fragile that it disappeared the moment they all saw the dinner spread prepared by Luca. The eggheads would likely be kneeling until who-knows-when had Luca not remembered their school and the fact that his father would have to leave the school grounds soon. So, he managed to pout his way to get up to prepare food, which shocked the three people from the House of Kyros. But really, this was just shock that was belatedly expressed. The moment they found their Young Lord alive and relatively well, they finally started to lose their beast blinders. And from there, they could only be in awe at this place. So, it was definitely a treat to watch their exclamation as they found out about the owner of this space. "Is this true, my son?" The Duke asked, dumbfounded, as he belatedly realized how everything they’d been munching on wasn’t just bought by his boy but was actually grown by him. Blood, sweat, and tears. Obviously, the Duke was touched. Then, he grimaced as he thought about how many people his good son had to feed with his little hands. Maybe they needed a purge back at the duchy, no? Duke Leander finally understood why that blue-haired student was adamant about stopping the others from coming and belatedly admired his courage to face possible death or civil war. It was a shame that he had already broken up with his son’s best friend. But since they all seem to still be friends, maybe today’s youth are just more adventurous. And such youth were so adventurous and brave that they dared fight with the Duke over the steaks cooked by his one and only son. It was a bloodbath, as the elders were suddenly surrounded by young bloods who weren’t too concerned about respecting the not-so-elderly. And by the time they finished dinner, Steward Han had really thought about taking up combat training. There was no way it could go on like this. Not when it was impossible to eat well with all those extra strong hands. And especially not once their Lords proceeded with their newly hatched plan. What would he, a regular logistics personnel, do against the duchy’s army? Obviously, he needed training. For they were soon planning to find a way to divert everyone’s attention. It’s just that they obviously had to get the Duke away from his son. "Your Grace, the staff had sent us a message about the gate closing for the third time." Reminded Butler Gary, who really understood the Duke’s desire to just stay here. "Now, we understand that you don’t want to leave yet, but the students need to go back to their dorms, or they will miss curfew. And the Young Lord may lose points for being late!" That worked.
