Chapter 92: Fire of desire Augustine cursed under his breath. This was torture. The way she looked at him, the way she unknowingly provoked him—it was more than he could take. "This is crazy," he muttered, his restraint hanging by a thread. His muscles flexed, his breathing uneven. Then, abruptly, he issued a stern command, "Gustave, stop the car and get out." Gustave pulled the car to the side of the road and jumped out, shutting the door behind him. He didn’t look back, didn’t question anything. Augustine wasted no time. He pressed Anne against the seat, his lips crashing onto hers with unrestrained hunger. His hand traced the smooth curve of her shoulder, relishing the warmth of her skin before sliding lower, finding the soft swell of her chest. Anne tensed. A sudden wave of unease washed over her, her stomach churning violently. A strangled sound escaped her lips as she shoved against his chest with surprising force. Caught off guard, Augustine barely had time to react before she tore herself away from him. In a blur, she fumbled with the door handle, flinging it open and stumbling out. The moment her feet hit the ground, she lurched forward, retching uncontrollably as her stomach emptied onto the pavement. Augustine sat motionless in his place, his breath still heavy, his body still burning with the heat of the moment. His lips parted slightly, yet no words came out, shock evident on his face. This was definitely not how he had expected it to go. Augustine quickly regained his composure and stepped out of the car. He spotted Anne hunched over, her hands braced on her knees as she struggled to steady herself. Her breaths came in shallow gasps after vomiting, and her heavy eyelids flickered as though she was fighting to stay conscious. With a sigh, he pulled a handkerchief from his pocket and gently wiped her mouth. "You really are a handful," he muttered. Anne groaned in response, barely able to keep her eyes open. Augustine wrapped an arm around her waist, supporting her as he guided her back into the car. She slumped against him, her head resting heavily on his shoulder. By the time they reached home, she was fast asleep. Augustine glanced down at her peaceful face, a stark contrast to the teasing, intoxicating woman she had been just moments ago. He swallowed hard, his desire still simmering beneath his skin. "You stirred my desire up," he muttered. "And now you’re fast asleep. Do you even realize how much you torment me?" Carefully, he scooped her into his arms and carried her inside. He laid her on the bed, removed her shoes, and tucked the blanket around her. She stirred slightly, murmuring something incoherent before sinking deeper into slumber. Augustine exhaled sharply, glancing at Anne’s peaceful face, completely unaware of the turmoil she had left him in. His body was still burning from earlier, his mind replaying the feel of her lips, the warmth of her skin, and the softness of her breast against his palm. "Unbelievable," he grumbled under his breath, running a hand through his hair. "You drive me insane, tease me, push me to the edge... and then just pass out like nothing happened." He yanked at his tie, heat still pulsing through his veins. "Damn it, Anne. You have no idea what you do to me." Shooting her one last exasperated look, he turned and walked to the bathroom. "I must be out of my mind to put up with this," he muttered as he turned on the shower. The cold water hit his skin like ice, but it did little to extinguish the heat consuming him. He closed his eyes, letting the water run over him, knowing that tonight, he would get no relief. ~~~~~~~ Denis rushed into the airport with anticipation in his heart. This was his last chance to meet the president. His eyes scanned the terminal until they landed on the man in the grey suit, striding toward the entrance with his assistant. "Mr. Benett, wait," Denis called out, breaking into a sprint. Before he could get any closer, a pair of security personnel stepped in, blocking his path. "You can’t go beyond this point," one of them stated firmly. "I just need a moment. Just a few minutes to speak with him," Denis argued, trying to push forward. A strong hand shoved him back. "Stay back. If you cause any more trouble, we’ll have no choice but to detain you." Denis ground his teeth, frustration boiling inside him. But he knew he had no choice—forcing his way through would only make things worse. He stood frozen, helplessly watching as the president moved forward. The commotion had drawn a crowd. People stopped to stare, some whispering among themselves while others shot him judgmental glances. Even the man in the grey suit briefly glanced over his shoulder just before going beyond the entrance. Denis’s pulse spiked with hope. He quickly raised his hand, waving desperately, willing the president to acknowledge him. But it was futile. The man turned away and continued walking. Denis felt the weight of disappointment crash over him. His last chance had slipped through his fingers. "You’ve caused enough trouble," the guard snapped. "Leave now." Shoulders slumping in defeat, Denis turned and walked away with frustration and regret. Inside the hotel room... The room was filled with the lingering echoes of pleasure, the air heavy with the scent of sweat and sex. Tania lay beneath Enzo, her body still trembling from the intensity of her orgasm. His final, deep thrust sent a shudder through her before he collapsed beside her, breathless and spent. Staring up at the ceiling, his chest rising and falling with each labored breath, Enzo let out a satisfied groan. "I missed this. Every night, I thought of you—of us. We were perfect together." Turning his head, he studied her. A frown crept onto his face as doubt settled in. "Why did you come back? Or... have you stopped wanting me?" Tania kept her expression composed. She had her own reason for coming back, but it was a secret she wouldn’t reveal to anyone. She traced slow, deliberate patterns on Enzo’s bare chest. "You need to be patient, Enzo," she murmured, her tone silky and persuasive. "I have to get closer to Denis, earn his full trust. Once I marry him, the Beaumont fortune will be in my hands. Then, one by one, I’ll eliminate every obstacle in the family, and everything will belong to us. Our children will inherit it all." Enzo’s skeptical gaze bore into her, his brow arching. "Are you serious? This sounds like a fantasy." "Why else would I be doing this?" she countered sharply. "Do you think I love Denis? If I did, why would I have left him three years ago?" She let out a low chuckle, her fingers still teasing his skin. "I went after him for a reason. He was the rich, popular guy, and I wanted to see just how serious he was about me. I left, and even after three years, he is still desperate for me." Enzo didn’t believe it. He remembered their last conversation too well. "But didn’t you tell me he wasn’t ready to marry you?
