Chapter 215: An untouched land The next morning, Augustine stirred before the sun had fully risen. Beside him, Anne lay tangled in the sheets, her hair cascading across the pillow like dark silk. He leaned down and pressed a kiss to her bare shoulder. "Wake up, sweetheart," he murmured into her skin. "I’ll take you somewhere." "Mmm... where?" she asked, voice rough with sleep. "I have another surprise for you." Her lashes fluttered open. "Another one? Are you trying to spoil me completely?" "That’s the plan," he said, letting his thumb trace the curve of her collarbone. "Now get up. The yacht will dock any time." She groaned in protest, but he pulled her gently upright. "Go freshen up. We’ll leave after breakfast." Anne padded toward the bathroom. By late morning, the yacht drifted to a smooth halt, its sleek hull brushing up against the wooden dock. Augustine and Anne stepped ashore. The sun poured gold over the coastline, making the sea shimmer and turning the sand into a field of light. Palm trees swayed slowly in the breeze. It was a paradise untouched, arranged by Lucien. The island was completely uninhabited, wild, and brimming with life. Thick jungle framed the beach, stretching deep into the island’s heart. The air carried the earthy scent of moss and flowers. "What is this place?" Anne asked, taking in the surroundings. "This is an untouched land full of nature’s beauty," he leaned slightly to her and whispered, "and you will love the hot spring here." Her face lit up. "Hot spring?" "Come on." He laced his fingers with hers. "Let’s explore." Augustine led Anne along a narrow, winding path that led them through palm groves and flowering vines until they reached a cabana nestled in the trees. It was simple but elegant: white canvas drapes tied to thick bamboo posts, soft cushions piled on a daybed, and a tray of chilled fruit and champagne waiting under a small canopy. Just beyond the cabana, steam curled from the surface of a natural hot spring, partially hidden by tropical plants and smooth stones. The crystal-clear water bubbled gently. Anne gasped. "Is it real? It’s not man-made, is it?" "It’s natural, and it’s just for us." Augustine interlaced his fingers with hers and whispered, "Let’s not waste a second." "Let’s go in." With a grin, Anne began to undress, letting her clothes fall away until only her bra and panties remained. She stepped into the spring slowly, letting the heat wrap around her. The contrast between the warm water and the soft ocean breeze was perfect. She leaned back against the stone ledge, eyes closed, shoulders sinking. Her breath slowed. Augustine joined her, the water swirling as he moved closer. He drew her to him in the water, her legs wrapping around his waist instinctively. They kissed, slowly and teasingly. "I don’t want to get out of here," Anne murmured, her lips brushing his. "You don’t have to," he said, his hand skimming the water. "If you get hungry, there is a cottage a few kilometers inland. We are staying there tonight." "A cottage? In the middle of nowhere?" She raised an eyebrow. "I thought this place was untouched." "Nothing is impossible for me," he said with a teasing smile. Anne laughed softly, her fingers tracing his jaw. "Show-off. It’s Lucien, right?" That man had arranged the yacht, and she was certain this island was also arranged by him. Augustine gave a dramatic pout. "You wound me. Can’t a man get a little credit?" Anne smiled, slipping her arms around his neck. "No, I’m not giving the credit to anyone else. It’s because of you I’m here. Because of you, I’m in this beautiful spring, feeling like I’m the only woman in the world." Satisfied, Augustine kissed her. His hands tightened around her waist, pulling her closer as their kiss deepened. Their hunger for each other returned like a tide. He carried her from the water to the lounge bed, both of them dripping, flushed, and breathless. Her wet hair clung to her back as he peeled off her remaining clothes, and she did the same to him, trembling under his touch. "You are so beautiful," he murmured, eyes devouring her. "And you are mine." Their bodies met again, this time with less restraint than the night before. On the edge of the world, under the open sky, they gave in to the fire between them. Anne gasped as he moved inside her, his pace unhurried, yet relentless. The wind swept through the sheer curtains, wrapping them in nature’s veil as moans and sighs filled the air. Once they finished, they lay in the open-air bed wrapped in nothing but a soft blanket and each other. Augustine traced his fingers lazily along her spine, their legs entangled. "What are you thinking?" he asked. She stared at the horizon. "Nothing... Just that this trip feels unreal. Like if I blink, I’ll wake up." He pressed a kiss to the top of her head. "It’s not a dream. And I promise you this—trips like this won’t be once in a lifetime. I’ll make sure of it." They lingered on the lounge bed, lost in each other. The half-empty bottle of champagne sat in the ice bucket. Anne picked at the fruit, feeding Augustine a grape between soft laughter. Their voices were low, their joy unguarded, thinking they were alone in the jungle. But they were not. Just beyond the line of palm and brush, partially hidden by tall grass, a figure knelt in silence. He kept low, camouflaged, a pair of high-powered binoculars in his hands. He scanned the cabana, pausing when his lens landed on the man reclining beside the woman. He stiffened. "Why is it he?" He twisted the focus wheel to sharpen the view. The face became unmistakable. "It’s him." He ducked slightly lower and pulled out a phone, thumbing in a number quickly. "The information was wrong," he said in a hushed voice. "It’s not Lucien. It’s the devil and his woman." There was a long pause on the other end. Then a deep voice crackled through the phone. "Even better. Don’t kill them. I want them alive. Lucien will move heaven and hell for that bastard. And when he does, we’ll have both." The man nodded, lips pressed into a tight line. "Understood, boss." He ended the call and immediately relayed the update through a secure radio to his team, hiding deeper in the foliage. "Change of plans. It’s not Lucien. Prepare for extraction. We take them alive."
