Anne took a slow sip of her drink, unimpressed. Tania’s smile widened. "And why wouldn’t he? I’m carrying his child." Anne nearly laughed. ’Liar.’ She remained calm, refusing to give Tania the reaction she was so obviously fishing for. That silence, that indifference—it grated on Tania’s nerves. "Are you threatening me?" She jumped to her feet. Anne simply shrugged. "Not at all. Just giving you a little warning." She nodded toward the glass on the table Tania had brought. "You are pregnant, yet you are drinking wine. Aren’t you worried about harming your child? And those stilettoes—way too high for someone in your condition. I’m just saying... if anything happens to the baby, your dream of becoming a Beaumont will shatter." Tania’s jaw clenched, but Anne wasn’t done. She flashed an arrogant smile. "But me? His frown deepened, curiosity burning in his chest. He craned his neck, trying to get a glimpse of the person commanding such deference.
