Chapter 86: Righteous Savior

Words : 1076 Updated : Oct 2nd, 2025
Chapter 86: Righteous Savior "Are you Psionics from Rock Sand City?" The seven looked up, pupils shrinking, faces going white. A masked figure appeared, slowly walking toward them. Behind him, purple skeleton monsters kept emerging, respectfully surrounding him like a king on a royal procession. The Psionics felt enormous physical and mental pressure, lowering their heads, not daring to look him in the eye. "These terrifying monsters are actually this masked man’s lackeys!!!" "Which faction is this? Human or traitor?" "What should we do?" "..." Captain Lezhe was panicked and confused, his expression grim. For a moment, he didn’t know how to answer to save himself and the others. Carlos walked up to them, examining their clothing with puzzlement in his tone. "Aren’t you Psionics from Rock Sand City?" This rhetorical question made the Psionics flat on the ground think Carlos was getting impatient. Captain Lezhe quickly looked up: "My lord! We are Psionics from Rock Sand City!" Under the mask, Carlos looked puzzled, not because of the answer, but because these Psionics lying on the ground, respectfully and carefully looking up to answer him, looked downright weird. Carlos looked down at them, reading deep fear in their expressions and eyes. ’Probably spooked by the shield guards, which is why they look so scared.’ After thinking briefly, he understood the current situation. This wouldn’t do. He was clearly a righteous savior—how could he be misunderstood like this? "Stand up." An unquestionable voice came from under the mask. "?" The Psionics lying on the ground looked at each other, not understanding what this meant, but still helped each other stand up. Once they stood, their nasty wounds appeared before Carlos’s eyes. Especially the middle-aged man who had answered several times—those bloody holes made Carlos’s heart heavy. "Everyone sit." A table and stone stools appeared on the ground. A Purple Thornblade Shield Guard piled sand to prop up the lower table legs, while another skillfully began pouring tea. "This..." Carlos’s request made them vaguely feel that this terrifying lord seemed to belong to their human faction. Their hearts relaxed a bit, but their behavior remained extremely respectful as they carefully took seats. Even Sibel, the most carefree in the team, now sat like a proper lady on the stone stool. However, since the lower table legs were propped up with sand piles, the table surface was level, but the stone stools remained the same. So at the bottom, the shortest Loris had the table almost reaching her neck. She was internally wrestling with whether to suggest changing positions or raising the stool herself. Her other companions noticed Loris’s awkwardness, but being still in mortal danger, they didn’t dare make any requests. "Don’t be nervous. I’m a Psionic from Ember City, currently hunting down human traitors. I happened to run into you." Carlos, positioned at the highest spot, spoke with some comfort, his tone friendly. Carlos’s words made the Psionics below go wild. "Ember City!" "My... my lord! Which lord from Ember City are you?" "Thank you so much!" "..." They didn’t doubt Carlos was lying... at this point, what good would it do to deceive them? Seeing the excited reactions of the Psionics below, with some even reopening their wounds, Carlos said helplessly: "First patch up your injuries. If you don’t have enough alchemical healing potions, I can sell you a bottle." As he spoke, a beautifully crafted alchemical healing potion appeared on the table. Demi, who was sharp-eyed and loved alchemy, immediately spotted the golden patterns on the bottle. She exclaimed: "This... this is actually a Golden Pattern Healing Potion with the best healing effects on the market!" "Sister Demi, what’s a Golden Pattern Healing Potion?" Taking advantage of this opportunity, Loris secretly stood up, escaping the ’short’ stool. Noticing that the ’lord’ above wasn’t paying attention to her, she sighed with relief. "Golden Pattern Healing Potions are top-shelf potions that only circulate among the upper nobility of city-states. Just this one bottle can restore all our injuries within half a day!" The well-informed Captain Lezhe spoke slowly, carefully looking at Carlos while wondering which big shot this could be. "What! So effective!" Knowing that the masked man before them belonged to the human faction and had saved them, Sibel could no longer keep up her ladylike act and asked carelessly: "So precious! Can we afford it?" "..." The teammates looked at each other, having a rough idea of everyone’s financial situation. Silence... silence... Carlos’s mouth twitched. ’Oops, lived the life of a big shot too long and forgot about ordinary Psionics’ money situation outside.’ But Carlos still wanted to help them recover from their injuries. After all, he wouldn’t have time to escort them later. This group of beat-up people had trouble even walking. Carlos suspected that if they hadn’t met him, even if they luckily escaped, they would probably bite it at the hands of other monster groups. "You can trade with items. Given your current condition, only by healing your injuries can you safely leave the Desolate Desert." Even if Carlos gave it to them for free, they probably wouldn’t take it. They had to pay a fair price. This was one of the principles that humanity had believed in throughout countless eras: you don’t get something for nothing! "Barter?" What Carlos said was spot-on. Their current state was awful. Any random accident would probably wipe them out completely. The Psionics understood this and were touched. This kind lord before them was deliberately helping them out. Otherwise, how could they trade for such a top-tier healing potion? Captain Lezhe took out several rare ores, crude beast fangs, and even removed his glove spirit gear, placing them on the table. "Everyone, put out the valuable things you have." "This is my treasure." Sibel followed immediately, heartbroken as she took out arrows of various colors, a pile of brightly colored fruits, and a spirit gear longbow. The others also took out all their possessions—similar things like spirit gear, medicinal materials, ores, bones, etc. Soon the table was packed with various items, including even a small sand dog doll... From Loris’s watery, reluctant eyes, you could see this small sand dog doll meant the world to her. Carlos looked and had only one thought: "What is all this junk?" These were all things he wouldn’t even bother picking up off the street. "Uto!" Suddenly, from the ’junk pile,’ the big eye sleeping on the disc woke up.
