Chapter 226: Carlos Gets Manhandled
Carlos’s heart sank.
’...Isn’t this a bit much?’
He felt bad for the security officer.
Come to think of it,
Your timing really sucked.
You could’ve shown up any other time, but you picked now.
Don’t you know sis is steamed?
Carlos got it
Security Officer Willie was eating the brunt of his sister’s fury in his place.
Trying to buy himself a chance to get a word in.
"Sis~mmph~ter~, li~sten~mmph~ to~mmph~ my~mmph~ side~mmph~ of~mmph~ things~mmph~!"
But Carlos, getting his cheeks worked over, could barely string two words together.
Iris wasn’t budging:
"Hah, your side?
Did sis come here to listen to your excuses?"
"???"
Do you hear yourself right now?
Didn’t you just ask me to explain?
Carlos felt his cheeks constantly getting squished into new shapes.
Bullshit!
All bullshit!
His eyes were full of pure helplessness.
Seeing her brother starting to get pouty, Iris immediately backed off:
"Alright,
It’s just messing with your cheeks a little.
I remember when you were little,
You loved getting your cheeks pinched."
Her tone was all nostalgic.
Carlos’s eye twitched.
That was love?
That was me fighting for my life!
When I was little, you never let me get a word in edgewise!
Suddenly,
Carlos’s expression almost cracked.
Seeing this,
Iris gently pulled Carlos into a hug:
"Okay, okay,
I know you’re all grown up now.
In front of strangers, sis won’t embarrass you anymore."
"..."
Why did those words sound like total horseshit?
Carlos glanced at the miserably sealed ’stranger,’ figuring plenty more would be joining him soon.
"Sis,
Hear me out—
This time I really wasn’t going off half-cocked."
Carlos started defending himself. He knew
This time sis might not let him off easy.
Speaking,
His eyes looked up, pointing to his forehead.
"Demigod guidance again?"
Iris’s eyes narrowed:
"Carlos, don’t you think the demigod’s guidance is happening way too often?"
Carlos’s face went stiff, then he said matter-of-factly:
"Is it?
Sis, do you know anything about other demigod marks?"
"..."
Iris had nothing. There weren’t many records about demigod marks.
She really didn’t know if her brother’s current situation was weird or not.
Putting that aside for now:
"But even with demigod guidance,
Don’t you think it was way too risky?
Sis knows
You went solo
To wipe out the Golden Sand Society!
Way too ballsy!"
Iris felt scared shitless after the fact.
If something had gone sideways,
What would happen to the Valois future!
Maybe
She should find a way to keep Carlos glued to her side forever?
Her arms unconsciously got tighter, like she was afraid Carlos would pull another stunt like this.
Carlos immediately felt his chest getting crushed.
He could barely breathe.
"Sis!
Too tight!"
"Shit, sorry!"
Iris immediately loosened up, though she had zero intention of letting Carlos escape her death grip.
"Cough cough!"
Carlos sucked in a deep breath.
Back from the dead!
He hadn’t expected his sister’s reaction to be this intense!
And just now, he had this weird feeling that sis wanted to lock him up forever.
"Sis, don’t sweat it.
Purple Vortex, Red Spirit, Ginya!
Get over here and let sis check you out!"
A hundred explanations couldn’t beat showing off his own firepower.
Carlos figured once sis understood his current strength, she’d definitely chill out.
"Roar!"
"Chirp!"
"Master!"
The three companions came over at Carlos’s call.
Iris had already clocked these three incredibly powerful creatures when she landed:
"What are they?"
She had no clue where her brother had recruited these weird-looking lackeys.
"Sis,
These are my three badass companions evolved from skeleton warriors!
Purple Vortex! Red Spirit! Ginya!"
Getting their master’s orders,
The three companions immediately went full throttle:
Dark Purple Force Field!
Crimson flames!
Withering Domain!
Instantly, three terrifying pillars of light shot up, whipping up wind and clouds as the sky got carved up by three massive forces.
"Peak high-tier power!"
And there’s three of them!!!
Iris was blown away.
What her brother had written in that letter was actually legit?
Carlos wasn’t just talking big?
Just relying on these three peak summoned creatures,
Below Controller level, nobody... hell, nothing could take her brother down!
"Carlos, how’d you evolve them?
Is this also demigod guidance?"
Iris was dying to know.
In Death Herald history, no low-tier Death Herald’s skeleton soldiers had ever evolved to these levels.
"Yep!"
Carlos nodded like a true believer.
Everything was demigod guidance!
"Wait... did you really push your spirituality to 19 points?"
Iris raised her hand, lightly touching Carlos’s forehead as detection psionic energy flowed in:
"Holy crap, it really is 19 points!"
Though mentioned in that earlier letter, it was nothing compared to the shock of feeling it firsthand!
’It’s only been how long, and he’s already hit 19!!!’
Carlos had only awakened less than a year ago!!!
Iris lit up like a Christmas tree, looking down at her brother with eyes full of pure adoration:
"Sorry, sis was wrong about you before.
Sis owes you an apology."
Iris ruffled Carlos’s hair, the joy on her face completely unstoppable!
Unstoppable!
"Sis, it’s cool.
This whole thing was kinda more than I bargained for anyway."
Carlos breathed a sigh of relief inside.
Looked like sis had decided not to rake him over the coals.
"More than you bargained for?
Isn’t everything already wrapped up?"
Iris was confused.
From the garrison, she’d learned the Golden Sand Society had been crushed by her brother.
On the way here, she’d also taken out the surviving Black Poison Faction bishop in Rock Sand City.
Both the sellouts and the buyers were dead—wasn’t it over?
"It’s not over!"
Carlos was surprised. Why would sis think it was done?
"On the way here,
I ran into this half-dead Black Poison Faction bishop.
Before croaking, he spilled
That Rock Sand City’s Black Poison Faction got backstabbed by the Golden Sand Society and jumped by Rock Sand City humans, pretty much wiped out.
Combined with you crushing the Golden Sand Society..."
"What! Rock Sand City’s Black Poison Faction has been wiped out?"
Carlos was floored.
He knew the Golden Sand Society had ratted out the Black Poison Faction
But had no idea Rock Sand City’s Black Poison Faction had already gotten steamrolled by Rock Sand City humans.
Even with such a huge deal going down,
Inside Rock Sand City,
Weirdly, not a peep had gotten out.
Not even an official announcement.
"You didn’t know?"
Iris found it strange. With achievements this big, hadn’t Rock Sand City officials been bragging about it?
Carlos shook his head.
Though he didn’t know why no news had leaked,
If they got wiped out, so be it—didn’t matter much.
"Sis,
After crushing the Golden Sand Society,
Black Sinners showed up in Rock Sand City.
They’re scheming to pull off a portal ritual, and it’s damn near ready to go!"
Carlos cut straight to the chase, laying out what he knew.
"What?
Black Sinners?
Black Sinners showed up here?
And the portal ritual is almost done?"
Iris’s eyes went wide as dinner plates.
Her brother had absolutely no reason to bullshit her—she believed it immediately.
