Leaving the medical office, Sophie couldn’t help but raise her hand to touch her face. The feeling was truly miraculous; unbeknownst to her, her skin had already healed.
That it had scabbed so quickly was evidently a surprise to George Stanford as well.
Never mind George Stanford; even she herself found it hard to believe. It wasn’t until this moment, when the gauze was removed and she felt the warmth of the sunshine on her face, that it truly sank in.
Only then did she confirm that her face was indeed healing at an extremely rapid speed.
"What are you thinking about?"
Sophie snapped out of her thoughts and looked at the man beside her. His handsome face possessed a soul-stirring allure, tempting one to drown in his deep eyes and making it impossible to break free.
Sophie shook her head, raised her arms, and her lips curved into a playful smile. "Thomas Shannon, carry me back."
Thomas Shannon sneered and turned to leave.
Sophie huffed, ran up behind him, and with a sudden leap, jumped onto his back. Her legs clamped tightly around his lean waist, and her arms circled his neck as she said smugly, "You have to carry me whether you want to or not. You owe me this."
"Owe you?" Thomas Shannon scoffed at the word.
When did he ever owe her?
"Before, when you were protecting Raina Bell, you gripped my wrist so hard it turned red. Doesn’t that count as you owing me?"
"Protecting who?"
"Raina Bell!" Sophie rested her head on his shoulder, enunciating each word clearly and firmly.
He still wants to deny it!
If the red marks hadn’t faded already, I’d shove my wrist right in his face and make him see how rough he was! ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ Novᴇl_Fire(.)net
He gripped it so hard it left a red ring all around my wrist.
Thomas Shannon gave a cold laugh. "HEH." But he didn’t say anything more.
Sophie didn’t want to argue with him, so she took his silence as an admission.
Resting on his back, Sophie hummed a little tune, feeling wonderful.
"What are you humming?"
"I don’t know..."
Back at the castle, Sophie finally slid off Thomas Shannon’s back. She straightened her clothes and sat down on the sofa.
Raina Bell stepped forward. "Young Master, would you like an iced drink?" she asked softly. Seeing him carry the little maniac in from outside, she assumed he must be tired.
"No need."
"Yes." Raina Bell lowered her head and quietly stepped aside.
"Raina, why don’t you ask me?"
Sophie relaxed, leaning lazily against the sofa, and watched Raina Bell with leisurely amusement.
Raina Bell looked up, about to speak, but when she saw Sophie’s face, she gasped, her expression filled with terror.
The smile on Sophie’s lips stiffened. She sat up straight. "What? Is this face so terrifying it scares you this much?"
I’d forgotten, Sophie thought. When Raina arrived, she hadn’t seen my face from before the surgery.
What she’s seeing now is just its scabby state after the first surgery, once the gauze was removed.
Look at her, acting like she’s seen a ghost! If she saw what I looked like before any surgery, wouldn’t she be scared to death?
Raina Bell trembled like a sieve, quickly lowering her head, her terrified expression still etched on her face. "L-Little Maniac, I didn’t mean that... It’s just, I just didn’t expect your face... to be like this."
"What about my face? Are you only just realizing it now? I don’t believe someone recruited by Minimus Hart for the female slave quota could be so innocent."
Innocent people can’t survive here.
Let alone flawlessly complete various missions for Thomas Shannon.
Therefore, she suspected Raina Bell was deliberately putting on an act to mock her face.
Raina Bell bit her lip, defending herself weakly, "It’s not like that, Little Maniac..."
