Chapter 390 of "Pampered by My Secret Husband" begins revealing exciting developments: After a pause, William Guillen said, "That’s the privilege of being liked by you."Women are... Don’t stop now!
After a pause, William Guillen said, "That’s the privilege of being liked by you."Women are sensitive creatures; they can feel whether others treat them well or badly.
Even more so for the maniac.
Before meeting him, she had gone through many hardships. How could she not know how good he was to her?
Thomas Shannon took a sip of wine and said thoughtfully, "That makes sense."
As he carefully recalled, the maniac did indeed start acting strangely after seeing him at the entrance of the study room.
With William Guillen’s reminder, the more he thought about her jealousy, the more reasonable it seemed.
Although the maniac was a bit untamed and capricious on weekdays, this time her temper had flared up quite suddenly.
Thinking back, she had been perfectly fine before breakfast and also when she went to the medical office. It was only at the entrance of the study room, after seeing that group of female slaves, that she started acting strangely.
"The maniac is jealous, are you happy?" William Guillen teased. "Overjoyed, I bet?"
It’s rare to find someone you genuinely like, someone so different from Amelia Shaw back then. Amelia enjoyed his pursuit on one hand while being with Frank Mitchell on the other. In the end, she hurt him badly. Even more ridiculous was that after Frank Mitchell went bankrupt, she shamelessly returned, bringing up the past and claiming she had only just realized he was the one her heart truly loved. How laughable! That woman’s audacity was the most shameless William Guillen had ever encountered. There was no comparison. He really doubted what Thomas had seen in her in the first place. Was it just because of her deceivingly beautiful face? Now that Thomas had feelings for the maniac, her jealousy was a clear reflection of her true feelings. William Guillen was genuinely happy for him; at least this time, the woman he liked wasn’t a shameless scoundrel like Amelia Shaw.
Thomas Shannon’s lips curved into a smile. He tilted his head back and drained the wine in his glass.
It was like being lost in a misty forest and suddenly finding the correct way out. His mood was tinged with a slight excitement.
Putting down the wine glass, he stood up. "Lan Singh, I’m leaving."
"Not going to have a couple more drinks with me?"
"No."
"Leaving in such a hurry?" William Guillen continued to tease, as if determined to provoke Young Master Shannon.
Thomas Shannon shot him a cold glance, then withdrew his gaze, turned, and strode away.
「In the forest.」
Sophie Sullivan gradually felt a chill. The sunshine could not penetrate the dense canopy, and the temperature in the forest was very low.
She was lightly dressed and shivered involuntarily.
Her whole body trembled, and goosebumps rose on her skin.
Around her, unidentified birds were still calling, their sounds terrifying and eerie.
They sounded like crows, yet not quite—their calls were deeper, more horrifying and unsettling than any crow’s.
In this dim and cold forest, the sounds echoed, constantly grating on one’s eardrums.
Sophie Sullivan took a deep breath, telling herself not to overthink and to calm down. Thomas Shannon can’t possibly keep me locked up here forever. He’ll release me soon.
Holding onto this conviction, she simply sat down on the ground to conserve her energy, rested her chin on her knees, and closed her eyes to rest.
She didn’t know how long it had been. Just as she was succumbing to fatigue and about to fall asleep, she suddenly heard a rustling sound approaching her.
She snapped her eyes open and looked in the direction of the sound— ᴛhis chapter is ᴜpdated by ????????????????????•????????????????•????????????
A snake, flicking its crimson tongue, was slithering towards her.
"AAAH!"
Sophie Sullivan screamed in terror.
